Ever since the meeting with the like-minded Jedi about the Sith threat, Nykoria had been restless. She knew that she'd be leaving Ajan Kloss soon. Probably for a long time. And there was so much to arrange! Figure out the immediate plans, find the ships, the people, the supplies... Sure, she had some other Jedi to help her; but Nykoria had to make the first steps herself. Strangely, she found some sort of purpose and twisted joy in the amount of work she had been doing recently.
Amidst all that, there was a problem that Kori had been postponing for as long as she could... Because she wasn't quite sure how to approach it. There was that Jawa Padawan that the Council had assigned to her. Ever dutiful, Nykoria didn't argue. She had been training the boy to the best of her abilities, despite her initial reluctance. That unwelcome assignment even helped the Zeltron develop a taste for teaching.
But for the last couple of weeks, the training sessions had been sparse. Even if the Jawa felt neglected, Nykoria couldn't do much about it. They hadn't been together for long; so the Padawan hadn't grown on her yet. And Kori's the new-found purpose of going after the Sith eclipsed all else. At times, she wondered if she was an appropriate choice to be that kid's master. She feelt a little guilty at how the things had turned out, and about what she was about to do. But on the other hand, she realized that she wouldn't be able to take the kid where she was going to. He barely contended with low-level training remotes, fainted after a simple obstacle course, and had just barely reached his teens!
Kori justified her decision to herself with the "Taking that kid with me would be irresponsible" mantra. Yet not once did she consider abandoning her crusade in favor of training her Padawan and letting someone else pursue the Sith. Deep down, the Zeltron knew of another reason why she wouldn't be taking the young Jawa with her. She hated to admit it to herself, but at times the thought crossed her mind: "He'd just slow you down."
Either way, she needed to deliver the news to the Jawa... Somehow. Maybe find him a new Master as well. That's why she had asked T-3PO, Mnoc's protocol droid and interpreter, to summon the young Jawa to the temple courtyard. Kori didn't tell the droid a reason for the meeting; the Padawan needed to hear it from his Master, that much she was certain about. Upon arrival, she'd greet Mnoc with a simple "Padawan", arms crossed. She didn't know how to start, so she'd first hear if the Padawan had anything to say.
