Xaa Hafven No More
Three years ago the Zaa Fenn enforcer of that time defected to the Xaa Hafven and burned a considerable number of rackets in the process. Marissa's predecessor, the old Cathar Shere Zaa Fenn, always wanted to take his revenge. What better way to assert some dominance than to find that traitorous Shistavanen on Ryloth and blast him.
Participants: @Lydeck and @Eccles

The rodian looked deep into the Twi'lek's eyes as if the intense stare would suddenly motivate her to tell him what he wanted her to say, but she seemed utterly unimpressed. "I said no," her determination hurt Preef, but he managed enough restraint not to go for his blaster with all those guards looking about. The Xaa Hafven Crime Family owned some rackets on Ryloth and the trade of highly flexible Twi'lek girls was without a doubt the most profitable. Preef figured this established, The Horny Lekku, was a front for that illegal trade. Unfortunately for him he wasn't very good at the whole convincing part of the job, "Larr said no private dances." She shook her beautiful head and rolled her eyes. As if she'd do the dance with a rodian! Not before the Battle of Ryloth, not after it and not even after the Five Syndicates enslaved them all to work in the mines. Rodians grossed her out.

Preef sighed and sank bank into the booth he shared with his Bothan companion. "She's playing hard to get," he assured the scoundrel. Still, the rodian looked a bit sullen as he returned himself to his drink. This was the third dancer that mentioned him, Larr Loft, the Shistavanen enforcer they were there to kill. Apparently he was close enough for them to be scared of repercussions, but not for the Zaa Fenn pair to actually catch a glimpse. "Maybe the next one, hm?"

The Horny Lekku. It had a catchy name, but underneath the establishments clever innuendo it held the same shady activity which attracted people from all walks of life. Lust and attraction were common stance across a variety of species. Despite the physical differences which separated them into categories of race they all had a shared interest in the more questionable dealings which occurred within these walls, or similar. In his youth Husk thoroughly enjoyed frequenting these sorts of places, not just for the x rated entertainment but also the information which flowed from loose lips. Prying information was much easier with the assistance of alcohol and narcotics than interrogation and torture. But in his older age he had grown a distaste for the noise and sudden flash of bright lights. And the smell. As a Bothan his sense of smell and taste were greatly heightened and the stench of pheromones mixed with liquor, death sticks and male 'heat' was enough to make his stomach retch. On any other occasion he'd avoid entering the velvet curtain. The only reason he made an exception was business, and a matter of personal pride.

An old acquaintance, or more so a previous member of the Zaa Fenn Family, defected to the Xaa Hafven a few years back after burning valuable commodities on his departure. It was an act that left a sour taste in the leaders jaw matched only by the betrayal felt by Husk. Each scoundrel had their own personal code, a compass that generally steered them in life and kept them to some modicum of morality no matter how twisted it appeared. Husks was loyalty and in contrast he disliked betrayal, so much so that when volunteers were requested for the hunt of that traitorous Shistavanen the usually quiet Bothan voiced his immediate interest. The elderly Husk looked at Preef as he 'worked his magic' on the third dancer of the night with each one rejecting his mistaken advances. Little did they know he was fishing for information. The hairy Zaa Fenn snickered, sipping on the ale with a thick head. This was his first assignment with the newest members of the Family since their passive takeover. While many of the members were hesitant to their leadership, Husk was indifferent. He swore his service to the Head of the Family. Consequently that title had changed, but his allegiance did not "At least he hasn't seen us. Keep up the smooth talk, my courting days are far past me. I'd sooner bore them than flatter."

What did he mean... oh! Preef kept forgetting why they had come to the Horny Lekku. Nodding slowly, he took another sip from his imported sewer-riped Hutta shine and let his eyes fall on the older Bothan. He was a Zaa Fenn by merit.. didn't have to pay in with a small fortune and lived longer than most scoundrels did in their line of work. Hm! Without Marissa Preef would probably never have survived to become an enforcer or knew where to spend his credits. "Don't say that, Husk-" he grinned and nodded towards a Cathar dancer that was just then entering the room from backstage. "-she looks perfect for you." So the rodian was a specist, so what? Everyone always treated him like shit for being a rodian, so who cares if he purposefully linked one furry species to another. That's how the galaxy worked, didn't it? Who knows, maybe Husk gets to be a father before his untimely death.

