DESCRIPTION​

The U9-XX Droid is the most prevalent droid model on the droid world M4-78, designed and produced exclusively on that planet. Although M4-78 has many different droid models inhabiting it's surface, the U9-XX model is the most produced on the droid world. The U9-XX model is meant to be efficient to produce and efficient in productivity, with it's design being utilitarian and robust. This droid is a versatile model, built to perform in a variety of utilitarian roles. The U9-XX is well adapt at roles such as construction and maintenance, and other utility jobs that the usual astromech droids aren't best suited for. The U9 has tough plating, on par with armor. The U9 also has considerable strength, lending it very well for lifting heavy objects. To assist with movement on the droid world, the droid has magnetic feet built in which allow it to tread on ferrous surfaces in microgravity or steep gradients, similar to magboots

The communications antennae allows for efficient communications with other droids at long ranges on M4-78, allow can be tuned to communicate with commlinks from outsiders given the right frequency.

U9s can be programmed for combat exclusively, in lieu of utility programming. Combat-programed U9 droids make up the bulk of M4-78's standing planetary defense force. Their plating provides adequate protection and their strength makes their fists hit as hard as a wookies although their reflexes are quite sluggish. The U9's battle most efficiently at range, able to use small arms and heavy ranged weapons.

U9 droids mostly aren't painted or decorating, usually having with stock and bare plating, although that isn't always the case. U9 droids generally have a deep monotone voice and aren't talkative, using few words as possible as to be more efficient. Their personalities are no-nonsense as well. They don't tend to develop quirks over time, although it is possible.

However recently as part of a deal made by Blackwell CEO @Newton Arden and ISC Secretary of Defense @Carrick after the former's acquisition of M4-78, these line of droids are sold to the ISC. In addition to the droids being sold to the ISC, many of the droids are still under Blackwell's control.

LEGALITY​

Perfectly legal on the droid world M4-78. Technically speaking, non-combat programed U9's are legal on most civilized worlds as they are utility droids. Combat enabled U9's would be subject to restrictions as other combat models, ie requiring special permits and licensing for ownership in most regions. These droids are also property of either Blackwell Technologies or the ISC.

INTENT​

This write-up is meant to describe the most common of what the droid inhabitants for the planet I wrote up: M4-78. So for example if characters decide to thread on the planet, they would be seeing a lot of these droids there, so this is kind of a lore piece as much as it is a tech write-up. Although I could have made a reskin for this purpose, I elected to submit it for approval so that if approved this would be more visible to other writers. But this write-up does provide a good basis for a jack-of-all-trades droid, if anyone wants to reskin this droid into something else.
