Best if she were perhaps willing to put herself in the boots of her comrades, however she can e given some officer position elsewhere if desired. Just know that she might not receive special treatment, even considering her title.

Maybe she could act as a civilian character instead. I'm just coming up with a better compromise. You'd be of a lower rank in the armed forces, or of a higher rank in civilian services.
