  • But I'll tell you this much, with Titus' bounty, there'll probably be plenty of mercs in that bar willing to take him down. I think I'll have a bar gunfight erupt next as the runner slips away.
Look at it through the eyes of reality, the easiest way to capture the reader is to mirror the situation as if it was real. I'm not the creator of Shannon, though, so you have to take a bigger role in how she herself would react. Try this:

She is awaken by gunfire. It doesn't sound like a straight up battle in war, like a saloon shoot-out. It was more of a disturbance, albeit an erratic and abrupt one. I'm not sure where Shannon is sleeping exactly, but I guess your intention was some room in the bar? Anyway, the first thing she would see as she exited that door was a little bit of chaos (not anarchy, yet though). The edgy ones grabbed their weapons and the cowardly ones escape. But there's one thing Shannon should see--and that's an armored man with an arsenal and an unreadable helmet at the entrance. Maybe she'd recognize the guy as Titus, famous for his high bounty. Maybe she thinks he's the cause of all the commotion. It's up to you how she would react.
    Welcome back !
I was seriously considering flying myself to your house to smack you. -.-
Hopefully you can get back to IM as well.
I miss our long winded thought provoking chats!
Which would queue your knife, conveniently just as he begins terrorizing the bar (which by the way, would offset Lev and Vi to align with Titus, and suddenly this entire plot is becoming more dull for me). Not only would Titus easily grab hold of our guy, but suddenly my planned plot becomes entirely shaken and cut off at the knees. Yeah, sure, chaos, wild goose chase. But really dude, if the guy was actually morbid and stupid enough to go this way, then I've ruined myself before I've even begun.
    It would certainly be different.

But honestly, I'm not sure. This offsets the mood I was going for.

If we continue in your version, my depiction seems like the runner is suddenly taking an illogical stand as a vicious psychopath, shooting random civilians in an almost insult to Titus. Though with the reputation I've made about Titus, that would be incredibly stupid. I've already kind of characterized this guy, through appearance, and I feel like this kind of smudges it all. Seeing as how this is the guy sent to snip loose ends, this would be the beginning of a chain of unrealistic events.
I'm just a little worried about plausibility.

If the guy shot some gunfire into the air and began to run at the same time Shannon woke up, then when she got outside, wouldn't the guy already be long gone?
    Aha, nice.

I should've been a little more clear, but this is actually how the runner was shooting:

He had his gun raised in the air and shot probably a fraction of his magazine, hardly any. He would've let go of the trigger.

I had him do this, so the chaos that ensued would allow him to run and escape Titus. Sorry to burst your bubble, I know the whole basis of your post is on this, but now I'm kinda scratching my head figuring out how to do this.
Btw, Dude where's my dad got wrapped up while you were away, people wanted to return to Abra.
    I posted anyway.

You could just as easily post your situation before I posted and then your reaction, just so long you do it before I post again.
He's grey area. But I wouldn't call him inherently evil.

Sometimes he is benevolent, yet at other times he is both ruthless and brutal. I resolve that deep down he feels a tinge of compassion for the weak, but he looks upon all the flaws of the world and it causes him to look at it all without any mercy. One thing is consistent: if there is an obstacle in his path, you can be sure he'll kick it out of the way.

Edit: I recommend his profile. It most likely won't answer any of your questions, but it'll give you a feel for his character as well as aesthetically blow you away.
It's open, meaning the end results are generally unknown. Essentially all we've done is set the stage: Titus is wanted, Lev and what's-her-name are inside gambling.

I'm perfectly willing to continue the wanted plot, with some huge chaos going on, enough to pull all three of you guys in. Or you guys could pick up on the hunt and go after Titus.

Now, what Titus is up to? For now he's more inclined on getting people off his back. But if I continue I'll send Titus on a wild goose chase.
Hey there, I'm Defiance. Classy, wildly talented, and devilishly charming.

Now that we're acquainted, I'd say we should do a thread.

Edit: all joking aside, just looking for a good thread.
