Alone yet surrounded (Hugo's Training)

[Captain Kara]

The sun shone brightly outside in the garden at the temple. Master T’Truht told Hugo eariler that he would meet him here when the sun touched the high point of the sky. Hugo sat on the edge of a wall looking around watching the other padawans walk by. Some of them looked at him then quickly looked away other disregared him. Hugo sighed it was hard being alone though Master T'Truht helped chase away this feeling.

 

[Storm]

T'Truht had not undertaken an apprentice since his promotion to the rank of Council Member; surprising, perhaps. He'd turned down many applications until now. Surprising once more. Why? The Force had called to him, a magic tug? That sort of summed it up.

His apprentice's name was Hugo.

T'Truht found him, standing there, as he'd instructed. Good. Obedience was always an initial good step, when it came to training. A human, too, as he'd already known.

"Greetings."

T'Truht rumbled, in his Whiphid voice. "I am your master, T'Truht. Please, tell me about yourself. Your life. You. Your hopes. Your fears."

 

[Captain Kara]

Hugo looked at his alien master then he slightly smiled. There was still much hurt found in Hugo's eyes. He was surprised at his Master's words and questions. T'Truht knew him well enough already, as they have spoken on numerous locations. His master had found him. Hugo shrugged inwardly.

"I am Hugo Lerone. I'm 17...." His features darkened, "I...uh...my hopes are that I can get past my own past and my fear is that I will never be be able to move past my own faults and past."

"I can't talk about my past. It brings up horrible feelings that are hard to chase away."

 

[Storm]

"Tell me."

T'Truht did not consider what he did harsh; there was a stint in the psychological make up of this boy, caused by his pushing back of the past.

"I will teach you to deal with it."

"I will help you."

 

[Captain Kara]

Even to bring up the dark memories would be difficult. As he did Hugo's eyes filled with tears, "It was spring I remember, I can still smell the flowers. I was coming home from my...uh...friend's house."

"I walked down the side streets to where our families apartment was. That's when I saw it..." Hugo was sobbing now, "He was standing at the edge of the window. I was wondering what he was doing, then he jumped. I saw it...I saw my father die. He struggled for a moment then died." Hugo collapsed at his master's feet unable to continue.

 

[Storm]

T'Truht sighed.

"The loss of a family member can be a terrible thing."

He conceded. "I saw my parents slain before my very eyes when I was little more than a child." T'Truht conjured up the image, without thought, in his mind again. It still caused him pain, yet he controlled it.

"It would be a denial of human nature to demand that you not feel pain."

T'Truht sighed. "The skill is in not forgetting, not pushing away where it can fester like a wound and turn bitter and bad. What you must do is, instead, rejoice. Your father is one with the Force. Why is that occasion to be sad? Yes, he is not with you."

T'Truht sighed.

"But he is with the Force. It is a hard concept to initially understand, but it is something we all must, when dealing with pain."

Hugo pondered this for a moment, while looking at the ground. He moved his hand about in the dirt on the floor. This fact his master had presented to him was hard to comprehend or swallow for that matter. His father was dead but he was a part of the force. Hugo sighed and stood, he knew with time it would come to him, the understanding.

"I am ready to continue, master." Hugo said smiling a little.
