Vengeance-class Frigate

Mandal Hypernautics

CLASS
Frigate

ROLE
Capital Ship

COMPOSITION
Durasteel, Titanium, and Transparasteel

DIMENSIONS
255 meters long, 230 meters tall and 200 meters wide

CREW
350

PASSENGER CAPACITY
200

CARGO CAPACITY
2 Kilotons

1 Standard Year

SPEED/MANEUVERABILITY
This Vengeance-class Frigate has a top speed of 45 MGLT and has sluggish maneuvering characteristics.

ARMAMENT

EQUIPMENT
  • 2x hyperdrives, 1x class 2 main, 1x class 10 backup
  • Extra Heavy Armored Shell
  • 1x navicomputer
  • 3x docking ring with hull cutting tools.
  • Many escape pods

DESCRIPTION
Originally created for the use of the empire, the plans were lost in the destruction of the first Death Star. The plans were later recovered from the wreckage of the space station by none other then Tyber Zann of the Zann Consortium. He quickly put the plans into production making a great number of them for his criminal empire. After their first production, their plans eventually made it into the hands of Mandal Hypernautics where it was continued to be produced at a high rate.

The Vengeance-class Frigate is a heavily armed Frigate with 4 Mass driver cannons that are much like heavy turbo-lasers but are much more accurate at great distances and move at a higher rate, and 4 quad-heavy turbo lasers for the ships who ventured too close. Because of the exceedingly powerful armament, the ship is unable to use shields, so the ship is produced with extra thick armor to account for this. However, the thick armor also makes the movement speed and maneuverability of this juggernaut, sluggish at best.

In the modern era, Vengeance-class Frigates can occasionally be seen under the control of powerful pirate forces or in the possession of small planetary governments. They are an uncommon sight, though there is hope, as in more recent years Mandal Hypernautics has started reproduction of them upon commission.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Vengeance-class Frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a ship from Legends into the site's fannon. It has historical ties to the Zann Consortium.

RESTRICTIONS
Vengeance-class Frigates are capital ships, therefore these that cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.

So that you're aware, mass drivers do not penetrate shields in this setting any better than standard turbolasers.

I would recommend either making a MK. II of this frigate with a different armament, or lowering the ship's class, as it isn't really frigate sized. @Trix

I'm not sure what you mean by this comment - it is quite literally frigate sized based on the Anaxes War College System we used based on canon, whereby a frigate is 200-400 meters.

Equally if you mean in terms of weaponry its also frigate class as well, in line with such examples as the 891-E Akorec Strike Frigate, Arquitens-Class command Frgiate and Fremen-Class frigates.

@Trix - my own opinion is that this makes a good addition to the site's tech as it is, maybe with tweaks from mass drivers to turbolasers in line with what Autofox has said. I think making a MKII would blur the lines as Mandal Hypernautics is heavily involved in the Mandalorian faction's re-armament and if they made an updated warship it would stand to reason it would be for said war effort, not private commissions - whereas re-runs of the original line would make sense and leave it on the open market

Of course that's just my two cents

You're actually right, I think I mixed this up with Cruiser-class

Made the change so that they no longer penetrate shields better then turbo lasers.
