It was the influx of freighter ships constantly making trips to Takodana that made Kell's journey so easy. The journey from Coruscant was relatively simple apart from a rowdy group of Rodian traders. But Kell knew better than to step in in something as little as slight disruption. Stepping off the freighter, he was greeted with the verdant hills of Takodana. He had never been here before, but the lush, rolling hills was an environment that Kell found comfort with.

The grass padded Kell's feet as he strode off the landing bay. The Jedi Council had given him the task of delivering a Data Pad from a merchant in the upper levels of Coruscant to a connection he had out here; in the middle of nowhere. Striding forwards, Kell entered the thicket of a small trading town. He wasn't familiar with the name, but the coordinates he had provided at the Coruscant Transport Office had brought him here.

The streets were lined with merchants, peddling goods of a wide variety. Ranging from scavenged droid parts through to charms and cultural artefacts. The shouts of heavy barter darted past Kell like rebounding blaster fire. Reaching a crossway of paths, Kell approached a nearby merchant.

"I'm looking for the Corsus Cantina, I was wondering if you could give me directions?"

If he had to wait anywhere Takodana was a pleasant enough place to do it Klied figured as he strolled down the street. The lake-world was close enough to the frontier that he found the small dots of civilization mostly inoffensive to his senses. He was awaiting the arrival of some wealthy coreworld clients that wanted to go on safari and was told it would be a few more days before they reached the planet. In the meantime he was getting horrendously bored.

As he passed the merchant row on his way to get a drink he took notice of a robed man asking for directions. He also took notice of the lightsaber on his belt. That drew the hunter's interest. There was a bounty out on lightsaber wielders and Takodana wasn't at all beyond the reach of the Syndicates. In fact it was famous for being a refuge for all kinds of unsavory types that wouldn't think twice about starting a fight in the middle of a populated place for some quick credits. This guy had to be a tourist.

"I was just heading there myself." He cut in as he overheard the man's conversation with the merchant. He offered him a small grin and tried to look friendly. "I'll show you the way. Name's Klied." He offered a hand to shake. It was better to get this man off the streets before he inadvertently caused a scene. And the hunter could use a distraction from this monotonous day anyway.

Kell reached out and shook the mans hand. "A pleasure. My name is Kell." The man standing in front of him looked a little worse for wear, he was covered in an array of pelts that for the most part, Kell could not recognise. Kell followed this mans lead, he was quick and knew how to weave through the crowds. It wasn't long before they had pushed through the busy streets towards quieter backroads.

Kell was slighlty suspicious of the man he was following. He had appeared so suddenly, but Kell wasn't one to question irratic events, for who knows what the force will let be. Before long, the duo approached a dingy looking Cantina. It wasn't much of a sight apart from the drunk Gamorrean's arguing out front.

Once inside, Kell surveyed the room. It was quiet, the barkeep was wiping tables and the only other customers were a group of traders occupying a table in the corner. Kell approached the counter, beckoning for Klied to follow. "I'll have a water, thank you."

Klied gratefully shook Kell's hand before leading him to the cantina. Thankfully it wasn't that far of a walk. He was surprised the establishment was so empty. There weren't many cantinas around town and as unremarkable as it looked this was one of the better ones. The hunter smirked when his companion ordered water to drink.

"Not exactly what you come to a cantina for," He joked before looking to the bartender. "Dorian Quill. Double." The man behind the counter nodded before moving to pour them both their drinks. "Speaking of which..." The hunter continued as he looked back to Kell curiously. "What brings you to Takodana? The fishing?" He unstrapped his cycler rifle and leaned it against the bar before picking up his drink and taking a sip.

"I wish I could come out here to fish, I'm here on some business for an associate of mine", Kell took a sip of water before continuing, "I'm sure you're familiar with the sort of business, the kind that isn't worth my client making the trip for". Kell was cautious to reveal too much information. For all he knew this man could just be a lowly thief hoping to reap reward off a clueless traveler.

"How about yourself? I can't say you look local. To be frank, I can see that most of the pelts you're wearing are from off world creatures."

Klied wasn't exactly sure what to make of Kell's cryptic response. Was he some kind of courier then? Strange to think a Jedi would bother with a job like that. But he didn't press him on it. The hunter could tell the man was somewhat suspicious of him. He grinned in response to the man's question.

"You've got a good eye," He said as he brushed the gold colored fur of the vest he was wearing. "Corellian Dire-cat. Scored it on safari about two years ago. I'm here as a guide for some tourists." He scoffed and took another sip of his drink. "You won't find any prizes like that on this planet but my clients aren't looking for a challenge. They just want to feel like intrepid explorers. I'm sure you know the type."

