Valok's Naval Tattoos
Because every spacer needs to be covered in ink
  • Starbird, upper chest: Less of a symbol and more of a declaration of freedom and independence.
  • Shriek Hawk, abdominals: A jai'galaar tattoo shows that the wearer has fought a Mandalorian and lived to tell the tale.
  • Jolly Roger, center of upper back: The infamous mark of someone who has captained a pirate ship.
  • Turbine, center of lower back: A bit of old spacer superstition, supposedly the turbine will blast you back to the ship if you go overboard.
  • Conovers, both shoulder blades: Valok earned his first convor after flying 10,000 km outside of hyperspace, and his second after flying another 10,000. This adds up to over 20,000 km traveled, excluding hyperspace.
  • Twi'lek Dancer, right ribs: A sign that Valok has been to the Smuggler's Moon and back without being mugged, maimed, or murdered. An impressive feat.
  • Giant Neebray, left ribs: This stylized depiction of a neebray manta is proof that Valok has flown Balmorra Run and lived.
  • Rancor Skull, right shoulder: An old pirate tattoo that symbolizes killing someone in melee or unarmed combat without armor or assistance.
  • Blazing Claw, left shoulder: The Blazing Claw and its many variations are all signs of a proud pirate.
  • Crossed Laser Cannons, right bicep: An indicator of Valok's time serving on a military vessel in a sovereign navy.
  • Mynock, left bicep: The mark of a recognized privateer, a sort of letter of marque and reprisal.
  • Fireball, top of right forearm: A mark earned for walking away from a starship crash alive and intact.
  • Dagger and Rose, top of left forearm: A common naval tattoo meant to symbolize conviction and courage.
  • Compass Star, underside of right forearm: A good luck charm that ensure a spacer always finds their way home.
  • Compass Rose, underside of left forearm: Another good luck charm to help ensure Valok is never lost on land or in space.
  • Dragonsnake, right wrist: Used to show that Valok has set foot on Nal Hutta without being skinned alive.
  • Chain, left wrist: This mark is often worn by more criminal spacers to indicate that they have escaped capture, imprisonment, or being held hostage before.

Valok's Pirate Code
Yes, these do exist
  1. Every crewmate has a vote in ship affairs, unless circumstances for the captain or similar officer to take direct control. Such is the case in all combat.
  2. No prey, no pay.
  3. The captain and first mate shall receive two shares of each prize. Gunners, doctors, quartermasters, and boatswains shall receive a share and a half. All other officers will receive a share and a quarter. Each single share must be of equal value to all others.
  4. Each crewmate is entitled to free and equal use of provisions and substances aboard the ship, unless shortages force rationing of goods.
  5. All crewmates must keep their personal arms, armor, and equipment clean and fit for service.
  6. Gambling, cavorting, and fighting are prohibited on board the ship.
  7. For crimes between crewmates the captain, first mate, and quartermaster shall decide punishment. For crimes against the entire crew or against allied parties, the crew shall vote on punishment.
  8. Punishable actions include theft, fraud, dereliction of duty, desertion, intoxication while on duty, assaulting a crewmate, murdering a crewmate, conspiracy, treason, and violation of the code.
  9. Quarter and parley are to be given when asked.
  10. No crewmate may retire until they have taken at least 1,000 credits worth of plunder. Crewmates maimed, mutilated, or otherwise incapacitated may retire early with no loss of share.
