As the suns made their path along the backside of Tatooinne, it grew cold. The small generator Wodan brought down provided the pair with a little light and heat for them to get through the night. Though the Firrerrian hardly slept a wink, his mind constantly filled with tugs and pulls of memories not his. The reason he came here in the first place, he saw visions of battles fought long ago, death and destruction, droids and children alike all destroyed by his power.

He woke with a start, a cold sweat upon his brow as the first light of the day began to bounce into the sinkhole which was their home for the night. Sitting up from his makeshift bed he shook off some of the sand which had settled on him during the night and began rolling up his camp bed. Stuffing it into the bag, he stepped out of the old room and into the main area of the residence. “Caelian, you up yet?” He shouted through the small homestead, hopefully the Ehcani wan’t a deep sleeper and they could get their search started and done before the morning was over.

The night passed quickly, the cool air blowing gently bringing with it a light layer of sand. It was a wonder anything survived out in the desert for long without being entirely buried under piles of it. He could see why many called the dunes another version of the sea, as the level of sand would ebb and flow with the wind, and where it landed one night might not necessarily be where it was the next.

The rough sleep wasn't enough to stop Caelian from catching a few hours of rest. Waking from his slumber, he slowly dusted the coat of sand from the thermal blanket and took a brief look around but saw nothing of immediate interest. It didn't take long for Wodan to stir and shortly after he heard his name being called.

"I am," he replied in turn. Reaching into his bag he pulled out a small pouch of liquid breakfast before making his way down to wherever his friend had found himself. "Bit of a dump eh? Though with a bit of work I'm sure you could turn it into a decent B&B." a smile crept across his face as he remarked humorously.

"Do you think anything still works here or has the sun fried everything over the years?"

Their needle-in-a-haystack search was now upon them. If they were lucky, they'd find what they needed quickly and be on their way to a local cantina before heading off-world. On the one hand, Caelian was excited at the prospect of putting Tattootine behind them but at the same time, he had equally come to enjoy Wodan's companionship.

Perhaps the object they sought would help him make sense of these dreams. If the man needed him here, then he'd stay, until they found whatever it was they were looking for.

Wodan was sipping from the canteen he had taken from the Sand Raider when Caelian appeared from his sleeping hole. “Probably though the shuttle bus back to town would be a pain.” He replied with a smirk as they centred in the middle of the structure. “I doubt it, between the sun, the cold and the sand. It would be a miracle if any of this still worked.”

The Firrerrian kept looking at the walls of the circular hole as he moved around trying to find the exact centre of the homestead. It didn’t take long before he located it and gestured Caelian to come over and sit opposite him. “I doubt the items we are looking for will appear willingly to well, people like us.” He began as he popped his pack to one side and pulled out his lightsaber, using The Force he disassembled the weapon setting aside its machine components leaving him with the bleed and broken kyber crystal hovering between them.

“A little coercion should hopefully help. Pour your Darkside energy into the crystal, I can channel it to see what we can find.” Wodan would begin to channel some of his own energy into the crystal, though he would be relying on Caelian to supply the bulk load of power, so Wodan could direct the ritual.

Caelian smiled at his comment about the shuttle, few would find the trip bearable let alone for fun he thought. The moment passed and the seriousness of their mission returned, the pair looked around the room briefly in agreement that it all looked a bit old and dusty.

Moving over and across from Wodan, the Echani looked intently at what the man was doing. Wodan's lightsaber was an interesting design and in no time the components began to fall away, leaving its weathered crystal exposed and vulnerable before them. Sometimes it was a little difficult for Caelian to tap into the dark side without a catalyst but recent events had helped with that too, as he nodded along.

Closing his eyes he began to focus through the force upon the crystal, allowing his emotions to flow freely. A tether to the darkness was required to remain engaged while Wodan completed the ritual, Caelian considered his options for a moment before selecting the most visceral of all. Suddenly the smell of burning flesh returned fresh in his mind, that fateful day when he lost his tongue. He had been punished for his insolence and the weakness of fighting back, which had irritated him for some time now.

Dark clouds formed in his mind as he focused on his desire to grow in power, to take back his dignity and exact his spiteful revenge upon the then master that had done it. It was a long dangerous road that wasn't entirely certain to come to pass, but it was upon this very thought that the Echani clung to in order to pour Darkside energy into the crystal.