The more he talked with Klied, the more at ease Kell became. "I can't say that Dire-Cat hunting is something I've ever thought of doing, but props to you. I try to stay out of conflict where I can, I find its best to use your words and keep the negotiations short."

The two men sat at the bar for quite some time, steady conversation and a shared intrigue was enough to pass the hours. The Cantina door slid open. Through the doorway trudged a ragged man, his arms hung behind his back while he swayed towards the counter. Taking a seat next to Kell, he turned towards him, surveying his posture and dress extensively before looking towards Kell's eyes, "Is this seat taken?". The Jedi kept his gaze on the man while giving his response, "I can't say it is".

The man looked towards Klied and nodded, acknowledging his presence before turning to the barkeep. "I'll have what he's having". Kell slowly drew his eyes from the ragged man back towards Klied. Nudging, Klied on the arm to get his attention, Kell lowered his voice, "Don't make a scene my friend, but it would be wise to be on your guard. My guts giving me a bad signal from this man".

"Ah but conflict is how we remember we're alive no?" Klied said as he downed the last of his drink, placing the glass on the bar and tapping the wood, asking for another. He looked back to the Jedi with a wild gleam in his eye. "There's nothing like that feeling, knowing you can die at any moment, from one wrong move..." As the bartender refilled his drink he picked it up and took another sip. "That's how we're meant to live. Down in the dirt where you're either strong and smart enough to survive or you're dead."

Klied enjoyed debating their differing viewpoints with Kell. It wasn't often he bothered to talk about such things with people. They continued on for quite some time, before the appearance of a new patron drew their attention. The hunter immediately scowled. Something was off about the newcomer. He already looked as though he had visited every cantina in town. But there remained a certain threatening aura around him, as though he could lash out violently at a moment's notice.

As the ragged man sat down next to Kell and started speaking to the Jedi Klied's hand reflexively went down to the hilt of his dagger, preparing for trouble. The Jedi must have sensed his unease for Kell then turned to him and urged peace quietly, without overlooking the danger. Klied offered a subtle nod in return. "Right..." He said slowly, his eyes drifting back to the newcomer suspiciously as he took his hand away from his dagger and grasped his glass again. He'd play along for now and let the Jedi handle things his way. He could always jump in if things went sideways.

The men sat at the bar in silence. Although he had his suspicions he didn't want to act impulsively. Before long, the man sitting next to Kell tapped him on the shoulder. "My friend, can I share a moment of my joy with you?". Kell was perplexed but curious, the man held out his hands for Kell to peer into.

"They're great little tools aren't they?". The man chuckled. "I find they're great conversation pieces. Why don't we head outside and finish this one?". Kell saw the imminent danger posed by a man wielding a thermal detonator. Kell looked towards Klied and signaled him with a nod of the head before turning back to the man settings terms of negotiation. "It would be a pleasure."

Klied's grip on his glass tightened as the thermal detonator came out, his eyes widening in surprise and fear. Was this guy insane? He worked his jaw uncomfortably but didn't say anything. He remained in his seat, still as a statue, watching the others out of the corner of his eye and listening closely to what was said.

As the bartender was approaching again he noticed the explosive as well and made a small gasp, clearly terrified. Klied made eye contact with him and shook his head in a very small motion. The bartender hesitated, but eventually nodded and walked away, entering a back room.

Klied nodded back to Kell, again a barely noticeable signal. He was on his toes now, no different than on the hunt in the jungle. So much for a boring day. Slowly he lowered his hand back to his dagger, making sure not to alert the other man. He drew it out of it's sheath a quarter of an inch, ready to strike on a moment's notice, but held his position. He wouldn't attack unless signaled by the Jedi, or unless he saw an opening. He grasped his glass with his other hand and took a small sip while looking forward blankly, trying to keep up the charade of an oblivious patron.

Kell followed the man out a backdoor of the cantina. It lead to a small courtyard with a foliage of trees in the center. Across the courtyard, Kell could see paths leading back out towards busier streets. Standing under an archway was a group of three figures. The man from the cantina beckoned him in their direction.

As Kell approached the group, he noticed the blasters they were holding underneath their cloaks. Two of the figures were laden in a brilliant red, something that would absolutely bring attention. The man at the forefront was clothed in a more rough and matted cloak. Kell could see the battle wear, and could feel an aura of combat experience from the man.

Kell and the craggy man approached the group. "Mishra, our dear friend has arrived". The cloaked figure turned around, he was tall and overlooked Kell.

