She watched with delight to the gradual transformation of Emryc's face from stoic to genuinely stunned by her plan. It clicked with him why she had chosen to share with the Eternal the details of the hypergates and it would be why she was soon meeting with Blackwell executives. An arms race, that would lead the Eternal to focus back to her, but she hoped by that time, she would have grown strong enough to hold her own against it. The look of surprise was of course, cherished, Tiamat couldn't remember the last she had surprised Emryc, or if she did, perhaps he never showed her. Regardless, as brief as it was, she saw a part of him that contrasted greatly against the politician and the Darth.

There was of course more to this plan, but she paused as she suddenly saw his features change when he quickly looked away, cautioning her against revealing further. Tiamat frowned and glanced back at her table while sliding a finger across, the images quickly flickered away and the plans for the hypergate appeared instead before she shut it down. He admitted his own ambition with the ISC and how it may deviate from the overall goal of the Sith. Her brow narrowed in curiosity, there was something bothering him about it, he was just uneasy, possibly conflicted.

Tiamat nodded and didn't press further, what they just revealed to one another could earn them the immediate wrath of the Eternal as well as dire consequence of those she saw as allies and even friends. Silence would benefit them both.

She gently laid her hand on his armored forearm as she passed by him. "Helmet on, lets go eat, I promise nothing spicy, I still can't handle it." she said almost defeatedly as she had tried many dishes since them, with no success. Waiting for him to return his helmet before leaving the lab, she lead the way, "Did you use your ship, Ship to come here?" she asked.

Emryc glanced down where she laid her hand against his forearm before announcing that they were leaving. The half Sephi shrugged vaguely before popping his helmet back on. She couldn’t see the bemused expression on his face at her question, “Of course I used Ship,” He grumbled in response, as if insulted she would suggest anything else. Any other ship was simply inferior in his eyes. Her question also suggested that she was casually telling him he needed to haul them wherever they went.

The half Sephi led the way back to his ship, people clearing the path for them. He hadn’t exactly been keeping track of his reputation with the Sith, but apparently he was known to be terrifying. The two were given a wide berth on their way back.

Emryc walked up the ramp and pressed the button to let them in. The ship always had a sense of familiarity to those that spent a lot of time on it. There was the smell of his cologne, but also the subtle hints of citrus and herbs that vaguely lingered.

The half Sephi closed the ramp and the doors, taking his helmet off and setting it down. Emryc stretched before making his way towards the cockpit.

“Where are we going?”

He seemed offended when she asked about Ship and the redhead scoffed to his response, "Well, I'm glad, because if anything more happened to that ship, I swear Emryc..." the cheek was followed with a warning under her breath as she thought about what she would do if she learned his ship had been taken again. To an extent, she valued it, to the extreme of Emryc's own devotion to it, but enough so she would see that he would always have his ship or find a way to return it to him.

The halls they passed fell eerily silent as they walked, the path cleared with their presence. Tiamat knew the half-Sephi had built a reputation unlike herself. Many knew how to identify her, the red hair was an attractive beacon, but she worked in mystery, keeping to the confines of her lab except for the occasional social gathering and her morning meditations and practice. It made her wonder if anyone could define her, fear and intimidation seemed to bring one center to the spotlight. She did not see herself as either. Her thoughts faded for later exploration as they entered the hanger, Emryc leading the way onto his ship to where Tiamat found familiarity.

It smelled like him, the cologne and all the other subtle, yet inviting scents that followed him. He asked where they were going and Tiamat blurted out, "My place." rather absent minded about the specifics as though he had gone there dozens of times already. It wasn't the first she had ever done that to him, and she could already feel the glare that came, "Um...Kaas City, the twin high rises, my flat is there." she said following him to the cockpit to sit, hands to herself ensuring she wasn't tempted to touch anything on the control console.

Tiamat remained silent as she watched, her stomach growled in protest to delay of a meal; most of the time, she just scooted down to the mess hall for some slop they served. Some days servings were better than others, though it made her more appreciative of nutrient drinks or shakes, but that was a fact she would not openly admit to Emryc ever. She sunk comfortably into the seat as he took off, her thoughts returned to the earlier conversation, she opened her mouth to say something, but paused, ensuring she had the right words as she watched the low hanging clouds swirl around the ship as it propelled across the sky.