Wodan felt the Darkness pour from the Echani in front of him, his eyes locked on the form of Caelian for a moment wondering what emotion he was using to channel his power. The Firrerrian had a good guess about what it could be, ut it didn’t truly matter, only that the powerflow remained as he conducted his ritual.

The crystal hovered between the two just below Wodan’s eyeline as he began to mumble a few words. ur-Kittat, the language of the ancient Sith people, the one spoken tongue which seemed to tap fully and truly into the deepest depths of the Dark Side. Wodan had slowly begun to pick up the language over the past few months. After seeing what powers Arla and her people could perform with her their Magick, Wodan was curious to see what powers of his own he could muster from the void.

The mumbling grew louder as he continued to repeat the phrase “Tapti' kia nun, ginklas iv irus, tapti' kia nun, xauti nun kash tave jen' “ Around them both the Darkness swirled an invisible maelstrom of energy centred on the krystal before them, its broken and shattered nature screamed out to the Force. Helping summon the powers Wodan needed to locate the object.

A flash in his mind's eye showed him the direction they needed to look, West. But he needed more, less they be here for days looking for it.

Caelian's focus remained unbroken even as Wodan began his ritual. Darkside energies flowed through his limbs and into the crystal before them. The sensation of power, unbridled power coursing through his veins was a prize in itself. The mystical chanting filled the air as the wind picked up, throwing desert sand into the air and drifting away to join some other of the multitude of dunes.

The Echani continued to hold his focus on the traumatic events that had brought much pain into his life. Thinking back to his youth, living at home with his parents and their refusal to allow him to train with the force. The anger that had welled up within him, the fighting that had broken out and had led to him abandoning them in search of a master.

His mind wandered to the failures that continued to plague him, he shared one such event with Wodan on Onderon, with neither of them coming away unscathed. Why hadn't he been able to overcome their enemy and defeat them. His failures in combat led him here in all the misery and anguish that followed. The seared tongue, the damaged ear all symbols of these and constant reminders to do better.

Caelian poured his heart and soul into maintaining this connection, hoping that Wodan would quickly find what he was looking for before it was too late.

Flashes of his own despair tried to flicker into his mind as Wodan spun the dark energies around them. The ur-Kittat was a powerful tool in manipulating the Force’s nature into what he desired but it was still a raw and savage power which wanted to be set free. He continued to repeat the phrase “Tapti' kia nun, ginklas iv irus, tapti' kia nun, xauti nun kash tave jen' “ As they say cross legged opposite another.

The call to the West became slowly more clear, it was not far, only a hundred metres or so from the pair. But it was buried deep, behind some kind of unknown barrier. If Wodan wanted to break the barrier, he would need to know exactly where to look to channel his strength and power. “Tapti' kia nun, ginklas iv irus, tapti' kia nun, xauti nun kash tave jen' “

Like a sonar every chant, the ping grew more stable, more accurate in its reading. Fifty metres deep, that was good. “Tapti' kia nun, ginklas iv irus, tapti' kia nun, xauti nun kash tave jen' “

Wodan stopped chanting, a bright smile rushed across his face. “You can let go now Caelian.” He said, letting go of his own control over the kyber crystal once the Echani had his emotions under control. The red crystal floated back down onto the floor where Wodan collected it and placed it in his pocket. He would reassemble the blade later, he wanted to get going now before he lost sight of the objects in his minds eye.

It had been an uncomfortable ride through memory land for Caelian, but he persevered for his friend regardless. What would a little discomfort look like compared to the victorious smile of a hero retrieving artifacts, as he imagined Wodan would certainly be able to do?

The sudden flash of memory ceased as Wodan finalized his chanting, releasing the Echani from the ritual. Opening his own eyes, he caught sight of the kyber crystal for a brief moment before smiling himself.

"Did it work? what did you learn?" He was as excited to see it succeed as much as he was excited to be closer to being finally able to leave this place. He picked himself up and prepared to follow Wodan wherever his eye led him in search for this object.

They were so close, even Caelian could feel something, although he couldn't quite place it.

“I think so, come on.” He replied, pulling himself up from the seated position. His bum was numb, which seemed weird but as he looked up into the sky he saw the sun had moved a fair distance. Seemingly the pair had been in their ritual state for longer than either realised.