"Sorry about the circumstances. But you've got some information that I need". The mask over his face prevented Kell from catching his eyes, but his gaze pierced through none the less. "I can't say you're being very specific. I'm a knowledgable man, what would you look to know?"

The masked man chuckled. "My name is Mishra. I think its important you know that I have a good network of informats, and I must say, one of these hard working informants has notified me that a Jedi is running post for the order here on Takodana." He turned towards the figures behind him and called them over with a hand gesture. "There is something else important you must know. This is my home turf and I can't say that I want you here". He paused, Kell could feel that Mishra was watching him, trying to invoke a reaction. "So I have a proposition for you. You hand over that datapad and I'll let you leave here. Free of charge".

"I can't do that i'm afraid. You're not the man I am here to meet. Therefore, you have no right to this data". Anger surrounded Mishra in an ominous yet quiet aura. Kell could sense danger, but he would not initiate combat. Bracing his saber, Kell waited for a response.

Klied was surprised as he watched Kell elect to leave through the back door with the stranger. He had thought the Jedi would be wise enough to exploit their two man advantage over this nutcase, but instead he seemed eager to follow him into a trap. It made him almost want to just let the man walk into his doom, but the hunter knew he wouldn't be able to live with that. He sighed, and the moment the other two exited the cantina he downed the last of his drink and slammed the empty glass on the bar before getting up and rushing towards the front door.

As he exited the cantina he moved around to peer in back, watching as Kell approached the three other men. So much for their numbers advantage. He didn't recognize the men or their uniforms, but could tell at once they were bad business. While they talked with Kell the hunter stealthily moved around them, taking up a position behind the group and unslinging his cycler rifle from his back, preparing to fire on a moment's notice. He peaked out from behind the pillar where he was waiting, so that only Kell would be able to see him. He nodded to the Jedi to let him know he was prepared to help, then disappeared again.

Once he realised that his drinking buddy had followed him out, Kell felt slightly more secure. "I appreciate your interest in this Data Pad but I am here on strict orders. I urge that you let me move on". Mishra scowled, the taunt of the Jedi was tempting. Tempting enough for him to draw his blaster and fire upon the Jedi.

Kell was quick to notice the blaster bolt headed towards him, but just as quick to notice the ragged man charging at him.. In the flicker of an eye, the verdant green blade of his lightsaber withdrew from the saber, creating a shimmer of green light that emitted a subtle warmth. It was in that moment that the mad man dropped to the floor and Kell focused himself on deflecting blaster bolts. All three of the armored men were ready to fire, Kell was ready to trust in the force and its outcome of this conflict.

The instant the blasters came out Klied reacted. Coming out from behind his cover he leveled his cycler rifle at the leftmost bodyguard and fired, the slug tearing through the man's shoulder from behind and sending him spiraling to the ground with a pained cry. Mishra and the remaining thug turned towards him, caught by complete surprise.

The leader barked an order for his bodyguard to deal with Klied while he turned his focus on the Jedi. Well, at least things were a bit more even now. Klied ducked behind cover again as the red-cloaked man advanced on him, firing his blaster wildly to keep him pinned. The beast hunter pulled back the bolt on his rifle, letting the empty shell go flying before slamming it back into place. In the distance he could hear civilians screaming as a panic broke out. These men weren't messing around, and he doubted they had any qualms about letting innocents get caught in the crossfire.

The man behind Mishra fell to the ground, notifying the group of Klied's presence. While the other bodyguard made his way in Klieds direction, Kell and Mishra were left to settle their conflict alone. Kell took a few steps backwards, his saber serving as a shield for the volley of ongoing blaster bolts. Taking a defensive stance, he focused on reflecting the bolts back towards Mishra. Kell had never been much of a fighter, and his deflected bolts made indents into the archways of the courtyard. Suddenly, the arch that Mishra was standing under started to crumble, but not before he was able to aptly avoid the rubble and take cover behind a nearby pillar.

Kell made use of this opportunity and darted towards Mishra's position. He had no intention of ending the man's life, but he was confident that he could disarm him. As Kell moved towards Mishra's cover, he watched as the man lugged a small round object towards him. A flash grenade. Kell only had seconds to act, he dived for the pile of rubble that had formed from the fallen archway to use for cover.

He could hear the pulses coming from the device as it prepared to detonate. Over the sound of its constant beep he heard Mishra shout, "You don't know much about our operations in these parts Jedi, but do understand I will kill you before you get off this planet". The sound of the explosion was piercing as much as the flash was blinding. Kell had managed to keep himself safe behind the rubble, but the explosion had completely disoriented him. Acting quickly, Kell tried to draw his focus from his physical senses back to the force. He searched for movements, and could sense that Mishra was moving from behind the pillar. Kell felt him move into his line of sight, but the flash from the grenade prevented him from seeing the armor-clad man.

