Amongst the eternal pillars of stone, the wind outside howls in fury, the natural caves of ilum having been disturbed from unwanted outsiders. Beside the great rock formations, there ought to be no life, no dark taint to ruin the mystical purity of the cave. But today, the caves were indeed tainted. The black stone walls of the cave told no story, but the lifeless body lying against the base of a rock pillar could. That is, if you were able to force the dead into life once again. Much easier, of course, to talk to the man who still stood. The victor. The man whose heart still thumped, the man whose breathe was staggered, due to the fight and the cold temperature. Upon closer observation, the one still standing held two metallic tubes at his side in each side, as did the fallen one.
Still puffing slightly, Elyphys walks towards the body, clipping his lightsaber to his belt as he did so. At 6ft 8, Elyphys’s normally huge frame seemed minute in the grand cavern, the rock formations seemingly being ageless. The body was bloody, with bite marks of varying levels of severity in chorus with the final killing wound from the lightsaber. Now, with a chance to finally rest, Elyphys spat out his victim’s blood, which together with his saliva formed a small mark on the rock floor. He was no cannibal. His gifts allowed him to bite better, and it was a powerful and discouraging weapon to utilise. Picking the body from the ground using the force, Elyphys slams the corpse into the rock wall, decorating the rocks with blood and visceral matter.
Let that be the next Jedi’s warning. Elyphys mused. After all, it was all but certain they would send someone else, given that this one would never return. But for the moment, no one would arrive and demand answers, no one would come to take him back for questioning. No one to tempt him into another mistake. Sitting down now, Elyphys’s synthetic eyes glowed with a bright cyan as they scanned the cave. His belongings lay beside him, untouched by the fight. It amused him, discovering that the Jedi had remembered him. How thoughtful of them, to remember me now and not when I needed their attention. Elyphys laughed.
There was no bitterness in his mind now. The Jedi had made him vulnerable, but the mistake had still been his own. Elyphys sat silently, resting his back against the rocks. Resting, waiting, planning.