"I like the ISC." she started, glancing to Emryc before turning attention back to the viewport, "If something ever happens to me, I will make sure my droid delivers you the blueprints." Tia stated softly, mindlessly finding a lock of hair to comb with her fingers.

Emryc stared at her blankly as she said ‘my place’. He bit back from making a quip about how he expected her to be homeless from the way she dressed. The half Sephi revved up the engines once they were in the cockpit. Regardless of how many apartment plans were made, his ship would always be his first home. It had been his safe space for as long as he could remember, and to have it returned had only made him appreciate it more. He hadn’t missed Tiamat’s fierce comments about the ship suggesting that she felt strongly about it as well.

As they took off from the port and towards the atmosphere, Emryc’s sharp ears could make out Tiamat’s stomach growling above the sounds of the engines. The half Sephi kept his gaze trained ahead, “I have MREs and granolas back there,” He reminded her. Everyone that ever came on his ship knew he had a very pathetic selection of snacks and foods. However, he did have a large selection of veggie snacks ready at all times - most of which no one else liked.

He was silent after Tiamat spoke about the ISC, guiding the ship towards Kaas City. The journey wouldn’t take too long from here and they would be touching down in an hour.

“Nothing will happen to you,”
Emryc stated flatly after a while as if it were a promise. It was refreshing to actively pilot his ship - most of his trips were off planet and meant hyperspace jumps with autopilot. The half Sephi was actively focused on flying right now.

She remembered the MREs and the redhead frowned recalling how many of them she used to eat during her early years of training. They were easy and portable and some of them were ok, and others were the worst tasting; having compared to trash scrapes she used to find more appetizing than the MREs that were in existence, she was certain some MREs had to be jokes. She made a face recalling one in particular that was supposed to be some noddle dish, with the texture of watered sand and the taste of cardboard. Thinking about it at least settled any thoughts of what food sounded good until they arrived to her place.

Her head turned to glance at Emryc when he spoke up after long period of silence, ensuring nothing would happen to her. Tia observed him for a moment, trying to decide to refute what sounded like a promise, but instead turned her attention back to the window. It did not mean she would stop thinking about it, and she wasn't sure if it brought reassurance since there were so many other factors in life that were not in her control, nor his in fact. She even questioned if he said the same thing to Malicia, they were married after all, and the fate of the former councilor was unknown. Bottom line of course was putting her trust in an other, and even after all these years, it still brought her to pause before doing so.

The rest of the way remained in silence; once the ship had landed in the hanger, Tiamat lead him to her apartment, though as she had used an access code to enter the building, to enter her place was entirely different. Having discarded her trust in keys and access cards, she raised her palm, her fingers twitched slightly as the Force seemed to twist and contort in a small pattern, only then it seemed to unlock and allowing her and Emryc inside.

A large flat, it had seemed to have been overtaken quickly by the shelves of books that lined along the walls, many of them were on a variety of physics and other astro-sciences, but there was also a large segment of classic literature from Alderaan, Corellia, and Chandrila; and here and there speckled a book on some sort of history topic. There was a couch to sit, half of it seemed to be overtaken by a stack of books on engineering; across was a holovision set and gaming system that looked untouched for some time, and where there were not any books or shelves on the walls, there were several framed show posters from the Corellian Ballet. Two adjacent rooms connected to the living room area, one was a bedroom, the other had been converted to a small practice room with mirrors along the walls and a barre fitted to one of the walls.

Tiamat headed toward the kitchen after removing the stack of books from the couch to the floor, "Make yourself at home?" she had to think about those words, her brow furrowed in her thoughts, it probably was the first she ever said them, "or comfortable at least." she added. It was clear she never expected guests, the dining area was invaded by a large work table in the corner; she checked on the pattern of glass-like plates to ensure they remained how she left them before getting to work in the kitchen.

Emryc watched Tiamat use the Force to enter the apartment, a single eyebrow raising beneath his helmet. He vaguely wondered if she were actually breaking into someone else’s place. Naturally, none of this was voiced aloud.

As soon as they entered and he saw the mess of books everywhere and the general sense of clutter, he was reassured that this was definitely her place. He took his helmet off and didn’t respond as she told him to make himself at home. The half Sephi casually plopped down on the couch and switched on the Holo.

