Zane Garrick​

It wasn't easy stowing away in a transport bound for a place called The Demon Moon, but Zane had managed it. He'd slipped into a supply container when the loading droids weren't looking and now all he had to do was wait. He focuses on keeping his connection to the force as close to him as possible, the last thing he needed was to be caught by the Jedi running this mission.

A wry grin tore across his face like a lightsaber snapping to life. He leaned back in his little hidey-hole and relished his victory. He'd be the envy of every padawan he knew. To think he'd stumbled across the mention of the forge by chance when on cleaning duty in the library. Zane pulled out his datapad and reread the entry on The Forge of Dxun.

Zane wasn't the most studious Padawan, but when he came across something he was interested in Zane consumed anything and everything he could find on the topic. The Forge had been his obsession for weeks, a spark ignited by the continued turmoil in the galaxy, specifically his homeworld, Denon. Zane shifted uncomfortably in the cramped cargo container as memories of home wormed their way into his heart.

Try as he might to forget them, Zane missed his family. He'd been six when the Jedi had found him and brought him to Yavin IV, and even though he'd never admit it, he resented them for it.

Zane was an outsider among his peers and known for being a trouble maker in lectures and group classes. He wanted to fit in, but he was conflicted... Zane pushed the indecision from his mind and redoubled his focus on the task at hand. What he needed was a weapon. With a lightsaber of his own, he could join the fight and finally feel like he was part of something... well, hopefully.

B A C K S T O R Y

124 ABY ⇀ Zane was born on Denon. His mother was a seamstress and his father took off before he was born. Zane, like most children, didn't understand hard times, that is until he was taken from his mother.

130ABY ⇀ Zane is taken in by the Jedi at his mother's request. His connection to the force is evident and his tutelage on Yavin IV begins.

135 ABY ⇀ Takes interest in droids and in his spare time helps maintenance the various droids on the temple grounds.

142 ABY ⇀ Frustrated and dismayed by the lack of progress he's made and the attack on Denon, Zane is spurred into action when he learns of a way to build his own lightsaber. Seeing this as the quickest route to completing his training the young Padawan stowaway on a ship destined for The Demon Moon.

A P P E A R A N C E & P S Y C H O L O G Y

Ocean eyes, an impish grin, and the typical flippant attitude found in restless youth, Zane Garrick is a Jedi Padawan itching to prove his worth. Zane leans into the rebellious nature of his age in order to mask the insecurity he constantly feels. In group sessions and lecture halls he's the class clown, more likely to be sent out or punished than to excel. With this, he's managed to ostracize himself from most of his peers. Overall, he's an amiable guy who accepts those he meets where they are following the mantra: Judge those for what they sought to be, not what the galaxy made them.

To the surprise of most, Zane is surprisingly knowledgeable of the order and it's history. Because he doesn't tend to socialize, Garrick spends most of his free time in study pouring over the exploits of former Jedi like Skywalkers. When he's not absorbed with an Epic stemming from the clone wars, the padawan enjoys tinkering with and maintaining droids. Over the past decade with the order, he's become adept at diagnosing and repairing all types of droids from protocol to astromech.

As a Padawan, Zane follows the same basic regimen laid out for each learner. His diet isn't strict, but it's curated toward a healthy life, and since he's not old enough to drink he's yet to dabble in the realm of vice. Zane's lean and has decent muscle tone, but he's not an extraordinary specimen by any means. Physical acuity aside, Garrick was blessed with handsome, almost beautiful characteristics. His half-breed heritage lends to his lean frame and long limbs, as well as his high cheekbones and pointed helix, but his baby blues and pouty lips come directly from his mother.

Ultimately, Zane is a good kid, yerning to follow in the footsteps of the Jedi before him.
