Minerva Wren walked down a little path amongst the snowy field. In her arms the warrior carried three little children. Held on the right arm was Eisa Wren, curvy black hair with red strands and brown eyes, holding tightly to her mother’s neck. On the window’s left shoulder Jorrel and Adrian, both with matching brown hair and brown eyes, held each other as they looked out to the nearby trees on their flank.

The wind continued to howl with each step Minerva took. Meters away was a Kom'rk-class fighter/transport with red stripes painted on its wings. The landing ramp was open with a Wren warrior typing on a datapad. Hearing the family’s approach, the warrior stopped and looked up. He then said.

“All preparations are completed for your departure Lady Fhiradiad.”

Stopping in her tracks Minerva gave a quick before walking up the ramp. Soon she placed each of her children in a seat and made them as much as possible. “I’ll be back soon, my little ones.” She remarked before going back to speak with the Wren warrior.

Through her helemt’s audio speakers she said.

“Thank you Jerrin. You were always one of the first to welcome me to the clan. It is only fitting that you will see us off.”

Jerrin’s body stiffened in reaction and his voice was laced with concern.

“Milady, we hate to see you go from us. You have proven yourself a worthy member of Clan Wren.”

In response, Minerva let out a sigh that hinted at her regret.

“I know Jerrin but my decision is final. News coming out from the Free Worlds alliance makes it clear to me that they’re hopeless. The FWA rather whine about blue milk spilled over Denon to the New Republic than actually take the fight to the Sith who are the real threat.”

Minerva shook her head in utter disgust at the whole thing.

“Sooner or later the Sith will come for Mandalore. Either they will try to finish what the Galactic Empire started with the Great Purge. Or they will pretend at friendship, offering an alliance which will actually be slavery that will slowly wipe out our culture. As much as I hate to admit given our history there will likely be those will be desperate and stupid enough to accept it.”

The bitterness in her voice made it evident. She paused, squeezing her left gloved hand into a fist.

“I will not have my children's future be denied because of such a foolish cycle. We will go to the Unknown Regions and begin our lives anewed there. Though first I’ll stop at Mandalore and pick up others who wish to join me.”

Jerrin to all of that before taking off his helmet, revealing his tan face half of it disfigured from combat. Subsequently he offered his right arm

“I understand Milady and you will be missed. Farewell vod and may your journey be fruitful.”

Saying nothing else Minerva clasped his arm with hers and they shook. “Make sure you give Song my regards. She will make a fine countess for the clan I know.” The window instructed which was answered with a bow before Jerrin nodded.

With that they separated. Minerva walked up the ramp again. Not long after it closed behind after pressing the button for it. Heading to the cockpit, Adrian, her youngest, asked.

“Mom, where are we going again?”

The warrior window paused, taking off her helmet with one hand and ruffed Adrian’s hair with the other. “On an adventure my son. One where all of us are a family together.”

Jorrel raised an eyebrow. “I don’t understand why we have to leave our home to do that.”

Minerva bit her lips and fought back tears. Instead she turned to Jorrel and knelt before him. Looking into his curious filled eyes she answered while holding his left cheek.

“Because your future is worth this sacrifice. You'll understand one day Jorrel.”

“Well I for one can’t wait to go! I want to find rancor and ride it one day.” Eisa proclaimed proudly. Her brothers snorted and rolled their eyes while their mother couldn’t help but laugh in a mixture of pride and amusement.

Minerva got into her seat and activated the ship. Soon it ascended, blowing snow in its wake while Jerrin watched from quite a distance. The ship flew into the clouds then minutes later exited the atmosphere into space. While her children were gasping with delight at seeing the stars in such matter Minerva paused to let them enjoy it. This was after all they’re first time traveling outside of home.

“Alright you three get ready. Here we go.” Minerva Wren said with tears slowly streaming down from her eyes. At that word she pulled the lever and the ship went into lightspeed.