The first thing to crop up was a channel dedicated to ISC news. Naturally this meant it was immediately playing one of his speeches on the latest developments. Emryc’s eyebrow slanted up yet again as his head tilted ever so slightly in the direction Tiamat went. The half Sephi promptly changed the channel, flipping through till he landed on a sports channel.

It wasn’t Emryc’s nature to rifle through anyone’s belongings. He left the books entirely untouched, focusing on just watching Holo while waiting for her. Instead of Huttball, he was watching another sport he liked that involved kicking a ball around towards a goal. It was more popular in the Core Worlds, but it could also be entertaining though it lacked enough violence for his tastes.

Tiamat heard the stations change while she heated up everything, warming the soup and grilling cheese between two buttered slices of bread. She had no clue if he ate this, but she guessed if he didn't like it, there would be more for her. There was the distinct sound of cheering coming from the holo and she leaned over to peek slightly at what he was watching given she recognized the accents from the core and inner colonies. An eyebrow lifted slowly and she turned her attention back to the sandwiches, ensuring they were just the right crispiness on both sides before placing them on a plate and then pour some soup into two coffee mugs.

Soon Tiamat would join him, balancing with ease the plates on top of the mugs as she sat on the couch next to him and handed him his pairing. Her eyes seemed glued to the holo as she watched the players move between the goalposts, and frowned, her face contorting with sudden annoyance as she took a sip of her soup from the coffee mug.

"Rendili are a bunch of cheaters, just watch, see how they're losing, once the clock hits eight minutes, they always start making the refs pull penalties." she said taking another sip of her soup before she bit into her sandwich; clearly this was not the first game she had ever watched of it. One of the Rendili players bumped into their opponent and falling to the ground, "See! See that," she pouted, not even getting a chance to swallow before she gave her own commentary.

Emryc was casually sprawled on the couch, only half paying attention to the game by then. He had his datapad up, running a game of Qwent. This had been one of the things he had sorely missed when he didn’t have his sight for almost a year. The half Sephi didn’t look up as Tiamat walked in, but the smell of the food made him pause.

Silver gaze looked right to the food, eyeing it suspiciously as he set the game aside and took the plate and mug. He blinked at it for a few moments, never having tried such a strange combination of ingredients. However, it certainly looked nice and bland which he preferred.

“You can’t possibly expect me to touch this with my bare hands,” Emryc declared after he surveyed the sandwich from all angles. He shot her a look of clear disapproval. Instead he reached for the mug, sniffing carefully before taking a sip. His eyebrows rose in mild surprise, “Hmm,” was all that was said. In Emryc language that was about as close to ‘wow this is great’ as he ever got.

Silver eyes flicked up at the screen as she pointed out the players calling penalty. The half Sephi stared for a moment, watching the sequence happen again.

“It’s a pity the players can’t simply be maimed off the field.”

There was a look of puzzlement on Emryc's face as he inspected the food and Tiamat watched closely as she took a bite from her sandwich without much thought. He seemed to like the soup and after her complaints of the Rendili spaceball team she got up from her seat, disappeared into the kitchen, and came back with a small knife and couple pieces of parchment paper. The game was showing reruns of the penalty and Emryc express his dissatisfaction that there was not enough violence. Tia looked up and then back down as she cut his sandwich in half, diagonally, and then wrapped the sandwich corners with the paper so he had a barrier between his fingers and the food before sliding the plate back to him.

"If they allowed maiming, it wouldn't be friendly to the families in the core." she said matter-of-fact as she cut her sandwich diagonally too and the leaned back on the couch with her mug. "Super serious about fighting even." Tia started to explain and dipped a corner of her grilled cheese into her soup, "My parents signed me up for a kids league after seeing my first game." she took a bit of her sandwich, sighing happily to the combination of soup and sandwich, "Got kicked out after two games. Apparently it was ok for the other kids to sing a song they made about me, and not ok for me to give their ring leader a black eye." Tiamat fell quiet thinking about the incident and she smirked to herself about it.

"Kids are so mean, they sang this song, Lying Lyra, Lying Lyra, Her parents are Pigs and they'll shoot you dead! Lying Lyra-Carrothead!" Tia smiled, though at the time, the six year old found it horrible. She fell silent once more as she refocused on the game, the other team, Balmorra Vipers, seemed to not be set back by the dirty plays of Rendili. Occasionally, Tia would gasp from a close call or an excellent play.

