Tabloid Why the Galaxy Doesn't Need Jedi

Empires rise, empires fall, but what seems to never change is the inability of the Jedi in bringing about such change. Time and time again the Galaxy has cried out for someone to step in and deal with the menace of the Sith. For someone to vanquish the darkness that spread from the heart of the Sith Empire. To oppose evil. To protect those who could not protect themselves. It was once this reporter's opinion that this task was the very reason the Jedi exited, to be the counter to the threat of the Sith. Yet, time has shown how wrong I was in holding that belief.

The Sith seem to be gone, expelled from their own Empire, made a fool of in front of the entire Galaxy. No armies, no fleets, left with nothing but their own wits to rely upon. And as a result Sith oppression has seen a significant dip in the weeks since the reorganization of the Empire. But it is not the Jedi we must thank for this much needed change in the status quo, this change was brought about from within the Empire itself. New leadership, new direction, and a new promise to turn their back on the ways of the Sith. Warmaster Din has given the Galaxy much of what it was asking for, it just so happens that this change has not come from a source they had ever thought to turn to.

And this is no isolated incident of Jedi trying their best to try a vanishing act. On Commenor a joint force of Free World, Republic, and independent forces faced off against a Killik force intent on destroying everything in its path. On Junction the Sith endure a walk of shame that killed much of the mystique that surrounded their order. On Byblos the Republic fights against a seemingly crazed queen hellbent on ruining her own legacy. The Galaxy has seen one bombshell after another in the past month, and through it all, you have to wonder, where are the Jedi? And if we can accomplish so much without them, you must ask yourself a simple question.

Do we need the Jedi?

Newton wouldn't read the article, he would just see the headline. Newton has said it before and he would say it again. The Jedi are relics of an ancient past that have no place in this or any galaxy. The role of the Jedi is played out. And they should go to where they belong -- into the dust bin of history. They can go there with the Sith. Forever.

[Hera "The Joyful" Albion]

Hera wasn't one that often read the news, but when she saw the article shared among some of the Padawans of the order, she gave it a read. As she read, paragraph by paragraph, she could not help but sigh deeper and deeper with the article. Finally, she decided to try and speak her mind. Scrolling down to the comment section of the article, she put in her two cents.

"So what, because we do not conform to some reporter's idea of what we should be, we should be eliminated? How about will you be rid of us? Banish our padawans and younglings to overcrowded orphanages? Have us drop our blades and swear to do nothing when we see injustice? I personally saw to the freeing of slaves and dismantling of a spice operation on Maltha Obex! But you didn't see that, so it doesn't count for this journalist. These are nothing but the utterly unbelievable, pathetic pipe dreams of a disillusioned smear merchant."

At that, she hit 'comment' and smiled quietly to herself for about ten minutes. Until the comment was deleted.
