The YT-1000 light freighter is a versatile but archaic transport ship designed and manufactured by the venerable Corellian Engineering Corporation in the decades prior to the Clone Wars. One of the progenitor models of CEC's YT series, the YT-1000 is commonly considered to be the first CEC product to bear what would become the company's trademark shape, with a saucer-shaped fuselage, forward mandibles and a pod-mounted cockpit. These design cues would go on to inspire the design of the iconic YT-1300, one of the best-selling light freighters of all time.
The YT-1000 was well specced in its day, but is considered inferior to most other vessels of its class in the present. The type has a crew of 2, with 4 passengers and consumables for up to 2 months in space. Cargo capacity is 75 tons. The ship's sublight drive can push 45 MGLT, with a class 3 hyperdrive. Armament consists of a pair of dual medium laser turrets, with a medium deflector shield for defense.
YT-1000s are vanishingly rare in the present day, the design being well over 200 years old. They are simple and durable enough that some still can be found in service, and these are highly sought after by collectors. It is still possible to get a good deal on one, however, especially from scrap yards; like most YT-series designs, the type is highly modular and easy to repair or modify.
Legal. Light freighters such as the YT-1000 are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.
