Emryc wasn’t looking forward to doing this, but he didn’t come this far and amass the amount of support he had without sometimes working in spite of his preferences. The Killik threats on Corellia and Thyferra were repelled, though Corellia was left with debilitating issues. The half Sephi decided to make an address not just to the ISC, but across the galaxy. This address would reach New Republic, Alliance and Corporate Sector space and beyond.

“Citizens of the galaxy,” Emryc’s familiar baritone rumbled across Holonet. He stood behind a podium, dressed in a suit. He had more facial hair than his usual trimmed stubble, strategically depicting sleepless nights and unkemptness from dealing with the Killik situation, “The past couple weeks, multiple planets and trillions of people have been impacted by an unexpected threat in the form of the Killik.”

“This enemy is insidious,”
He paused as he stared at the camera. He had perfected the art of dramatic pause and the severe stare, “This enemy looks like us, acts like us, thinks like us. Neighbors, friends, and colleagues are all susceptible to coming under the influence of the Killik without anyone knowing. Whatever wars or quarrels we have, nothing takes precedence over eliminating this massive threat. The Killik are vast in numbers and they have attacked some of the most strategic planets in the galaxy. They will not stop there.”

In truth, there was very little pretending in his address. Emryc was genuinely concerned about the Killik. It was extremely difficult to rattle him, and these bugs had done just that, “Ruusan, Thyferra and Corellia have shown us that now is the time to set aside differences. Now is the time to work together,” It was a credit to his poker face that he didn’t betray how much disgust he felt saying such words, “All of the footage of me being in the thick of battle is valid. However, I would not be standing here today if not for the efforts of the Sith and the Jedi working together.”

He found it amusing that Draugr would never know that he unwittingly saved the life of Raze himself. He had to keep a faint grin from gracing his face, “The Jedi have been alienated by many factions and governments. However, their sacrifices and willingness to aid anyone in need during the Killik crisis has been nothing short of extraordinary. The ISC, generally a platform that does not support Force users, is indebted to these very Force users for their rapid assistance in Thyferra and Corellia alike.”

Emryc took a breath before he continued, “Jedi Master Zakrym La (@Apollyon ), specifically, put himself at great harm and risked his life in order to protect me from a particularly devastating attack from the Killik general on Thyferra. As a show of my gratitude, I will be granting him and the Jedi Order a defensive fleet composed of two TE-1 cruisers, one TE-2 carrier, two TE-4 carriers, and four EM-1 Corvettes. I am confident the Jedi Order will put this fleet to excellent use in the coming days of conflict with the Killik. I also hope to see and welcome continued Jedi assistance in rebuilding worlds devastated by this threat."

The half Sephi paused to let that sink in, knowing it would ruffle some feathers for his citizens. However, he didn’t care - even he couldn’t deny the insufferable Jedi had put themselves in danger to protect him. It was a clever tactic and one that paid off for them. For all his flaws, he was an honest and fair man.

“I invite the rest of the galaxy to recognize the Jedi for their efforts in striving to protect and defend those in need, even where they are not welcome. While the ISC will always be wary of Force users, we thank those that supported us in these trying times.”

“In addition to that, the ISC will be giving away a 20 million crown grant to any company or laboratory that takes on the research and creation of an insecticide that can eliminate the Killik. This will require extensive study of the Killik anatomy and physiology and the tech will need to be capable of weaponization and mass distribution at rapid scales. I have full confidence that there is a corporation or group of brilliant minds out there that will come up with a solution at once. The ISC will provide further funding once there is a promising prototype.”

Emryc paused before he continued, “Lastly, being in the thick of battle and my own life coming under almost certain danger has helped me gain perspective on many things. While this has been long overdue, I am pleased to announce that Galek Ordalos (@Altaris) will be taking up the position of Vice President of the ISC. As one of my most trusted advisors and constituents since the very inception of the ISC, he has been instrumental in not only ISCRA, which has a massive galactic footprint, but also countless diplomatic endeavors that have helped us thrive as a government. I have no doubt that the ISC and I will lean on him heavily in the coming days combating the Killik threat.”

He gazed at the camera, “This is a time of war. It is a fight far beyond the syndicates, the jedi or the sith. This is bigger than all of that. In order to combat it, we will all need to fight. We will need to fight harder than we’ve ever fought before because you cannot reason with this enemy and it will never quit.”

The holonfeed switched off after that. Behind the scenes, Emryc stepped back from the podium, grabbed his jacket and set off. His aide attempted to call out after him, but he brushed her off.

"Not now. Clear my schedule. There's something very important I need to do," He stated flatly as he left, "Something I should've done a long time ago."

The holonet flickers, a vibrant flame in the shadow of the Kel'dor's laboratory. Eyes reflect the face of Emryc, who addresses the galaxy with a thundering baritone. The topic is to be expected. The Killiks rage like a cancer through the veins of them all, a plague that surges across worlds in a blaze of hellish fire. They were unpredictable, and powerful, a might of a billion minds working in unison, but this was no graceful dance, no theater for the galaxy to enjoy. Death rained from burning skies, and Joined walked among friends and family.

