  • Name: Barab I, or Barab One.
  • Coordinates: U12
  • Hyperlane: N/A
  • Climate: The planet orbits a dim red star, just under 125 million kilometers, resulting in the planet being very dark, even in the daylight hours. That aside, during the day, when the star, Barab shone in the sky, the sky, the surface of Barab I was irradiated with gamma, ultraviolet and infrared rays, which quickly evaporated the existing water on the planet, driving the fauna on the planet to seek shelter underground or in the planet's vast expanses of caves and caverns. During the night-time hours, the inhabitants leave their dwellings within the earth to scavenge for food or two hunt down prey, though only having a limited time to do so, as the rains on this planet during the damp, dark nights are deadly and have claimed many lives.
Terrain: The terrain of Barab I consists of rocky badlands and a vast planetwide network of caves and grottos. During the day, when the water has evaporated, the rivers, lakes and oceans were dried up into vast irradiated deserts. During the night-time hours, the badlands were arid and humid after the 20 hour rainstorm during the night, making flash-flooding one of the most dangerous obstacles to be ever watchful for. Rain meant death for the species the couldn't seek shelter or fight back the currents. As a result of this, most species were reptilian or repto-mammalian in nature, in that they could survive in and out of water, though some caves became grottos, retained some water for purely amphibious non-sentient species to exist in them.
Rotation: One full day spans 60 standard hours; 30 daylight hours and 3 night-time hours.
Inhabitants:

The Durgolosk
270

"Durgolosks were a non-sentint, six-legged species of fearsome predators native to the swamps of the planet, Barab I. Members of the species were huge and white and brown in color. They also possessed tentacles that were tipped with venom. Durgolosks spent more time sleeping, than hunting but ate any creature they met when they did hunt."
--Excerpt from the Durgolosk stub on Wookieepedia
Biology and appearance
Durgolosk were known to grow up to five times the size of a male human, the tallest known to be 13.7 meters, or forty five foot tall, though the average size Durgolosk stands equal to a Rancor in height. It had a flexible spine, allowing for it to rotate it's torso a full 180 degrees. A durgolosk also possesses, a long prehinsile tail, used to grab small prey, 15cm long fangs, six eyes, spread radially around it's head, giving a full spectrum of view at all times, though these eyes are quite often the first target for experienced hunters, in order to gain a blindside. They have six legs, allowing great mobility, and a dangerously fast charge, muscling over any stubborn Barabi flora. The tentacles it possesses are tipped with a neuro-toxin that paralyzes its prey, while it devours the food whole. Typically sleeping for sometimes up to 120 hours (two full day cycles), it would awaken with a ravenous hunger, chasing down and killing any and everything in its vicinity.

These beasts are viewed as predatory pests and are often hunted down by Barabel war parties, though Barabel warriors have fought a Durgolosk one on one to prove their worth. This was a feat proven to be a suicide mission for most, though, those few that prevailed were revered as god-warriors, and were often appointed Chieftain of a tribe.

Shenbit Bonecrushers
500
The shenbit bonecrusher was a large non-sentient carnivorous lizard native to the planet of Barab I. It was covered with bony and thorny plates. It also had two horns and a long tail.

Barabel hunted bonecrushers for sport and meat. Although the shenbit was extremely dangerous to most humanoid species of the galaxy, it was considered to be fairly average prey among the Barabels. In fact, in the Barabel language, "shenbit" roughly translated to "weak person" in Galactic Basic Standard. the Shenbit Bonecrushers were encased in a spiky. protective shell that turned most primitive arms, though between these plates were thin scales providing hard-to-reach, but effective weaknesses in the armor to take down the beast. This armor was defeated with the introduction of blasters to the primitive planet offered a leg up on the hard-to-kill beasts.

Barabel
500

Barabel were a bipedal race of reptilians who were covered in very tough dark colored scales. Evolved from nocturnal lizards, the Barabel adapted a thick layer of fat which allowed them to remain active and not sluggish when temperatures dropped. Their thick, scaly hide has a layer of fat that insulates their bodies for drops in temperature. This also aids resistance to stun bolts, one would have some muscle spasms. The skin of one Barabel is on par with light armor in that the first bolt will be felt, and muscles with contract, but little damage, unless set at an inhumanely high voltage.

