That's not entirely true. Yes many were taken by surprise, but even Ki-Adi-Mundi had enough of a warning to defend himself and was taken down, and he was a councilor. And let's not forget that many Jedi Masters and Knights who escaped initially were hunted down and killed by stormtroopers later when it wouldn't have been a surprise.The reason the Jedi fell so quickly was because they were caught by surprise, if they had been prepared they might've survived
Also, don't forget about the Petranaki Arena where over 200 Jedi were whittled down to a handful by the laughably ineffectual battle droid. My point being, an outnumbered Jedi is at a severe disadvantage. So don't just assume you can survive because you're a Jedi with a lightwand. That arrogance is how most Jedi end up getting killed by random thugs with blaster pistols in the back in a dark alley.
I will however like to add that Darth Maul was far superior to an acolyte. So the analogy Prudii made there is inaccurate. But a Sith Acolyte and whole squad of semi-power armored stormtroopers is nothing to laugh at either.