Perhaps the Killiks were more akin to an apocalypse, seemingly unstoppable as they crushed worlds without concern.

Sol tilts his head, clasps his claws together with interest as he listens. The man speaks of unity, of coming together, and setting aside hostilities to face a greater threat, a common goal. It was a reasonable enough request. The cease-fire was shaky, brittle and frail, and it's edges had already been frayed by betrayal. Sol saw the opportunity to stab the Jedi in the back far more appealing than working alongside them, but ultimately, Emryc Thorne had a point. There would be no Jedi, and more importantly, no Sith, if the Killiks continued their ruthless rampage. The insects were a flood, uncontained and breaching the levies. Nothing mattered more than rebuilding that dam.

The Kel'dor had many aspirations, and control of the Empire was one such desire. Ultimately, there would nothing left to hold dominion over, if the Killiks ruined it all.

He glosses over the fleet gifted to the Jedi Order that had so willingly protected the president's life. Sol cares little for the assets gained, if they would inevitably be destroyed in the war against the Killiks. The Jedi would be fools to turn these vessels against the Empire, especially when so many were reaching for peace. When even one so deranged as Sol Kenuk saw a cease-fire as necessary and worth honoring, it truly put into question just how foolish someone would have to be to try and ruin it.

When talk of the grant is ushered into the air, the Kel'dor hums with quiet acknowledgement, silently delighted by the prospect. Aspiretech had multiple medical laboratories scattered across the galaxy, all of which focused almost entirely upon cybernetics. Regardless, they had the resources to push toward a desired cure for the unwanted infestation, and Sol himself knew how important the destruction of this threat was. He'd need samples, but luckily, the Kel'dor already knew where to look.

He rose from his chair, went to gather his ornate robes, and headed toward the exit. Sol had work to do.

After years in politics, Korre never really wanted much to do with them after she retired from her position as Prime Minister of the Free Worlds'. Instead, the red-headed Belascan had spent the majority of her time doing research in labs, managing the development of the Galactic Health Organization, and dealing with the aftermath of Belasco's septennial bacterial plague. She'd even finished her master's in biotechnology and was steadily working toward her first doctorate.

Turns out that with all this newfound free time, she could get a lot done.

Korre was in one of the labs at the University of Senta on Belasco when she got a notification from her aide, Florin, about an ISC broadcast that had just begun. The woman reached over for the remote and turned on the holotv, then kept the chisled face of Emyrc Thorne in her peripheal as she continued on with her work.

"...In addition to that, the ISC will be giving away a 20 million crown grant to any company or laboratory that takes on the research and creation of an insecticide that can eliminate the Killik..."

"Oh?" Now that caught the woman's attention. Her current project was just about wrapped up, which meant she was just about to have a buttload of free time if she didn't take on another. "Perfect timing."

"Hey Nal," Korre stated aloud to wake up the virtual assistant on her NalPhone. "Schedule a meeting with the board. ASAP. Oh, and request a sample of the latest bacteria for study."

There was an electric buzz across her freckled skin. The scientist was excited.

Huh. It took a great deal to surprise Alexandria Voran these days. True shock had slowly been worn away from her soul. She sat alone in her offices on Yavin. A look of utter surprise on her face. Your stupid pride Alex. Her greatest sin. The one she knew pushed her worse decision. How long had she ignored building relationships with the ISC because of her pride. Zak managed in one swoop to deliver a message she never accomplished. He was a good man and President Thorne had seen that. She rubbed her eyes. Over a hundred years old and she still only learned by failing. Alex stood, swallowing her pride. She flicked the com to her assistant.

“Alayna, please send a message directly to President Thorne thanking him for ships and ensuring the Order will be there should the ISC have need of us.” The galactic addresses had become far too common in her life. Her office was set up for occasions such as these. Alex took a deep calming breath. The Force bleeding the imperfection from her face. Her robes fluttering to attention. She stepped before the holorecorder.

“The Jedi Order shares the sentiments of President Thorne. Thyferra, Ruusan, and Corellia would have had vastly different outcomes with the forces of the galaxy pulling together. We will never be able to repay the kindness of the ISC, but I will promise this…” She took a small breath. “Should the Killik come to any world…we will be there…and no matter the outcome we will do all we can to rebuild what was lost.” Her eyes focused on the camera. “You have our word for the only way forward is together.” The cam clicked off. She needed to see Zak. She owed him a thank you.

Galek was no stranger to delivering Galactic addresses - even in moments of dire crisis. All the same, the Induparan couldn’t help but feel the newfound weight that bore down in his shoulders at that moment - commensurate with the mantle of office he now wore. It was everything Galek wanted and more - the influence and recognition that had always evaded him a distant Induparan royal. He had finally risen out of the shadow of his family and made his own mark in the Galaxy - based purely upon his own accomplishments. And it didn’t change the duty that underlined his new position.

