DESCRIPTION​

While the bowcaster is perhaps the most well known arm produced by the Kashyyyk native population of Wookiees, there are other weapons that the large tree dwelling folk use to defend themselves and their homeworld. The Wookiee Side-Arm, or wookiee blaster pistol, is a unique weapon in its design that was mass produced during the height of the clone wars by varying clan workshops across Kashyyyk. Today the weapons are still seldom seen by anyone outside of the hunting parties of Wookiees who go into the dangerous parts of their homeworld or embark on important work outside of the system. The Galactic Empire confescated and destroyed many weapons during their occupation of the wookiee homeworld and disarmed as much of the wookiee poluation. Furthermore, due to the Trandoshan's alliance with the Empire at the time, many remaining products like the Wookiee Side-Arm are now sitting in trophy rooms of hunters or in the collection of black marketeers. As such, like bowcasters, these weapons are scruitinzed when in possession by anyone other than a wookiee.

With rare cases of these weapons being found on the black market, they are still blaster pistols and can be licensed to be used on civilized worlds. In fact, the Wookiee Side-Arm is a fairly safe weapon to operate aside from running the risk of getting questioned by a wookiee and risking your limbs in the process. The pistol is large compared to other weapons of its class at 54 centimeters long but still serviceable for larger beings like their creators. The grip of the weapon is often made from worshyr wood and wrapped in treated leather though other custom handles are known to be used in comissions. The butt of the Side-Arm allows to to even be shouldered by a wookiee which improves its already notable accuracy. The heft of the 4 kilogram blaster pistol is akin to that of its cousins and is made mostly of durable bronzium. This incorporates a blast suppressor into the pistol making the origin of firing harder to pinpoint in the darker levels of Kashyyyk or wherever the weapon is used. This alone makes it appreciative for the more nefarious beings in the galaxy.

A rear trigger engages the power to feed into foreward mechanism. Two side mounted tibanna gas cartridges allow the blaster pistol fire green bolts from its emitter. While this helped in the power output and ammunition capacity of the Wookiee Side-Arm, it forces prolonged reloading as each power pack only loads twenty heavy bolts into the pistol. Additionaly, without the rear trigger pulled, the forward trigger will not be able to be pulled back successfully and will remain locked in place. This requires two hands to fire effictively which can help most beings that lack the bulk of a Wookiee to fire the tremendous recoil of the blaster pistol. But others may choose the unsafe jury rigging option if the shooter wishes to fire only one handed since the weapon lacks a trigger guard for either trigger. Alternatively, the wielder must have very long fingers and the grip strength of a wookiee or risk the weapon flying out of their hands.

LEGALITY​

Like bowcasters, the Wookiee Side-Arm is classed as ceremonial weapons by many governments, and their ownership was often legal- uncommon for heavy blaster pistols- athough open carry on civilized worlds was often restricted. However, Wookiees hold the weapons in almost sacred regard, and non-Wookiee owners are likely to be interrogated as to how they acquired the weapon if spotted by a Wookiee Warrior- those with unsatisfactory answers are liable to have their arms pulled out of their sockets.

INTENT​

To expand on the wookiee culture and relation with techonology. More threads will take place on Kashyyyk in the future and this will bring a unique and peculiar blaster design from legends to the site.

RESTRICTIONS​

Due to the nature of the weapon's design, the Wookiee Side-Arm cannot be be modified in anyway.
