OOC: Hope it's alright if I make a new Timeline mission but what the heck it's good to start early! This is open to everyone not just Rebel/Jedi players and could there be more going on here than the Alliance thinks? ;)
Primary Objective: Recover Imperial plans for a new Superweapon.
Secondary Objective: Sabotage facility and find any other RnD plans you can.
Akiara took a deep breath, first new Operation in months after being moved from Coruscant and it was a big one. The Imperium was developing some sort of new weapon, a source in the Imperial Ministry for War said it was a new way to wage planetary warfare and that the other projects in this base would prove highly interesting to show Imperial High Commands new direction for crushing the Alliance. Still though, it was just one source - trusted though he may be - Akiara didn’t like the Op at all, it was dangerous and risky and was going to tie up a large number of assets if things went South. And that could easily become the reality in an Op this resource intensive. The Rebel Navy said it was up to the task but they would be almost hopelessly outgunned and Akiara was doubtful at how long Dodonna group could shake off the Imperials. There was so much risk in an Op like this but... High Command had deemed it a necessary risk and to think the Imperials had stationed an entire RnD division on a relatively Mid-rim moon. No doubt they wanted the project kept secret but it was just asking to get found out there.
Anyway, he shook himself: enough time for that later he had a brief to do. He stepped through the door on the Blockade runner and looked at the strike team that had been assembled. If he was honest his heart sank a little, he had been expecting... well more. But it would have to do now that the date for the Op launch was less than a week away.
“Alright then, comrades you know by now that we are to be taking part in a large multi pronged offensive against the Imperium in the Mid-rim. I still can’t say where exactly only the ship Captains are aware of the location as this Op needs to be kept bolted down for now incase the Empire gets word so you can of course consider this meeting top secret. Anyway, lets go over a quick brief of the op and you can ask any questions you have after ok? Good.”
He took a short breath and slid in the data spike to start displaying holograms of the planet and moon they were about to land on explaining the geographical details. The habitable moon had been vongformed in the past and the biosphere was still recovering, the atmosphere was not especially poisonous to most humanoids but extended periods in the planets thicker jungles where the terraform gas tended to hang around eye level would be poisonous, a sort of industrial aftereffect. This went on for quite some time since they would have to land the stolen shuttle just outside one of the jungles for cover it could come in handy.
“We managed to acquire a Stolen Imperial shuttle thanks to yours truly, it’s got some older acess codes but it should be fine however I don’t want to risk us flying straight onto the base because they are far more likely to be anal about security. We will be landing on the far side of the base near a sort of quagmire next to one of those jungles - from there were going to have to yomp to the base, don't worry we packed speeders so we will have to move fast for at least twenty or thirty miles. The gravity on the planet is a tad on the heavy side so it may take a few hours for you to really adjust and chances are clothing is going to chafe. Once we reach the Imperial Base our biggest issue is gaining entrance but I’m sure thats where you lot can get creative. We don’t have long on this Op so anything you do has to be fast this is an in and out job we have to hit them hard and fast.”
He looked around at the faces in the room some seemed disgruntled while others were listening intently, tough crowd he thought.
"Using a stolen Imperial shuttle our strike team will Infiltrate the Imperial Research and Development Project on the habitable Moon. We have schematics for the base and where we believe the research is most likely to be stored and you will all be briefed on this closer to the time."
"This is the main vault area where most of the really dangerous research takes place behind those blast doors. That is where we need to get to and grab as much as we can or blow the place into spacedust."
"This Blockade Runner is to await in system to ferry our little team out once the Plans have been taken we can’t go back for the shuttle sadly so by the time we are coming out it will be an all guns blazing kind of deal. "
"Nerf Squadron and Dodonna battle group are to engage Imperial Forces in the Outer systems and engage in Hit and run attacks to draw off Imperial forces and any possible reinforcements in the sector we know this sector has a decent sized Imperial garrison and a strong Navy presence so this is all rather touch and go."
"Omicron Squadron will be providing close support around the moon once our team has hit the ground, they will attempt to distract any Imperial Forces that might be left to give us a headache - by this point the Imps will know something is up so chances are once these guys arrive the base will be in lockdown."
"Imperial Defences over the Planet and it's moon are solid and the Alliance is expanding a great deal of manpower to get you into this base and then get you out. The extraction is going to be hairy but Alliance Command has faith in you and so do I. Now are there any questions?”