Meanwhile the Twi'lek that had just refused Preef's advances approached a brawny male Twi'lek sitting at the bar. "That Rodian over there," she pointed at Preef from underneath her shoulder to try and keep it lowkey, "doesn't matter how many times we tell him Larr doesn't allow private dances. He keeps asking for them anyway." The brawny one's eyebrows rose and his strong neck slowly turned so he could look at the troublesome Rodian, "Someone doesn't know who Larr is, hm?" He fully swiveled on his barstool to get a better view of the rodian and his companion. "Leave it to me, hun."

The furry anthropoid slowly sipped his spiran cafe, his clawed digits gently clutching the cup. He was surprised the beverage was served in such an establishment making its consumption all the better. His gaze met Preefs and an indifferent click escaped his maw. His thick Bothese accent cut through the Galactic Basic, though his speech was understandable "Maybe, if I were a cub. Those appetites left me long ago" he slowly drank his refreshment, his legs humorously dangling from the seat in which he sat. The Bothan stood a few heads shorter than his Rodian companion and fully armored he almost resembled a child playing pretend. Except his 'pretend' gun could blast a hole in an unsuspecting forehead. He kept his weapon close and instinctively brushed its hand over his coat, the blasters weight almost comforting.

"Nature calls-" the Bothan slid away from the table, dusting himself off from whatever filth stuck to the upholstery "-don't start without me." His weathered body paced towards the refresher room, his pace steady.

Husk's path was barred after barely ten steps by the burly Twi'lek, "Old dog," his broad shoulders almost blocking the entire club from the Bothan's view, "You should convince your buddy to leave." Subtlety didn't exist in the way the Twi'lek moved and casually showed the stun rod underneath his belt. The message was clear: Leave now or get the beating of a lifetime. Unbeknownst to Husk, for he couldn't see passed the Twi'lek's broad shoulders, three more burly pair of Lekku's stepped closer to the Bothan.

Preef watched it happening, but instead of getting up and having the bothan's back he sat back and looked on. Four brawlers to toss out an old Bothan and an unassuming rodian? Bit of an overkill under normal circumstances.. perhaps that meant Larr really was on the premises. The rodian enforcer was more interested to see what the Bothan could do before he showed them the the blasting end of his infamous pistol, though. Husk was known as an intelligence specialist, skilled in sniffing out targets if you don't mind the pun, but one didn't get to be his age in the criminal underworld without knowing how to beat up some wannabe tough guys.

Time to add fuel to the fire, "Oi, Husk!" Preef called out, making sure all four Twi'leks could hear it as well, "Maybe that male dancer can re-ignite your appetites!"

Compared to the middle aged Bothan, the Twilek towered over him, almost imposing. Slightly hunched over, which made his figure all the less threatening, Husk tilted his head up so his eyes now met the thugs. He spoke almost perfect Ryl, the product of having served with many Twilek in his life of crime. His repertoire was somewhat disrespectful though "Zala him tun self, Seela" he attempted to move around the pastel colored alien only to be confronted with the three approaching behind him, causing the elder to take a step back. Husk was all too familiar on what was going on, and the lack of subtlety confirmed his suspicion. He and Preef had drawn attention to themselves and they were advised to leave. Four against one was never favorable odds and his forte leaned more towards deception and intelligence. It was a Bothan stereotype he carried out well. That said he knew his way around a blaster, and his skills with a knife were enough to keep him alive.

Preffs prompt insult only fed the groups distaste for the duo and suffice to say any charismatic attempt to talk their way out was out the window. He cursed under his breath. If he had it his way he'd have scoped the area out and gathered intelligence that favored his position. But Preff held a higher place in the Family and Husk was loyal. He'd never question the authority of the Families head. Now he found himself in front of a towering figure and a shock stick with his name on it least he cooperate. But there was a problem. They'd been sent to dispatch the traitor who left the Zaa Fenn a few years ago. That Husk could not abide.

As he stepped back he pulled his A-180 blaster pistol from his holster, leveling its durasteel barrel with the lead Twileks melee weapon and unleashing a single shot at its power pack [Rolled accuracy - 93/100].

The speed in which the Bothan drew his blaster both surprised and impressed Preef and he immediately drew his own DG-29 Heavy Blaster Pistol. By the time the shock stick under the Twi'lek's belt overloaded due to getting hit with a bolt, shocking the Twi'lek in all the areas he really didn't want to be shocked, Preef pressed the trigger of his own blaster and shot a second Twi'lek right in the chest. Unlike the Bothan, Preef cared little about keeping them alive and he almost never switched his weapon to stun. The Twi'lek was dead before he hit the floor.