The Induparan had been present remotely when the decision was made - and thus had a few, short hours to prepare before the President’s announcement was made to the Galaxy. Shortly thereafter, Galek’s office announced his intention to make press announcement on Bothuwai - just outside the office where he has, only hours ago, signed a deal with Clove to license and finance her new initiative. A podium was positioned on the steps above the press, dual banners of the ISC flanking and fluttering gently in the wind.

Before long, Galek emerged from the office entrance - marching forward to take his place at the podium. Despite the gaudy fashions and expensive accessorizes the Induparan was known for, Galek had deliberately scaled back his wardrobe for this appearance - reflecting the stress and seriousness of they crisis the Galaxy faced. He donned a charcoal grey kurta and matching pants, while his black hair was neatly combed with not a hair out of place. He wore a simple, platinum chrono on his wrist to accessorize.

Planting his hands into either side of the podium, Galek allowed his gaze to sweep the crowd of journalists. The HoloNet across the Galaxy was tuned to the live statement, ensuring that trillions would hear what the Induparan said.

“My fellow citizens,” Galek began, his sing-song voice projected by the mic and echoing through the plaza. “It is my distinct pleasure to have received, and to accept, the nomination for Vice President of the Consortium. For years as Governor, I have dedicated my career in service to the government and people of the ISC - through every crisis and conflict we have faced, and have stood proudly beside my colleagues in the best of times.”

He paused for a brief moment, allowing his words to hang in the air. “I declare before you all that my tenure as Vice President - whether it be long or short - shall be a continuation of this service. I am honored beyond words by the faith entrusted in me by President Thorne and the rest of the Executive Council, and by the citizens of our beloved Consortium - and all that I do shall be to further their interests. To ensure that our people are safe, happy and prosperous. That no matter the odds, this nation shall always hold its head high on the face of adversity.”

“Through my first act as Vice President, I am pleased to announce a partnership between the ISC and the Star Guardian’s project. This initiative - led by Clove Vanhoop, a veteran of the fighting on Thyferra - aims to bring state of the art medical care to trillions across the Galaxy, both within and without the Consortium. With their flagship facility to begin construction here on Bothawui, I know you will all join me in wishing Ms. Vanhoop and her team, luck and success in the coming days.”

“In these times of crisis, it is exactly initiatives like this that are most needed.
” Galek had defined his career through initiatives like ISCRA, and he would always support similar such projects - especially when he was publicly seen doing so.

Galek’s expression grew a bit more solemn - seriousness bleeding into his features as they hardened. “My fellow citizens, the days ahead of us are uncertain. The enemy we face is unlike any that has come before - unrelenting and without mercy. It will take the us all - united as a nation, and indeed in collaboration with our fellows in the Galaxy - to face it.” His fingers curled tightly around the podium. “But I am confident that we will rise triumph over this enemy - just as we have triumphed over every crisis in the past.”

With that, Galek finally took a step back from the podium - the HoloNet feed cutting out as the announcement reached its conclusion.

Clove had just signed her contract with Galek when the galaxy received its first political statement: a mind-blowing message from President Thorne. Not only did he praise the Jedi, which was unusual in the universe these days, but he also announced a 20 million crown grant to any company or laboratory that takes on the research and creation of an insecticide that can eliminate the Killik. Now that the contracts had been signed and the first funds were on their way, there would be enough to not only build the Star Guardians' facility but also to set up a small lab and hire droids.

They could actually give it a shot.

Fueled by the thrill and excitement of the conversation with Galek, Clove had been contacting her dearest friends Ruzaan(@SlagathorTheUnknown) and Arctus(@Forsythe Crowholde), leaving screaming voice memos inside their group chat. It was easily several minutes of "oh my Force, oh my Force, guys-" and "THERE'S FUNDINGS AN' A DEAL AND-" mixed with happy crying. The next hour was much the same, but this time with her father and mother. There was also the consideration to send Altair a text but... well, he clearly didn't want any contact, so she'd respect that boundry.

Her run-down mascara had just dried by the time Galek made his own statement. His focus was less on the Jedi and more on his new role as Vice President, as one might expect. But then he casually dropped her name, as well as the Star Guardian's name. And to top it all off, he explained what they were going to do. Clove's eyes widened as she stared at the hologram in her commlink, her cheeks and ears burning brighter by the second. He just made it official to the entire galaxy. There was no turning back now.

The Star Guardian Project was alive and well.

She had to do something, didn't she? Make a statement like the others had been doing, yes? Yes. She had to express her gratitude to the ISCRA for their collaboration and generosity in allowing her to build the first facility on Bothawui! She quickly wiped her cheeks with her hands to remove some make-up and raised her commlink's inbuilt camera to her face, ready to deliver her statement, when she realized something crucial: where'd she broadcast the statement to? She didn't have access to the Holonews like the big-higher-ups who were making all these incredible statements.

Well, a Switter post would have to do for now.
