TRADITIONAL UBESE GARB

The Traditional Ubese Garb, also known as Ubese Raider Armor, is perhaps one of the most recognizable attires in the galaxy. For millennia, Ubese warriors have traversed the galaxy making their martial prowess known and this is their armor of choice. The Ubese people originally crafted this armor to help them survive the harsh and unforgiving landscape of their home-world Uba IV. Over the years, it has proven to be a valuable set of light armor for Ubese warriors who use their skills as bodyguards, mercenaries, and bounty hunters.

The ensemble consists mainly of leather and linen garments designed to keep out the elements. The gloves are adorned with small durasteel spikes on the knuckles which are functional but they are mostly just there to add to the intimidation factor of the overall look. The utility belt and bandolier provide storage for any weapons and gadgets the user might carry, such as holsters for weapons, ammo pouches, and grenades. On the utility belt's clasp, the wearer would engrave a sigil indicating which Ubese clan they were a member of.

As far as armor goes, a blast vest comprised of armor plates is worn beneath the outer layer of linen in order to protect the wearer's chest and back. Worn under the inner layers of clothing is an environmental bodysuit used to ward off the effects of the many toxins and hazardous chemicals prevalent on Uba IV and elsewhere throughout the galaxy.

The outfit is completed by an iconic unique shaped helmet which makes the armor memorable. The durasteel helmet provides physical protection to the user's head and neck, and also is equipped with several features that aid in both survival and combat. Functions that are integrated into the helmet include both an air filter and rebreather, aiding the user in survival in noxious or otherwise unbreathable air conditions for a short time. Also, the helmet's HUD is equipped with atmospheric sensors and can toggle into either night vision mode or infrared.

Overall, the traditional Ubese garb provides decent protection combined whilst allowing the user to maintain some mobility. A simple and effective combination that serves its wearers well.

LEGALITY

This armor is quite simple and it is not adorned with any features or gadgets that would be considered illegal by galactic standards. However, this armor is strongly associated with Ubese warriors who are infamous for their violence and brutality, and their link to the criminal underworld. So wearing this armor is not illegal but it can garner unwanted attention from law enforcement towards its wearer.

INTENT

The intent is to provide a generic and lore friendly armor for Ubese characters.

RESTRICTIONS

Seeing as the armor is hand crafted and is inextricably linked to the Ubese people, it is pretty much used exclusively by Ubese warriors. This armor could be acquired by a non-Ubese person if they were to take it from the corpse of a dead warrior or if they somehow convinced the Ubese to give it to them willingly, though the Ubese are not known to be accepting of outsiders.

Theoretically there is nothing stopping someone from copying the design and trying to craft their own version of this armor but there is nothing particularly special that would warrant an outsider going through the trouble to do so. Also, the Ubese people are know for being hostile and would not take kindly to a non-Ubese person donning their traditional garb. This armor is generally restricted to Ubese characters and NPCs.

Functions

Function 1: Filter

  • Filters are bulky attachments to a helmet, or function as part of a mask, that filter out environmental contaminants such as smoke or most toxins. They are susceptible to caustic substances and damage.
Function 2: Rebreather

  • Rebreathers allow for a person to survive underwater or in space for brief amounts of time by scrubbing CO2 from their exhaled breath. Generally this lasts for 3-4 posts, but heavy exertion can shorten that time.
Function 3: Vision Modes

  • This Allows a Helmet HUD to cycle to low-light OR thermal vision modes.
Function 4: Survival HUD

  • Reads atmosphere composition and detects toxins.
Function 5: Environmental Suit

  • While it is not rated for extended exposure to extreme hazards, this body suit (when combined with an enclosed helmet) can protect the wearers body from the effects of environmental and weaponized toxins and similar hazards for up to 5 posting rounds.