The shock that resulted from the sudden escalation to lethal force allowed Preef to jump on the table and grasp everyone's attention. "Right!" he said loud enough for everyone to hear, prompting a sudden stop of music and several cries of distress. "Nobody move," he watched the dancers in particular, three of them seemingly nervous about the fact they had just rejected the homicidal rodian. Despite the fact it was just a single table-standing rodian and an elderly Bothan, everyone in the Horny Lekku obeyed Preef's simply command, which in turn made Preef perhaps a bit too overconfident.. "We're here for Larr Loft," the recognition of the name was written on the faces of almost everyone, regulars included. "No one else needs to die tonight."

Now came the actually difficult part of the duo... because Preef had no idea what Larr actually looked like aside from him being a Shivastenen. That was kinda the whole reason Husk was accompanying him. Well, if he had known beforehand how fast the Bothan still was on the draw he'd have brought him along anyway. If there was one thing Preef admired it was skill with the blaster.

The Bothans shot hit its mark, and true to form the battery pack in the shock stick malfunctioned, causing it to deliver an electrifying surge of energy that incapacitated the lead Twilek. But what surprised Husk more was the quick follow up of blaster fire from behind him, causing the elder to spin on his heel and point his barrel towards the place of origin instinctively. The smoke from Preefs gun oozed from its heated emitter and the hole in the second aliens chest matched the effect before dropping lifelessly to the ground. Husk snuffed, lowering his weapon but still keeping it in his grasp as he turned his attention back towards the surrounding locals and thugs. He could see why the Rodian held such a reputation within the Syndicate. His skill with a blaster was matched only with his tenacity in a gun fight.

With Preefs declaration the Bothan was able to determine that the person he demanded was at least known to those within the duracrete walls, and those that attempted to conceal the fact earlier were betrayed by the looks on their faces. Husk raised his weapon once again, this time towards the third Twilek who now seemed less aggressive as his gaze fixed on the lifeless corpse of his comrade. In his weary voice accompanied with his broken galactic basic, the Bothan followed his companions line of inquiry "As you can see, my partner is less forgiving than I. And its obvious he is just plain crazy. So we will ask again. Where is that dirty piece of bantha poodoo Larr. We will not ask again." Unlike Preef, Husk did not only know what he looked like, he had worked with him on various assignments when he was aligned with the Zaa Fenn Family before his betrayal. It was a face so ingrained into his memory that nothing short of a full cosmetic surgery would fool the old Bothan.

One of the Twi'lek girls, the one that looked older and more weathered than the others suddenly stepped forward and uttered a loud scoffing cry. "You want to know where that filthy dog is?" few of the other girls turned to her and shook their heads as if to caution her against betraying the Shistavanen in fear of what he might do to her. The older dancer saw this and let out a cruel laugh, "Hah! There've been enforcers before that dog," she involuntarily glanced at Husk, "and there'll be enforcers after him." She was right, so was the way of the Five Syndicates. Enforcers were bullies and lived by their skills in applying violence and spreading fear. Preef immediately recognized the meaning in her words. That he was here on Ryloth today while Marissa sat in the penthouse on Eriadu was a good example, for to take out an enforcer you either needed a scoundrel ambitious enough to take his place or another enforcer. If you brought brains to a fight all they could do was get splattered across a wall.

The lives and fates of the dancers in the Horny Lekku wouldn't change, regardless of who died today. The next one would abuse, mistreat and exploit them just as much as Larr was doing. It seemed the older dancer was the only one who had fully come to terms with this and her sharp remark muted the others. "He's not here. He's prepping a transport of girls for Nar Shaddaa over at-" she snapped her fingers at the third guard who seemed confused at first but Husk's blaster in his face didn't really give him many options; "Hangar three."

Preef smiled with satisfaction, "Good!" he waved his blaster around and then put it back in its holster with a showy swirl before jumping down. "Husk, we're off to hangar three."

