DESCRIPTION
Zeno Droid Technologies (ZDT) is a small droid company whose products appeals mainly to droid aficionados and tinkerers. This is due to ZDT products being widely known for their droids possessing an ease of modification and repair, which makes them desirable for tinkers.

There has always been a need for competent protocol droids not only in business and politics, but even the Underworld sees the need for negotiators in the form of protocol droids. ZDT engineers and researchers decided to find out what was needed in terms of a reliable and successful protocol droid, basing the droid off of the H7D-series Protocol Droid. After months of testing, they came up with the ZDT-345 "Redeemer" Protocol Droid. The research showed that a feminine biased protocol droid was more appealing than a male one. As such, the droid was designed to look, walk and speak in a feminine manner. Early prototype testing yielded great results, so production of the droid commenced. The protocol droid got its nickname "Redeemer" due to its ability to go into a negotiation and redeem a lost cause on occasion. A side effect, though tremendously underused, was its ability to serve as a "servant" droid when not in active protocol scenarios. However, the droid may begin to get bored if the tasks are too menial in nature.

The first line of the ZDT-345 looked almost too sentient, so it unnerved some of the clients in the field. The protocol droids were recalled and refitted to look a bit more like droids so that there was no confusion. These droids are known to observe female sentients and learn nonverbal behaviors, mannerisms and actions that seem to make them more "female". In time, their voices possess the smooth cadence of an eloquent female speaker. This is a relentless pursuit by the models that have not had their memories wiped, so most owners are reluctant to wipe them--they get better at their job with age.

LEGALITY
Legal. Protocol droids such as the ZDT-345 series are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.

INTENT
To create a protocol droid, a model to be sold, and as a droid platform for PCs.

"It is rumored that some of the more "eccentric" owners access black market programs that enable them to perform more sensual functions as well, but such rumors have not been substantiated..."

Is this a sexbot? It has boobs, and I see no other reason for a robot to have boobs. Loads of feminine protocol droids in SW, don't remember a single one with boobs.

I can't see if there is a picture, due to IMGUR being blocked at work, but SCORPIO does have the metal framing for one on the now non-canon SWTOR. That's the only one I can really think of.

ME-8D9 is a droid of more feminine chassis design. ;)

Hi again @Wit

Are you stalking all my posts? Do you love me that much? lol

There are many instances of feminine-shaped chassis on Star Wars droids in EU. There is also a canon instance in the Clone Wars, such as the BD-3000 Luxury Droid. You need but look.

I go through new posts, you just happened to post a bunch of tech all at once so shows up all together. That's what happens when you post stuff, people read it.

And I think you're all missing my point about the write-up implying a sexbot and me asking why we need a sexbot? The feminine design was a side point to ask why a normal protocol droid like the 3PO unit can't be feminine? Of course there are instances of feminine design, how many were given "sensual functions" though? In this instance the feminine design seems to have a specific purpose.

As the sentence reads, it is a rumor. It is flavor text. Don't read too much into it.

Why not just drop that sentence it looks fine and we have evidence in the case of the BD-3000 that the look is fine, but we need more protocol droids.

Completely missed the earlier comment, but yeah agree with that. If it's a rumor then why not just drop it, adds nothing to it other than a rather weird implication. And whether or not the look is fine wasn't the point I was making. It was in conjunction with the the other bit that implied that this was meant to be a sex droid.

As it is just flavor text about a rumor, I dropped the statement. In the end, not a big deal.
