I would find this a good addition. its one of the few things I feel that is missing from the rp.

It could work, and would provide a nice balance to the bazillions of criminals and ne'er do wells that seem to make up 99% of the non-faction characters. It would have to be done right though. Some sort of whole-republic, has jurisdiction everywhere type. Like S13 does, but legal. Where S13 is MI5 and MI6 pre-1990's, this would be more like the FBI?

I already thought of something like this and it might not work because people would bitch and moan about biases that people running the faction have. What if they have friends in a criminal faction and those people are conveniently released or bailed out?

This would definitely be a cool thing to add. And it would make sense for the Republic to beef up their general law enforcement from a war-effort point of view, since many petty criminals operating in their space would be cooperating with or paying tribute to the Hutt Empire at this time.

EDIT: On a side note, Jiang and myself have been discussing the creation of a CIA/SIS/SVR/MI5/FBI intelligence mini-faction. I can safely say I highly doubt an RSF board would be created, though.

Isn't that what S13 is though? In the think tank, I was pretty much basing all of my input for it, especially the whole doesn't exist thing, on MI5, pre-1990's, but MI5 nonetheless.

As Nexus said, something much like this is already in the works. It will serve as a legal intelligence and counter-crime agency, much like the FBI, and will have Republic-wide jurisdiction. Further details may be made available as work on the rough draft of the agency continues; for now, it's little more than a concept that's in the works.

I think, in the end, it will come out as a FBI-esque faction. Its purpose as an intelligence gathering agency will be little more than that of keeping track of terrorists and organized crime within Republic space. However, this concept is still very much so in its infancy.

S13 is illegal and used only for the most important deniable ops. MI5 and the SIS, even pre-90's, were still legal entities.

And per Jiang, the legal intelligence branch would be a mix of 'secret' and 'special' agent characters, used more widely for anti-terrorist investigations and the like.

I had made a character who I wasn't sure whether I wanted him to use him in this timeline or a potentially "next" timeline who was essentially part of an experimental "not supposed to exist" "heavy covert operative" military (not police like the topic) branch that was extremely small and involved the use of force sensitives that were also genetically enhanced in ways to do their job better that the republic was completely unaware of and essentially was assigned to just blow the shiz out of the craziest, most dangerously f'd up installments and situations and somehow manage to come out on top through any means necessary.

Does this at all sound like something members of the Republic military MIGHT do behind everyone else's backs to help fend off the Hutt and their elite warrior allies the Taung? EDIT: or even to hunt and kill Bogan. If so I might make this character and put him in this timeline for some crazy fun topics.

It sounds plausible. Whip up the basics of it and send it to me via e-mail [my e-mail is the same as my MSN] and I'll look it over. If what you've got makes sense, chances are solid I'll say 'yes'.

I also like this idea. But you should also include Non-force sensitives as well. For example you have a squad of 3-4 elite commandos and one Force sensitive/jedi character. That way you have an extremely efficiant killing machine.

Naw dude, that's the idea of the group. They are force sensitive, just not Jedi and they use the force sensitivity to enhance their performance. And they don't use lightsabers and shit. Which makes them even more elite. If anything... they're > Jedi because they have no mercy and a lot harder training reigme then Jedi.

By "better than Jedi" he meant in terms of lethality. He means that his group would be trained to eliminate a target, using mundane weapons for secrecy while striking with the heightened reflexes of a Jedi. So they wouldn't have all of the Force powers or be able to match a Jedi toe-to-toe, but in covert ops and assassination, they would be ahead.