Once all his bottom muscles were back working at full capacity he made his way out of the hole in the ground which was the homestead and started making towards the area he felt the objects were. “I hope you're not tired, I have a feeling a little more work with The Force is needed to finish this.” He asked as he reached the location he expected the objects to be.

It was nondescript just another section of sand like all others around the homestead and the planet. Rounding the little section he stood still and beckoned Caelian over to stand opposite him. Once the Echani was near Wodan would hold his hand out, palm down and began searching with The Force below them. It didn’t take long for him to feel something down there, brimming with latent Force Energy. Latching on he would begin to pull. “I think there is more than one.” He said through gritted teeth as he pulled on the object, it was fighting him more than he expected. Like someone or something of great power was resisting Wodan’s attempt to free the object.

Once Caelian pulled himself up off the floor, he too noticed an uncomfortable cramp in his leg, as he stood and tried to shake it off. Time had passed quite quickly it seemed and that in itself was jarring but he took Wodan's cue and followed along. "I will be fine, let us proceed." A small smile perched upon his face as he encouraged his friend.

Following the direction, Caelian stood across from him and looked down at the patch of sand between them. Likewise reaching his hand out and by extension the force, joining the search for the object. Suddenly he felt its touch in the force just after Wodan, a mixed look of wonder and excitement crossed his mind as they had at last found what he had been looking for.

Alone Wodan may have struggled to remove it but combining their strength he hoped that they would be able to wrest control of both objects from their sandy tomb and reveal them back into the galaxy from where they had been hidden.

"Keep going, I think we've almost got it." He said with a pained expression, whatever it was, was fighting back but they seemed to have a slight edge.

The ritual had seemingly taken more of a toll on the young Champion than he was aware. His reserves of Force energy were quickly depleting as he continued to fight against the grip of the sand and the ancient Force energy which had coagulated around the objects deep below. Inch by Inch they struggled against both his and Caelian’s efforts to release them from the sandy depths. Caelian would notice that Wodan’s fangs were clear on show, a low growl emanating from deep within his chest as he fought to release his prize from its prison.

Finally the sand began to depart as a small red clothed bundle appeared from the clutches of the Dune Sea. Wodan let go of the Force and collapsed backwards onto the sand, a small puff of the stuff floating up around him as his arse hit the deck. He went light headed for a moment as the strain on his body and psyche disappeared in an instant, Wodan took a dozen deep breaths to settle his shaky foundations before pushing forward onto his knees. Opening up the small bundle of red cloth to reveal two Lightsabers.

A confused look passed over the Firrerrian’s face, he wasn’t expecting a weapon to give off so much Force energy that he would be summoned to his remote desolate homestead on an arse end of knowhere planet. But here they both were. “I guess one each.” He said, Wodan hadn’t expected two items and was willing to pay the Echani back with a favour in the future, but at least this helped alleviate his debt to Caelian straight away. Picking up the blade he ignited it, a bright blue blade shining against the clear sky of Tattooine, he would need to do some research to find out why this weapon and its sister had drawn him here. But that was for another day.

The titanic struggle lasted some time as both champions exerted themselves against the depths below. In all their time together, he'd never seen anything like this nor its effects on each of them and how much of a fight it seemed to be. They had come all this way, to the other side of the galaxy seemingly on a whim and yet now Wodan finally had proof that what he had been seeking was not only real but appeared to be a powerful artifact.

Once the small bundle had made its way to the surface, Caelian stumbled back a few steps, not entirely sure what they had been fighting against. It seemed so tiny and unimportant looking, nothing would give away its origin or history. When Wodan opened it slowly, Caelian stared at the pair of blades before looking back at his friend.

"What kind of freaky voodoo shit summoned you to a lightsaber Wodan?" On the one hand, he was ecstatic that they had finally found what they were looking for and yet on the other, one answer only created more questions. "You take 'em both, if they're not cursed and you survive then maybe I'll take one." He remarked with a hint of dry humor.

If there was an entity imbued within them that had summoned them, Caelian wasn't keen to get in between them. He thought back to how far his friend had come in these past few years. He could see Wodan going very far with his direction and drive, something he lacked himself. Even if he wasn't entirely sure about these new blades, they were sure to bring great prestige and power.

"I'm proud of you Wodan, you've achieved something incredible. You're gonna go far kid, no doubt soon the whole galaxy will know and fear your name. But first, let's get that drink before we head home eh? Something strong to remember everything we've accomplished."