Emryc was content to just have the soup, barely noticing when Tiamat moved to get something else. He was focused back on the game and replays when he caught her cutting his sandwich for him. The half Sephi watched curiously as she followed up with putting paper around the pieces so he wouldn’t have to touch. The fact that the gesture was tender, warm and possibly a very clear display of love and affection was entirely lost on the frigid Sith Lord.

He blankly stared at the sandwich and reached over to try a bite. Silver eyes widened in surprise at the burst of flavor from such a bland looking dish. It was tasty and bland in exactly the ways he liked. Emryc soon dipped it into the soup and took another bite, face caught in surprise as if he made a planet shattering discovery.

He paused to tell her he found the taste appealing, but she launched into stories. Emryc continued to eat in silence, wondering why she told him excerpts about her past. He never cared about backstories and, to his credit, he seldom put others through listening to any of his. Having learned from the past, Emryc kept his opinions to himself, letting her tell her woeful tales of childhood.

The half Sephi was looking back at the game as he helped himself to the second half of his sandwich.

“Who’s Lyra?” He asked after a while to at least somewhat participate in the conversation instead of his usual silence.

Tiamat sipped from her mug, noting how Emryc must have been enjoying the meal since now he was on his second half of the sandwich. She felt a bit of satisfaction, knowing he did not like spicy, it was the one thing that had popped in her mind as to something that was far from peppery. Though it would be short lived as he spoke, asking who was Lyra.

Tia smirked, thinking she had misheard him, but as she thought a bit harder, her smirk faded and frown appeared realizing he still never knew her name prior to Tiamat. She knew the reason he had never asked for it, but to simply just not to know, that seemed odd, almost ridiculous. The redhead gave a half-hearted chuckle that came out mostly as a sigh.

"Me, I was Lyra." she tried to turn her attention back on the holo, the game continued, but her thoughts were moving and it was hard to focus on what anyone was doing in the game. She shook her head and shrugged her shoulders, "I thought it was interesting I could recall the song so well after all these years." she took a bite of her sandwich, "Doesn't matter." her gaze fell to the remainder of soup in her cup as she gently swirled it around, watching the crumbs that floated on top, cluster together.

"If you want the maiming, you can change it to huttball, I don't mind." she said deciding to finish off her soup.

Emryc stared at her, blinking a few times. Though his face was largely impassive, those that knew him well would recognize the look more accurately as this.

“Oh, carrothead because of your…” His gaze flicked up to her hair. Emryc suddenly had to cough and clear his throat before looking back at the game. He kept largely silent as Tiamat went down some rather angsty self reflections. Out of the corner of his eye he could see he was losing his Qwent match, but he actively didn’t reach for it. That was his version of a gesture of affection that would likely be overlooked as he had done with her.

Silvers flicked back up at the Holonet as he pretended not to notice that Tiamat was getting into a mood again. That or he truly didn’t notice it - it was always hard to tell with the man.

“Nah,” Emryc stated as he switched channels to the the beginnings of a horror movie. He went back to eating his sandwich, making himself comfortable in the couch.

“I’ve begun to make a conscious effort to watch these without questioning their logic,” He explained matter-of-factly as the opening credits rolled over a spooky graveyard. Morgan had complained enough about Emryc’s constant fact and logic debunking of scary movies to where he chose to keep his mouth shut. Actively trying to enjoy said movies would be a new initiative entirely.

She continued to eat, finishing the last half of her sandwich quicker than she expected, finding a bit of disappointment at the last bite and for a moment it took her away from the fact he did not know her name for what, six...seven years? Her brow narrowed, but relaxed as he decided against Huttball, her eyebrows raised in curiosity as she glanced up at him and then back at the Holo when he changed the station. She watched curiously first as she tried to figure out what type of show or movie it was until the holocam panned down to the graveyard.

