DESCRIPTION​

The YP2Z-85 Novaspark is a prototype starfighter developed by ace pilot Helen Holcomb. Although a more refined version is intended for later mass production by Helen's fledgling Kessel-based aerospace corporation, Holcomb Garages Limited, this early version was created by gutting Helen's old YP2Z Starspark and rebuilding it from the frame up, incorporating off-the-shelf components from the T-70 X-Wing starfighter, or close equivalents.

The Novaspark is a capable design, its new engines giving it a top speed of 110 MGLT, along with a class 1 hyperdrive for improved interstellar performance. Although the production Novaspark is intended to retain the single central heavy cannon fitted to the old machine, Helen has mounted the four medium laser cannons from the X-Wing in the wing roots of her craft, recessed for better aerodynamics. The nose incorporates a warhead launcher with an 8-projectile rotary magazine. The nose also houses the ship's pop-out anti-personnel repeating blaster, which can be used to defend the ship when grounded.

Notably, the prototype Novaspark incorporates an astromech droid. The droid rides in the cockpit along with the pilot, with a socket located in a recess behind the ejection seat. Helen is not enamored with this feature, and plans to incorporate a standard navicomputer in later models.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. The YP2Z-85 Novaspark is a starfighter, and is subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT​

To create a more capable starfighter for my character. The specifications are based on the T-70 X-Wing.