A collective sigh of relief went over the Horny Lekku's clients and employees alike, but when Preef suddenly turned towards the older dancer they all held their breath in anxious anticipation. "Let it be known that no one betrays the Zaa Fenn or they'll deal with me, Preef Callo-" the name found little to no recognition among the crowd and honestly that kinda hurt the Rodian, "Oh, and be sure to pick up those girls later. They're not going to Nar Shaddaa." Preef had worked for the Hutts as a minor and knew what they put young Twi'lek girls through. He might be indifferent over killing people, but even he had his limits or code, if you will.

The word 'dog' caused his snout to twist sourly, a common insult flung towards his people by the ignorant. It was generally a nickname he endured as a cub and had gotten himself into many a fight as a result. But that sensation was soon replaced with disappointment as the more mature dancer revealed the traitors location, seemingly not here in the bar. Husk clicked his tongue, he knew it wasn't going to be as easy as entering the Lekku guns drawn with a quick conclusion. No. That slimy enforcer was far too cunning for that. He kept his blaster trained one of the remaining guards who soon exposed the necessary details for their pursuit, prompted only by his exotic colleague and a warm emitter pointed at his face. "Looks like we're going to hangar three then."

Before he followed Preef out the door his dark eyes scanned the area. Despite his questionable occupation he too disliked the trade of flesh, especially when it was against their will or a last resort to make ends meat. And he had infiltrated the Hutt Cartel and its sub groups enough times to know what kind of initiation the young girls (and boys) endured to make the final cut. It was almost enough to make his stomach wretch. He produced a com frequency code from his jacket, sliding it to the dancers with his eyes still murderously trained on the guard "If ever you feel the need for a change of ownership-" he filled his lungs deep with stale air, its taste mixed with sweat and smoke from blaster fire "-call this comm." He left the details unexplained. The last thing he wanted to do was overstep his authority, especially if it was under the Zaa Fenns banner and with the presence of someone that outranked him.

He lowered his blaster, returning it to his holster then turning around, making his way towards the Rodian. There was a tone of unease in his voice, something akin to mild anger Preef. No one appreciates what you and your crew have done for the Zaa Fenn than I. I've been apart of this Family for decades, and to see it uplifted is a joy I cannot explain. Do not take my request as an overstep of authority, I respect the chain of command. But- he looked deep into the aliens eyes "Let me kill that bastard when we find him. I dislike loose ends and he is one giant one. I see no reason why our new Family head should have to clean up an old mess."

For a second Preef appeared to ignore the Bothan's request, choosing to exit the Horny Lekku first and start their walk down to the spacestation. It was a short walk with a steep descent that provided a beautiful view of the Ryloth countryside. Well, it had been before that Star Destroyer crashed into the surface of the planet and the many small scavenger pods and scrap-freighters surrounding it ruined the view. Eventually the Rodian smiled and turned his head towards Husk, "Overstepping authority and chain of command?" Preef asked rhetorically, making clear in the way he said it that he found the sentiment to be overzealous and quite out of place. "Never fear your input is unwelcome," he continued with a careless wave of his hand. Marissa and he had always worked in an equal partnership of sorts despite the success always depending most definitely on her smarts and contacts. "Especially yours, Husk Kra'Zaa Fenn. The Bothan had an impressive career in organized crime and his language skills and intelligence experience and talent made him more valuable to a Crime Family than a rodian with a blaster.

They were closing in on the spaceport's entrance and Preef still hadn't granted Husk's request, but as they reached the departure hall and approached hangar three, Preef finally said what the older Bothan wanted to hear. "I'll get you all the time you need," no doubt Larr wouldn't be alone, after all "just make sure he's dead when you're done."

The two walked towards the Spaceport through Ryloths impressive scenery. Despite the fact it had endured scattering of debris, some as large as destroyers, it still held some modicum of natural delight as nature went about its routine undisturbed by modernization. The Rodian Enforcer, Husks new superior within the ranks of the Zaa Fenn Family, remained silent after the Bothan requests. This made the elder nervous. He hadn't worked with Preef long enough to fully understand his ethics or demeanor but his reputation indicated his tenacity and aptitude in death. It was uncharacteristic for Husk to request such a thing, especially from one who held a higher rank. He had made his own reputation of being a loyalist, carrying his orders out to the letter despite his moral compass.

A small sigh of relief escaped him as his fellow family member accepted his request, his head dropping "You have my regards. Thank you for indulging this old fool in his reclamation of honor-" his dark gaze met the Rodians ebony orbs, his tone of voice dropping to a more serious note as he unclipped the helmet hanging from his waist. He slid the headpiece over his muzzle, the crimson plating marked and scratched with years of wear. His voice was augmented through the audio output, giving his speech a slight fizzle among the broken Galactic Basic "I will not let the Family down."

