DESCRIPTION
Shortly after news was leaked of a new model of the famous YT-1300 was being produced, competitors of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, were after its plans. A small group of engineers were not able to get the plans for the new ship, but were however, able to bribe one of the lead manufacturing minds from the YT-2000 project to lead their copycat project instead. The Valkyrie or VT-2000 was born that day.
The process of copying the YT-2000 had many drawbacks, the company had bribed the Corellian Engineer while they were still in the planning stages of the YT-2000 which meant the same roadblocks and hiccups that the CEC were running into, the Valkyrie project were running into the same. Only difference at that point was the CEC had much more funding and brilliant minds going into their project. This is where the two projects took the biggest turn from one another, and the point where the Valkyrie overall design was altered to fit its new path.
In the end, the Valkyrie project was barely completed and ran out of funding shortly after filling its first few orders. The owners started to cut every corner they could and started to name everything very similar to the CEC including the name of the company to the Corbin Engineering Corporation and the project from the Valkyrie to the VT-2000. It was a gimic to hopefully confuse a few of the buyers away from the purchase of a YT to a VT-2000. It worked, at least a little and the Corbin EC was able to live on a few more years before its final demise.
The VT-2000 was only mildly produced and those that have lasted these many decades are even fewer, however, they are still seen from time to time. For them to work in this day and age, their components have most likely been replaced with newer components of the same types.

Legal. Light freighters such as the Valkyrie are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.
