Jedha
Dawn, before the temple

Ekaj sat cross legged atop a pillar deep in meditation. His focus on where the force took him, he could feel the movement, smell it but all he saw was a light in the far distance. The big problem in letting the force show you things was that often it had zero context. Was he seeing some thing, was it a vision, was that vision of the past, present or future or was it meaningless. Still when he woke it was sudden that Ekaj all most fell of the pillar he climbed on top of. He hoped no one had seen him.

Fresh air filled his lungs and the Knight wiped yet another bead of sweat from his brow before it had the chance to fall into his eyes. His chest expanded outwards as he breathed in through his nose and collapsed towards his body as he exhaled through pursed lips. Running was as familiar to Kaizer as firing a weapon or igniting his lightsaber, mainly because he did it every day. His lightsaber bounced on his left hip and his Jedi tunic was damp with sweat. The Knight wore a backpack-based hydration system that allowed him to carry water in a manner that didn't require a bulky canteen. Plus, it helped satisfy Kaizer's need to run with weight.

It was a habit that he picked up in the military. Had he known the euphoria that could be received once you hit your runner's high, Kaizer liked to think that he would have picked up the habit on Dantooine, though part of him knew that it would have been impossible. From the time he was in basic training, however, they had them running almost everywhere. They ran from sun-up to sun-down and, many times, from sun-down to just before sun-up. The cadre had to get untrained civilians into shape somehow and, considering how much running they were expected to do during combat, running all day seemed like the best option. The cadre explained it that running enabled them to prepare for the worst, regardless of what "the worst" was. Kaizer took it to heart and learned to enjoy running, though the dire situation that the Jedi were in made him feel as if the worst was yet to come. As such, Kaizer ran quite a lot, using it to both relax and to focus his mind so that he could come up with solutions to problems that hadn't presented themselves.

The Knight was a fair distance away from the Temple when he felt the presence of a fellow Jedi. While he could not see said Jedi, he felt the calmness emanating through the Force. Knowing he was due for a short break, Kaizer adjusted his course to head towards the center of the calmness.

It took a few minutes, though Kaizer was soon able to see the man sitting atop a pillar, his legs crossed in front of him. Kaizer had not met this Jedi before, though if said Jedi tended to hang out in the middle of nowhere, Kaizer understood why. The Knight was about to slow to a walk when he noticed the man seemingly come back to life and struggle, briefly, to stay atop his pillar. The thought that the man would fall, possibly to his death, caused Kaizer to speed up, though the Knight slowed to a stop near the base of the pillar once it became obvious that the Jedi on the pillar would not fall. "Afternoon, friend. Perhaps you should learn to balance on the ground before you try it on top of a pillar." As he finished yelling up at the other Jedi, Kaizer couldn't help but chuckle to himself. While he couldn't imagine the embarrassment that might result from almost being caught falling, Kaizer could easily imagine the injuries sustained from falling from the top of a pillar and, unfortunately, Kaizer didn't think to bring a litter and an aid bag with him.

Ekaj blushed red as his embarrassing moment was seen. Standing up right on the pillar Ekaj took a step off. As he fell he braced his legs and kept his hands out stretched as the force swelled bellow him slowing his fall. Landing with a soft thud he stood up. It was clear his guest was the out door activity type, one who took more solace from a mountain climb than the view.

"if you can survive the fall does it matter where one falls from. Good day freind I am Ekaj"

Kaizer felt the relief that the Jedi had not fallen vanish as the Jedi stood and simply stepped off of the pillar. While he knew that the Force was more than capable of preventing fatal damage from falls, he trusted ropes and good climbing techniques over having to worry about using the Force while freefalling. Regardless, the Jedi obviously survived the fall without much, if any, damage, causing Kaizer to mentally shrug.

When the other Jedi, Ekaj, introduced himself, Kaizer looked directly into the man's eyes and extended his right hand for a handshake. As he did so, assuming the other Jedi was finished speaking, Kaizer introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Ekaj, I'm Kaizer Sutsgy." The Knight couldn't help but think briefly on what Ekaj said before stating his name, if only because it seemed bizarre to the down-to-earth and blunt Kaizer. He couldn't stop his thoughts from instantly becoming words. "Just because you survive doesn't mean it won't hurt. I can fall from 30 feet and shatter my legs. I'd be alive, though it'd definitely suck. Likewise, would you say the same thing about getting shot? If you can survive the shots, does it matter where you get shot? I'd argue it does. Getting shot in the kidneys means you need dialysis for the rest of your life and if you're stuck hooked to a machine a few days a week, you're not doing much good. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and I'd rather not fall or get shot."

Kaizer's inner voice told him he was being rude and that responses like that were why he didn't have many friends, though the Knight couldn't bring himself to apologize. Out on the Rim, logic trumped philosophy and thinkers didn't necessarily make good fighters. Standard education was rare on the Rim and what was there taught survival tips, farming techniques, and other necessary life skills as opposed to how to decide whether or not to fall.

Ekaj took Kaiaer's hand in greeting and then listened to what the man said. He was right of course, getting shot sucked and so was breaking a bone or two. "You are right, though is the force is the greatest prevention. If only we all ways knew what it was trying to prevent we could help or at least not get in the way." Ekaj did not want to mention the vision of the cave he had seen out of embarrassment that a vision had all most made him loose his balance. still would the other Jedi under stand it? "Still i will agree falling from a greater height than that pillar i was on would of hurt. That's why i don't climb higher not till i know i survive the fall. Any case it all ways nice to meet new people"
