DESCRIPTION
The TIE/GT light starbomber, more commonly known as the "TIE Bombard," is a combat spacecraft developed by Sienar Fleet Systems for the Galactic Empire. Predating the introduction of the more capable TIE/SA in service, the TIE/GT nevertheless replaced older types dating from the Clone Wars such as the Y-Wing, at last unifying the Empire's Starfighter Corps under an ecosystem of TIE variants. The TIE Bombard was used in a number of the Empire's early campaigns, notably during the Nishr Suppression, where it was used to level Nish industrial cities which were supplying anti-Imperial factions with weapons and other equipment. The type was largely removed from front-line service following the introduction of the TIE/SA, which was a more capable design in nearly all respects; existing TIE/GTs were relegated to rear echelon duties or placed in storage.

The TIE/GT is approximately half a TIE/SA, almost literally. Very close to a standard TIE in appearance, the TIE/GT features an elongated central pod, which contains the cockpit up front, plus a large ordinance magazine behind, capable of deploying up to 16 bombs via a ventral chute. Other weaponry consists of a single forward-firing medium laser cannon. Without its ordinance load, the TIE/GT can carry up to 10 tons of cargo, although unlike the TIE/SA it cannot carry passengers. Due to its longer fuselage, the TIE/GT cannot match a standard TIE for performance, capable of only 90 MGLT and decent maneuverability.

In the present day, TIE/GTs are not as rare as they might be, given how many were placed in storage depots before the middle of the Galactic Civil War. They are still not common, of course.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Civilians are generally not permitted to own starbombers such as the TIE/GT without extensive licensing. Even with this, the type receives heavy scrutiny from most authorities. Recognized military and paramilitary organizations may have an easier time of it.

INTENT
To bring a from vessel from Legends canon into our site's fanon.
