DESCRIPTION​

The VCX-series auxiliary starfighter is a light combat spacecraft manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Specifically, the type was marketed as an optional accessory for the company's VCX-100 light freighter, and could fold itself up to fit into a niche around the intended mother-ship's dorsal docking ring, blending in with the hull.

The VCX auxiliary starfighter can more correctly be classified as a pinnace than a starfighter, having a much larger cargo and passenger capacity than a normal starfighters, but also being slower and less maneuverable than most. Crewed by 1 pilot and able to carry 4 passengers and 1 ton of cargo, the VCX has a top speed of just 75 MGLT, and has only average maneuvering characteristics, making it effective only with a particularly good pilot at the controls. Nevertheless, the VCX auxiliary fighter is armed with dual light laser cannons in the nose, plus a single light laser turret on the dorsal hull. Defense is provided by a light deflector shield, and the type has a class 2 hyperdrive. Equipped with a docking ring, the VCX can easily dock with other vessels, allowing transfer of crew and cargo; the VCX's most common use is actually as a shuttle.

Due to its status as an option for the VCX-100, the VCX auxiliary starfighter is exceptionally rare, and especially desired by rare starships collectors. A VCX-100 still in possession of a factory issue VCX auxiliary is highly valuable, and can sell for nearly a million credits.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. VCX auxiliary starfighters are, indeed, if poor ones, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.
