The date is December 1, 2012, and the world has descended into chaos. People are disappearing from existence with new ones taking their place, whole cities/countries are being destroyed and new ones created, and people's memories are constantly changing so no one notices the chaos. Only a few seem to be unaffected by the changes, and they try to warn people about them, but no one believes them. One of these people is Nathan Haywood, a historian who specializes in deductive historical reconstruction (in layman's terms: a time detective), who has decided to take it upon himself to form a team of experts to find out when time was changed, steal an experimental government time machine, and fix the timeline.
