DESCRIPTION
The TX-225A Occupier assault tank is a large combat vehicle which was first manufactured for the Galactic Empire by Rothana Heavy Engineering. A comparatively primitive design next to the hovering repulsortanks and armored walkers commonly used by the Empire, the Occupier uses segmented tracks for locomotion. Despite this, it was widely used by Imperial garrisons, and was a common symbol of Imperial occupation and control on many worlds, leading to its moniker.The Occupier assault tank, despite being only 7.3 meters in length, is a potently armed and useful vehicle. Driving on tracks, it is unaffected by most common anti-repulsortank countermeasures and obstacles, including anti-repulsor mines and repulsor jamming systems. Its armament consists of 3 pairs of heavy laser cannons, 2 in horizontally traversing barbettes on the sides of the vehicle, and 1 located on the front of the tank in a casemate mount. These weapons are well suited to dealing with enemy vehicles, but are exceptionally useful against fortifications. This is in addition to the shear solidity and weight of the tank; in urban environments, they are often used to batter aside barricades and even crash through buildings. Occupiers are also extremely useful in the logistics role; they are equipped with an open rear cargo bed, and can carry up to 40 tons of freight, allowing them to undertake secure courier and front-line resupply missions. In keeping with their designation as assault vehicles, however, they were often used by the Empire in frontal assaults against dug-in enemy positions, traversing ground where repulsorcraft could not go.
The Occupier was widely used by the Empire, and despite its reputation as an instrument of oppression, has been kept in service on many world formerly under their control. Police, planetary defense forces, militias and even some criminals make use of the type.
