A rough for a character idea I'm toying around with. Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, all wery velcome.

P.S. Some of you might recognize him.

They've known me by many names.

Jaron Nasif - a professional mercenary employed by the Imperial Mercenary Command, MERCOM.

Jonah Quill - Adventurer, treasure hunter, rogue.

I've lived many lives, and worn many names. But most of you probably know me by another name. A name synonymous with passion, idealism, and an undying dedication to the Mandalorian culture. Someone once called me a warlord. But others have called me a soldier. A brother. A leader. As Aliit'alor of the most legendary of Mandalorian clans, Aliit'Fett, they knew me by the name Verus.

But times change, even for Mandalorians.

They also call me a dog of war. While they mean disrespect, I take pride in that. Dogs are loyal animals, even if war is their game. We Mandalorians thought the attack on the Mandalore System by the Imperials was the end. We were wrong, of course. We persevered, we fought, paid the Imperials back in blood. They rued the day they had poked the Mandalorian war hound. Clan Fett survived. Our culture survived.

Many protested my decision to form HELLFIRE Solutions, a private military group with its core originating in a small fraction of the unbreakable Clan Fett. Right or wrong, it was my decision. The galaxy changes, and even Mandalorians have to change with it, or perish. We changed, and as private military contractors, we thrived. HELLFIRE became synonymous with ruthless efficiency and absolute victory.

All good things come to an end though.

We all knew the risks when we signed up, me more than any other. Dying in battle was something I expected, rather than feared. It all happened during an attack on Tatooine. They tell me that the vehicle I rode in during the attack was hit by an rocket-propelled grenade. I don't remember much from the attack itself.

All I know is, when I woke up, I experienced pain unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I woke up to find my flesh replaced by metal and plastic. My limbs, my blood and bones replaced by steel and oil. They tell me that in order to save my life, over 75 percent of my boy had to be replaced with cybernetics and biomechanical organs.

Am I human? Am I machine? Such questions have entered my mind on occasion, in an effort to deal with this new reality of my existence. The answer I've come up with is not a conventional one.

I am neither man nor machine. I am only one thing.

A dog of war.

Verus Fett is dead. I am Jackal.

FIGHTING
Jackal utilizes a combination of different fighting styles and techniques for different situations. His repertoire includes military combat tactics, Mandalorian hand-to-hand combat fighting styles, parkour, and a heavy reliance on his cybernetics which gives him above-average human physical abilities.

MORALS
Jackal is a shadowy operative working in the dusky haze between night and day, good and evil. Whom he works for is veiled in secrecy. Some say he's a freelancer - others say he works for a secret society bent on world domination. His morals are an unknown factor, though some theorize that while his actions might not always seem moral, behind them lie a greater purpose or cause.

MEMORIES
Jackal has fractioned memories of his past as Verus Fett. There are big gaps, however, and he remembers nothing of the attack itself. The cybernetics in his brain are working to repair his memory bank, and each day he recalls more and more.

PHYSICAL
With over 75 percent of his body consisting of cybernetic implants and replacements, Jackal suffers from extreme fits of physical agony. However, his speed, strength and flexibility is greatly improved, as is his ability to take physical damage.

MENTAL
Jackal's mental health is stable, though he suffers from mild PTSD-like symptoms. He does not seem to resent his biomechanical body parts, nor does he dwell on his own be-or-not-be humanity.

MANDALORIAN?
Jackal does no longer wear beskar'gam in battle. He has discarded this in favor of simple camouflage fatigues, boots, a tactical-ballistic vest, and slugthrowing automatic weapons. While he still follows the resol'nare, it is more because of its coinciding with a standardized moral code of any soldier or warrior, than out of any reverence to the Mandalorian culture. In a way, Jackal perceives himself as having transcended his nature as a Mandalorian, but he rarely dwells enough on such thoughts to clarify the situation to himself.

Thanks, man! I'm thinking about bringing Verus Fett back. This was one of the ideas I had for him. I'm not yet sure which of my ideas I'll go with though. He's existed in so many incarnations already, too. XD

Adventures of the Damned
The Life and Tales of the Legendary Mercenary Verus Fett

Chapter 24: The Tatooine Years

I've gone by many names. Jaron Nasif, Jonah Quill, Joe Gutterson. I've lived many lives, and worn many more names. Someone once even called me a warlord. Others have called me a soldier. A brother. A mercenary and a leader. As head of the most legendary of Mandalorian clans, Aliit'Fett, most of the galaxy knew me as a Mandalorian, a son of the Taung and defender of the Resol'nare. Verus Fett was my name.

I have shared with you many of my wars, but there are thousands left to tell of. However, my fondest memories are my memories of peace, not of war. I have spent a lifetime, if not more, fighting in conflicts and strife all over the galaxy. The years of peace, or at least relative peace that I have lived, on the other hand, could be easily counted on one hand.

These were my years on Tatooine.

Someone once called me a dog of war. While they meant disrespect, I took pride in that. Dogs are loyal, honorable animals, even if war is their game. When the Imperials launched their fateful attack on the Mandalore System, me and mine became mercenaries, forming the private military company HELLFIRE Solutions - a PMC with its core originating in the unbreakable Clan Fett. We thrived as dogs of war.

It was a lifetime ago.

Everything changed after Tatooine, however. Everything. A lot of good soldiers died on that planet. Including the man they called Verus Fett. Without its leader, HELLFIRE returned to its Mandalorian roots, being absorbed by the Mandalorian Underground. And Verus Fett? Body never found, the PMC and its new Mandalorian owners assumed him dead, missing from the world.

In his place, a moisture farmer and hermit named Wilks made his appearance in the Dune Sea, a simple man who did his best to avoid drawing attention to himself. But as any man with a past, attention gravitated towards him, and unwillingly, Wilks in turn gravitated towards conflict and strife. Such was his destiny in life.

JAMES "WILKS" WILKINSON
Wilks is a hermit living out in the dangerous Dune Sea of Tatooine. He survives by moisture farming as well as salvaging. He has minimal contact with other people, and as far as anyone on Tatooine knows, he is just another moisture farmer, albeit also a hermit. He knows better than most how to survive in the Dune Sea.

FIGHTING
Wilks, when pushed, utilizes a combination of different fighting styles and techniques for different situations. His repertoire includes military combat tactics, deadly military hand-to-hand combat fighting styles and parkour. Many members of the Sand People have learnt the hard way the price of pushing Wilks.

MANDALORIAN?
Wilks does no longer wear beskar'gam. He has discarded this in favor of simple olive drab fatigues, boots, a tactical-ballistic vest, and slugthrowing automatic weapons. While he still follows the resol'nare, it is more because of its coinciding with a standardized moral code of any soldier or warrior or ex-such, than out of any reverence to the Mandalorian culture.