In preparation for the coming conflict he checked the several module attachments which complimented his firearm. As of now the a-130 blaster was in its default phase, a hand blaster, but was capable of having several 'transformations' through the equipment of certified modules. He was ready for what was to come.

The doors to hangar three slid open to a medium-sized freighter on one side and a group of young beautiful Twi'lek girls chained together on the other side. Close to the girls three humans leaned against some crates, laughing at each other as they in turn pointed towards one of the girls and describing what they'd do to her on the week-long trip to Nar Shaddaa.

Closer to the middle a Shistavanen turned towards the door. He carried a blaster pistol in a holster across his chest and was flanked by two Twi'lek men whose hands immediately went towards their own blasters until they seemed comforted that they recognized the newcomers as neither Jedi nor Sector Rangers. The planet had been crawling with them after the battle and it had most of the criminals a bit on edge.

"Who are you!?" the Shistavanen growled, clearly not a fan of interruptions during the illegal trafficking of young girls.. but then who would be? It took a second longer but then he started laughing, "Hahaha! Is that you, old Husk!?" Someone clearly hadn't heard about the recent developments within the Zaa Fenn and Larr immediately motioned for his Twi'lek guards to relax. "That's Husk Kra'Zaa Fenn, haha-" he slapped himself on the knee, barely recovering from what he thought was the final nail in old Shere Zaa Fenn's coffin. "-hah! Come to join me in the Xaa Hafven eh? Old Shere used up his ninth life?" it was only then that he noticed the rodian and not recognizing Preef he paused barked sharply to get the attention of the three humans. "You're not Zaa Fenn," Larr said, his eyes narrowing as Preef took this as the moment to start slowly walking towards the Shistavanen.

"Actually," Preef smiled and kept his right hand still beside his holster as he stepped closer and closer. "I know him! That's Preef Callo-" one of the humans interrupted the Rodian, "-I did a few jobs for the Pykes and they told me what he did on Kessel." one of the other humans suddenly remembered as well and his eyes immediately towards Preef's blaster, "They claim you're the fastest shot in the Outer Rim."

All of this fed into Larr's paranoia and only now did he consider that Husk, who he regarded as far below him in skill and status, was wearing his armor not because an old Bothan like him needed to compensate not having 'the edge' with a lot of blaster-stopping plate. "Why are you here, Husk?"

The blast doors opened, revealing the contents of the hangar. Three Humans and their Twilek retinue clustered to one side of the bay, the vulgar exchange of testosterone fueled desires echoing off its artificial walls. On the opposite side rested their escape vessel. And in the center of the unfolding events rested the Shistavanen, Larr, a "brother" who betrayed the Family and left them in a compromising position when he pilfered valuable goods. Husk assumed the goods were a barter in order to curry favor with the Xaa-Hafven. As soon as his eyes met a low snarl grumbled under his snout, low enough for Preef to hear but doubtingly anyone else. It surprised the Bothan somewhat. He'd never been one for outright aggression, especially in his old age. But there was something about close betrayal which stoked the fire within him.

And then he spoke. It had been near a few years off a decade since his defection but his voice was the same, albeit spoiled by the Xaa-Hafven. The grumbled tone of Larrs jawed muzzle struggled more than most to pronounce his words, his Galactic Basic thick with accent but understandable none the less. At first the Shistavanen laughed, slapping his knee and insinuating the Bothan had followed the path he did years ago. The dishonor was enough to make Husk reach for his blaster, but saner minds prevailed. As soon as he reached for his hand piece he stopped as he knew all to well the success of making a shot that distance. No doubt Preef could accurately blast a shot straight between his eyes, Husk was aged and his eyesight was not as sharp as it once was.

Then Larr spoke their bosses name, the now ex-head of the Zaa Fenn. Honor forbade Husk to ask his Rodian comrade to take the shot. And honor drew his blaster from its holster in the blink of an eye. No sooner did the name 'Shere' leave his lips that an emerald bolt shot from the Bothans barrel, the energy projectile screaming past Preef as he advanced towards the Humans.