"Q-questioning their logic?" she shifted in her seat, and set down her empty mug, "Are you sure you don't want to watch huttball?" she asked reading the names of the actors and actresses in the film and the music grew darker. When he didn't change the station, Tiamat frowned, "I mean, heh, these movies are just stupid," she laughed, now noticeably uncomfortable, "Just stupid and not real-" she paused as the disclaimer came to explain the movie was based on true events. She internally groaned; the redhead leaned as far back into the couch as she could, as though it would distance her from the holo-horror film.

Tiamat was quiet as she watched, but it was clear her heart was racing just a little bit faster as she watched the two teens play around in the graveyard at night. She just knew something horrible was going to happen! It was quicker than expected, there was a jump scare and it suckered the redhead into the fright as she gasped, turning her head into Emryc's arm to advert her eyes, only peeking when she heard the two main characters laughing. It was a false alarm, but it didn't deter Tia's nervousness.

Tiamat’s growing anxiety over the movie was exactly why Emryc didn’t bother to change the channel. As usual, his face was completely blank as he watched the scenes play out. He could feel Tiamat shift and panic next to him and he sat calmly, internally breaking apart each and every scene. At one point he was irritated to spot the dates on the gravestone of a historical person that clearly hadn’t existed in that time period.

The half Sephi was distracted when the redhead next to him suddenly turned into his arm. Emryc didn’t react, keeping his stoic and cool demeanor. He sipped from his soup with his free hand since soup made for some fantastic movie snacking after all.

As the movie went further on, Emryc kept his gaze on the screen. However, he randomly used the Force to make a book suddenly fall off the shelf and to the floor behind them. The half Sephi quickly looked at Tiamat.

“Did you hear that?”

By now the overall atmosphere was perfect for the movie, the sky outside became overcast with dark clouds and soon there were rumbles of thunder that followed the lightning. Rain started to tap against the windows and Tiamat, was not doing any better with the movie. She started to think of excuses as to why she suddenly couldn't watch it anymore but couldn't bring herself to move from her spot. She was afraid if she put her feet down something will grab her ankle and if she went into one of the other rooms, well, those were dark, and after seeing what happened in dark rooms on this movie, she was a bit hesitant.

Tiamat glanced up at Emryc as she seemed to have attached to his arm, and tried to read what he was thinking about this movie, but all she could see was his emotionless features outlined by shadow and occasionally highlighted by the flashes of lightning. She turned attention to the movie which seemed to be endless; the couple from the beginning found others and now they were trying to survive the night until sunrise, which was taking so long; she nearly checked to see if the movie was as long as it was in real life until the next sunrise. Regardless, the earlier issue about him not knowing who Lyra was seemed to have been buried for now.

There was a sudden clatter behind the couch and it was enough to get Emryc's attention and Tiamat froze in stillness as he asked if she heard it. "Yes..." she spoke, but it came out a few octaves higher than expected, "What was that?!" she whispered, trying to resist looking over her shoulder in case the creature was real after all and now it was here, in her home because they dared to watch this movie about it!

"You, you should look!" she whispered nearly feeling a panic, "And turn on a light, just in case." she said feeling it would deter any monsters that could be hiding.

Emryc bit the inside of his lip as Tiamat’s voice came out so high that his ears twitched. A lifetime of keeping a stoic visage meant he looked entirely serious as he gazed at her. As she told him to investigate, Emryc nodded, “All right,” He glanced down, “But you’ll have to let go of me,” He looked back at her as if she would never see him again.

Easing himself out of her vice grip, he walked around to investigate the noise. As he did so, he knew Tiamat would be way too terrified to look. The storm began to pick up and there was a tree right outside the window. Emryc casually sat down on the floor behind the couch and took out his datapad to continue his Qwent game.

At the same time, he used the Force to make the branch of the tree outside come close to rake and scratch against the glass like nails clawing at it. As if nature wanted to help with his antics, there was a loud clap of thunder and lightning that cast a shadow of the eerie branches clawing against the window. This would manifest in the wall in the room across from Tiamat.

If she turned around, naturally, she wouldn’t see anyone there because Emryc was sitting on the ground. Without warning, the window abruptly opened by itself, letting in a howl of the wind and knocking over several books.

The half Sephi kept a straight face the entire time, glancing back at his datapad as he won a second round of the game. To say that the man was thoroughly entertained was an understatement. The entire time he knew no one could pay Tiamat to check where he was.

