The Jakar family has always been one of passing interest on the Deep Core world of Byss. Many get confused and know that the Abyssin people come from the world, but in fact they come from another planet named Byss on the other side of the Galaxy. This immigrant family came to the core nearly a millennia ago. This has made them just as native as about any other to the planet, but it can still be an amusing anecdote in Byss society. The family is mostly upper-middle class or lower-upper class and has spread all over the planet in the last few hundred years. Vyss himself grew up in the government sector and his father had served over a decade as Minister of their province. His mother had a career in law enforcement and had immigrated to Byss from Byss to marry his father. When his father retired, the pair divorced and she returned to her homeworld. Vyss' father remained nearby but stayed out of politics as he settled into retirement.

No one in the family had ascended in politics beyond his father's role in all of its history on Byss. They simply were not renowned beyond in social circles for being 'on the wrong planet'. Vyss took a combination of his mother's law enforcement background and his father's political career to find his way into the federal services of Byss at a very young age. He worked as an agent from the age of twenty until he turned forty. This experience taught him how to use a weapon, fight in close quarters, and more. It also provided a career path into the government defense department. With twenty solid years of service under his belt, Vyss of Other Byss had insight many of the lifetime office workers could not match. After another twenty years as an all-star member of the department, he was appointed by the Byss senate and prime minister to serve as Minister of Defense.

The Galaxy has known little peace between major conflicts and serving as a defense minister in the Deep Core had its challenges. Skirmishes trickled their way to his home and shockwaves from the war impacted the planet indirectly with refugees, crime waves, and more. Before the Abyssin could blink his eye, another twenty years would fly by and the New Republic called for a Senator of Byss to join the Senate. Vyss Jakar was placed forth as a strong leader to represent the world after over sixty years of service to it.