[Accuracy Roll - 37 - 26-50: Barely a success]: One of the Twilek that flanked Larr staggered back as the bolt hit his right shoulder, the shot intended for the Shistavanens head missing only by a hand span. Husk snickered knowing that his anger was responsible for the miss. In an attempt to harness the small window of the preemptive strike he pulled the trigger again.

Accuracy Roll - 5 - 2-10: Major fail, fail with more serious consequence]: The shot went wide, missing either target by a decent margin. "You don't deserve a quick death."

Before Larr Loft had been able to focus on Preef and before the humans had recognized the rodian the old Bothan jumped the gun. Needless to say that from everyone in the hangar bay it was Preef who reacted the fastest after seeing the emerald bolt flying towards one of the Twi'leks.

[Accuracy Roll = 58] Pressing his own trigger just as that first bolt hit the Twi'lek, Preef fired at the other pair of Lekku's and hit Larr's second bodyguard in the chest. The Shistavanen now stood alone in the middle of the hangar bay [Will Save = 8], startled by the sudden loss of both his bodyguards and trying to fathom that the old bothan had the balls to go after him in the first place. Larr barked "Get them!" at the humans and then instead of drawing his own blaster he used the window provided by Husk's terribly aimed shot to dash for the spaceship.

[Opposition Roll = 33] The three humans grabbed their blasters and took aim with the intent to suppress the attackers. Their shots went wide, but the sudden barrage of badly aimed bolts did stop Preef's advance and forced him into cover behind a nearby crate. Fortunately for Husk all three humans seemed to focus their fire on the rodian, giving the Bothan opportunity to chase after the Shistavanen.

Preef lived up to his growing reputation. Twice now the Rodian executed precision shots following the Bothans prompt, and each shot met its mark with deadly accuracy. Husk watched his traitorous ex comrade flee for his ship, no doubt hoping for a swift escape at the behest of his underlings. Typical. A coward through and through. The silver lining was that his Human entourage was focused on the Zaa Fenns enforcer.

[Action Roll = 76 - Module Switch Speed:] Husks gloved claw reached for a holster on his back, grabbing the various modules necessary to enable the ion launcher function on his A-180. This weapon has been by his side, in one form or an another, for decades and is one of the last remnants of his ties to his Bothan clan. He knew the weapon in its entirety and any small flaws were compensated for accordingly. Changing components and modules on the fly was a motion he'd completed countless times and its speed could very well determine failure or success. Calming himself he passed through the actions, sliding the main barrel enhancement and ion emitter into place, then clipping in the shoulder stock. The transition had only taken seconds and Larr barely made it to the ramp of his ship.

[Accuracy Roll = 81 - Ion launcher shot:] The aged Bothan prepared the stock against his shoulder, raising the gun and its barrel parallel to his line of sight. He dropped to one knee, his joints creaking and his eye winching at the sudden rush of discomfort. In his low position he took aim of Larrs ship, pointing the emitter towards the Freighter and pulling the trigger. His body was perfectly positioned to absorb the recoil as the illuminated blue bolt of ion shot forth. He had to be sure his accuracy was spot on as the energy pack only accounted for a single shot.

[Attack roll = 46] While Husk switched his blaster into an Ion rifle, Preef rolled out from cover and dashed forward, shooting the first human in the mouth and the second in the chest. The rodian wasn't called the Fastest Shot in the Outer Rim for no reason and for a moment there he felt invincible! He was on the move and blasting enemies as if he came straight out of those over-the-top HoloNet movies where the gunslingers were unbeatable, couldn't miss and had so much plot armor that...

[Injury severity roll = 61] The bolt dissipated on his left shoulder without him even registering that the third human had managed to take a shot at him. The intense burn of his skin, nerves and muscles burning to the bone, pared with the blow from impact and Preef wasn't just halted in his advance but fell on his back with an ugly thud. For a moment all Preef could think about was dying, cursing himself for his overconfidence and believing in his own hype.

Meanwhile Larr's ship went dark and the Shistavanen didn't even manage to unlock the outer door without the physical override key that he forgot inside. "Damn them!" he cursed as he grabbed his blaster pistol from his torso-holster and turned around. "Husk!" he growled, "I'm going to send Shere your head!"