He agreed to go look, but was he afraid also? He sounded worried and her blue eyes widened with the shared concern. Tiamat slowly released him as he stood up and the redhead pulled her knees into her chin, able to avert her eyes from the movie that kept playing on the holo. The storm outside intensified and she swore there were new noises, now scratching on the window, and she thought it could have been the trees. However, the trees were too far from the side? Weren't they?

She hugged her knees in closer and tried to muffle a worried whimper as she heard the screams and squish of wet flesh on the Holo. The woman closed her eyes tighter, wiggling uncomfortably, "Emryc?"

She suddenly realized she couldn't hear or see him; did he go and look for a light-switch, but all so she could see were the ominous shadows casted along the wall, "Emryc?!" she called out again and nothing and slowly started to turn her head anticipating the worse when the window suddenly blew open: wind and rain blew in, books clattered to the ground, and it was all overshadowed by the high pitch scream she let out. The scare was enough to cause her to jump several feet, losing any sense of how gravity worked and biffing it face first into the floor.

The woman let out a groan as she pushed herself up, realizing she was not in the safety the couch any longer. She scrambled up and ran over to the window, closing it, fearful the creature got inside; there was a click of the lamp and she let out a sigh of relief it still worked, but then she turned and saw Emryc on the floor playing his game.

"HEY!" she cried out, but paused when she was interrupted by the screams on the Holo movie and turned her head away from it. Her eyes narrowed when she saw a book removed from its spot on the shelf, "Hey!" Tiamat was slowly starting to realize what may have happened. "That's not funny, Emryc!" she stated firmly and picked up the fallen book from the shelf and sat down next to him, "But," her voice lowered, "Are you done watching that movie?" she asked in a whisper.

Emryc looked visibly surprised when Tiamat came around the corner. The half Sephi flashed her a grin, having been thoroughly entertained from her forgetting that the Force was a thing for a while. He had finished up his game, moving to stand as he looked out at the tumultuous storm outside. Emryc then looked back at her.

“Of course I’m not done watching the movie. I want to know if Sandi is possessed,” Emryc remarked flatly, surprising himself that he actually remembered a character’s name. He glanced back out the window. The ship was parked at a bay that was a bit of a walk from here.

“I may need to borrow an umbrella on my way back after this,” He muttered grumpily, staring at the storm.

Her face contorted into a pout when he informed her that he was not done watching the movie. She cautiously peeked over her shoulder to the holo and let out a nervous groan in her displeasure for his decision. Tiamat quickly gathered the empty plates and her mug, trying to busy herself from paying attention to the movie as it continued; she heard Emryc and looked at the window, the rain continued to fall hard and she frowned, "Just wait until it blows over." she stated before she even had a moment to think about that statement.

Tiamat internally frowned as she hustled the plates and cup to the sink, setting them down lightly, "Do you have to leave soon?" she asked. Perhaps if he did have to leave, it would be a good thing. It seemed they always reached a certain point where everything would just unravel and it would no longer be pleasant. It didn't sit well with the redhead regardless, even in their worst moments, she still missed him terribly. He did ask his questions, had gotten his answers, perhaps it was all that he wanted, the idea to just spend time together just for the sake of it, was that even a thing? What did she want?

That, she did not know.

"If you want to stay until it passes, you can. Otherwise, I'm sure I have an umbrella you can use." she said while she begun to look for it. She was careful not to go into the dark rooms until she flipped the illuminator switch first.

Watching the movie by himself was sufficiently less entertaining. He glanced over at Tiamat when she asked about leaving soon. He opened his mouth to answer, but closed it instead. He thought back to his own words back in her lab, when she had asked how long he would stay. The half Sephi ran his fingers idly through his hair before he silently rose to grab the dishes. A neat freak by nature, he had no qualms with cleaning up. A quick flick of the Force sent the books back in their designated shelves.

He took over the dishes, absentmindedly cleaning them off while she wandered off to find an umbrella. Emryc put them away before drying his hands and walking to find her. The thunderstorm began to get worse, a clap of thunder loud enough to make the floors and walls tremble. He stepped out into the hallway from the kitchen, turning towards Tiamat and promptly hitting his head on a light fixture.

Emryc glared at the fixture and ducked under it, rubbing his forehead grumpily as he looked at her.

“What do you want to do instead of the movie then?”