Kell could sense that Mishra was approaching, blaster in hand. He needed a moment to recover his senses. Reaching out to the force, Kell propelled Mishra backwards with an abrupt push, sending him across the courtyard and to the ground. Mishra stood up, brushed himself off and proceeded to walk back towards the blinded Jedi.

Klied drew his knife as he remained behind the pillar, listening closely to hear the footsteps on the old stonework as his opponent approached. He never liked killing sentients, but he wasn't about to hold back when his life was on the line. The barrel of a blaster peeked around the corner and the hunter leapt into action, grabbing the muzzle with his free hand and pushing it away as he came out from behind cover, swinging his blade at the bodyguard.

There was a red flash as the weapon went off, the blaster bolt harmlessly hitting the wall behind them. The bodyguard managed to duck back just in time to avoid having his throat cut, retaliating by swinging the butt of his rifle towards Klied's jaw. The hunter blocked the blow with his forearm and grabbed the rifle, wresting it from the man's grasp before throwing it aside.

He took another swing at the bodyguard and another, the red-cloaked man managing to evade him each time. Ducking under another attack he wrapped his arms around Klied's waist and pulled him to the ground, the knife going flying as the two men grappled with each other. The archway collapsed beside them as their fight continued, Klied not realizing much of what was going on in the chaos. Neither men seemed to notice the flash grenade in fact.

The bodyguard had managed to get the upper hand, straddled on top of the hunter and laying into him with his gauntleted fists when the explosive went off. Both men were blinded by the blast, but Klied recovered more quickly. Reaching out he grabbed a piece of rubble from the collapsed archway and bashed it against the side of the bodyguard's helmet, knocking him off. Klied rolled on top of the man and hit him twice more for good measure before turning back to the others. His ears were ringing and he was seeing double, but he could make out Mishra moving towards the disoriented Jedi.

Slowly he got to his feet and shouted incoherently, trying to draw the man's attention. It seemed to work, Mishra looked right at him. Klied stumbled forward and threw the debris towards him, but the man didn't even have to dodge it, the stone flew quite wide of it's intended target. Mishra chuckled and leveled his blaster at the hunter, preparing to fire. Conveniently he had left Kell an opening, but he would need to act fast.

As his senses began to restore themselves, Kell became aware of the diversion that Klied had created. Swiftly, Kell slashed his saber blade across the body of Mishra's blaster. The attack managed to destroy the blaster and the heat from the lightsaber was searing on Mishra's gauntlets, causing him to recoil his hands.

Following the flow of his previous attack, Kell focused his attunement with the force to propel Mishra backwards towards the ground. Dashing towards the fallen man, he drew his lightsaber and pointed it at Mishra. He had no intention of further aggregating. "You're without your men and without your blaster. There must be another way we can settle this". Kell was direct with his words, almost fed up in his articulation.

Mishra chuckled. His facial expression gave Kell the indication that this wasn't the situation he thought he would end up in. "I'm going to be frank with you Jedi. Whoever brokered a deal with your order to get this delivered never intended for it to arrive. I don't know if anyone was going to be there to pick it up in the first place". He smirked, Kell could see he was enjoying this. "What you're carrying is coordinates to a nice fleet of starfighters, nothing too major, but enough to really flaunt some power. My client told me that if I could confirm the datapad, I'd be given a share of the ships to keep things in check here on Takodana".

Kell was confused. "Why would this client want their own ships stolen?". Mishra giggled, shaking his head. "You jedi are so naive. How do you know they were theirs in the first place?". Mishra was right and Kell was slightly embarrassed at his mocking of the Jedi Order. Kell retracted his saber, looked up to Klied and signaled for him to come down.

Klied shook the stars from his eyes, slowly coming too. After retrieving his weapons and making sure Mishra's men were down for the count he rejoined Kell, listening to their conversation. It looked like he had walked into a much bigger situation than he expected, but then again Jedi were like that. Things were never simple with them around. He didn't pretend to understand what was going on.

"It appears you've been had my friend," He said to Kell. "Would probably be wise to get off-world before these 'clients' come after you. Maybe report this business to the Sector Rangers." He looked down at Mishra. "It would also be wise to kill this one. He'll come after you again otherwise." At his words he leaned forward a bit and grasped the handle of his hunting knife, trying to intimidate their attacker. Maybe he could be swayed to say more.