The human thought he had killed Preef Callo and while he had been interrupted for sharing the fact that he had recognized the rodian, the mere fact that he had just shot and presumably killed the best gunslinger of the Outer Rim had him in such a state he clearly wasn't thinking right. "I killed him!" he cried of joy, "I killed Preef Callo!" and he turned towards Husk Kra'Zaa Fenn without ever thinking about confirming his kill. Preef was done, that much was true, but the rodian wasn't dead yet and his right arm and blaster were pointing in a convenient direction already. Mustering all the strength he had in his quickly weakening body, Preef raised his blaster pistol towards the last human. "Kriff off"

The bolt hit the human in the side of the heat and almost took his head head off before he ragdolled to the floor, leaving Larr to deal with Husk alone... just like there was no one to help Husk. Preef desperately needed some bacta spray, so that kriffing Bothan better make it quick.

The ship went dark and from behind his helmet Husk gasped a sigh of relief. He lowered his arms and the weapon, offering his arms relief from its weighted conversion while twisting the emitter from the end of the barrel. With a flick of his furred wrist he dismissed the dispensed power pack from his blaster, readying it for another round. Preefs exchange hadn't gone unnoticed as two bodies hit the ground. The declaration that his Rodian compatriot had been bested sent a chill down his spine, and he felt regret that his revenge had probably cost a comrade their life. He turned to dispatch of the third Human but once again, even when seemingly dead, Preef managed a dead shot, felling the remaining and relieving Husk of his anxiety. This left only two to settle the quarry.

Larr had a questionable reputation of ethics and loyalty. But he also earned his rank through merit, questionable it may be. And he was still reasonably within his prime. Husk was getting on in age, pushing Sixty and well past his physical prime. Bothans, who varied in appearance based on a spectrum of genetics, were generally physically inferior to their more 'feral' cousins, the Shistavanen. Husk was older, weaker, slower and possessed a weaker pool of stamina. He was also smaller. An obvious one sided fight. The Zaa Fenn would need to employ his advantages. Larr finally approached with blaster in hand followed by a death threat, one Husk knew he'd execute. The Bothan slid the last of the modules off his weapon, returning it to its default setting. With his off hand he reached for a holster on his chest, hidden by the draping of his cape. His hand tightly grasped the hilt and pulled its contents from its sheath exposing a swiftly vibrating blade that sung a dual toned hum, its melody whispering in the hangar.

Husk replied to Larrs threat, his voice slightly distorted by his helmets audio output "Oh, Shere will be getting a head. But it wont be mine"

The Shistavanen took position roughly twenty paces away from Husk. He didn't bother to look at the dead or the dying, ignoring Preef's soft moans as the rodian tried to get himself together. "A duel, then-" Larr grinned, feeling confident because of the age difference, Husk's lacking reputation with a blaster and the known gunslinger out of commission. He was sure he'd be getting out of this by the skin of his teeth, but he was getting out of here.

[Larr's Duel of the Fates roll = 13] The Shistavanen raised his blaster, but with an overconfidence and eagerness that completely ruined his focus and he shot way too early, scorching the durasteel floor two feet in front of Husk. "Gah!" he barked in an anxious rage and overcompensated with his next shot flying a full feet over the Bothan's head. Whatever the Shistavanen had, he had not only ruined it, but also shattered his own confidence and left himself open to be utterly humiliated by the old Bothan.

Meanwhile, Preef had holstered his blaster and pulled himself up with his right. He was barely on his feet when the Shistavanen started shooting and was in the perfect position to observe Husk's reaction.

Reaction Roll - Greater than Larrs duel roll [14] - Whether due to slow reactions, overwhelming circumstances or just plain bad luck, both of Larrs shots missed their mark. This gave the older Bothan, and former comrade, enough time to assess his situation as he tightened his grip on handle and hilt, his two weapons comfortably grasped. The ambience definitely seemed different than a few moments ago. Before there was overconfidence in numbers, now the stale taste of fear and doubt filled the air. Husk approached the former Zaa Fenn enforcer, raising his right arm and gun, the barrel pointing towards his chest.

[Accuracy Roll [22] - His furry and clawed index finger squeezed the trigger, the bolt igniting and spewing from the surrounded barrel. The recoil caught the older man off guard and his elbow bent more than intended, consequently rearranging his aim. The shot intended for Larrs chest flew wide, glancing towards the edge of his shoulder. Before the Bothan saw the results of his attack he sprinted towards the Shistavanen, dropping his body low and keeping mind of potential barricades should a barrage of bolts head his way.. His knees and back ached but adrenaline kept his momentum forward.