Barabel were able to shed their tails if necessary, an ability that proved the undoing of many startled foes. They also possessed heavy retractable claws along with needle sharp teeth which could grow to be 5 centimeters in length. A carnivorous species, Barabel possessed two stomachs in order to process the massive amount of food they required to survive.
For breeding, Barabel devised a system in which the nest eggs of two females were fertilized by two males. Subsequently, the four individuals protected the nest. As fathers would end up not knowing which of the offspring were their own, Barabel younglings took the surname of their mothers. More will be added on the Barabel in the History section.

While there are a panoply of other species and variations in species that inhabit Barab I, these are the most known, as much is still to be learned on this mysterious planet.
Resources:
Barab Ore, a typical souvenir kept by Barabel after leaving their planet, as something to keep a piece of Barab I close.
Barab Fruit, which is a delicacy to some exotic food enthusiasts. Some accounts suggest the fruit has an earthy texture, but an unusually sweet taste.
Government: Barabel lived in the caves of Barab I, in tightly knit tribes. Chieftains often took many wives, having one or two young with each. The young would be raised as siblings but pitted against each other in games of skill, until one was determined fit to take their father's seat as Chieftain. While the majority of Barabel on Barab I revere the Jedi, they care little for the Republic or the growing Sith.
Culture: Living relatively primitively, when compared to most cultures, the Barabel lived in communities ranging anywhere from 20 to 10,000, in warrens sectioned off by the inhabitants, for hunting. The average Barabel possessed exceptional tracking and hunting skills. This was due to the fact that many of their actions were driven by their instinct to hunt. This lead to the Barabel coming off to one unfamiliar to the race to think they are constantly angry.

Well known for their aggressive nature, they were also fiercely loyal to those they grew up with, namely their parents, as it was an often occurrence that growing Barabel would lash out and attack their brothers or sisters if provoked. Apologies are insulting to most Barabel, and it is a rare occurrence to receive one from one. To apologize to a Barabel would likely escalate the situation.

A common insult among the Barabel was the term "shorttail". Though no one aside from a homegrown Barabel knows why this is, to call one such is a death-wish for most.

Technology: The Barabel race has not had any major technological milestones, most notably in the category of space travel. Until trade was established by the Jedi before the rise of the first Galactic Empire, the species had never been off world, only a few would leave to become bounty hunters. Blasters also came as a result of organized trade, and most if not all tech made on Barab I, was a crude copy of traded designs of blasters. Up to this point, they had crude metal weapons and lacked any effective means of forging, so the bones of a Shenbit Bonecrusher was the most common weapon material.
Satellites: Barab I has no moon, but is part of the Barab star system, consisting of three other planets known as Barab II, an inhospitable frozen wasteland and Barab III, a gas giant.
History: The history of Barab I is as long as the universe is old, though due the lack of their own means of space travel nothing truly became of the Barabel people until the Jedi seemingly came from the heavens to aid them in a time of need. War and strife among among the Barabel had been ongoing for thousands of years, and things were reaching a boiling point. The naturall hostile Barabel wear tearing away at each other, and the Jedi seemingly came in at an opportune time to conduct peace talks and help in setting up many zones for which the Barabel of different clans could hunt and conduct trade. Seeing the Jedi as 'God-sent warriors from beyond the clouds', the Barabel cotinued to revere them as such for generations, though one clan, Clan Vohari had very different views on the Jedi, and outrightly opposed them. Some among the Barabel think the clan to be under the spell of a darksider, or a group of darksiders themselves. The latter rumor was helped along by the clan employing several FS Barabel to fight as shock troops against anyone that opposed them.
Intent: My intent was to expand upon a lesser known planet and lesser known race in hopes have providing some more variety to the roleplay in terms of possible settings. There are possible missions to be done by both the Jedi and the Sith. I'll also be doing a write up on some missions for the Sith and SBZ on the planet in the future. Also to be used as a base of operations for a faction I may put together.

Mount Ste'vshuulsz
The tallest mountain on the planet of Barab I, found at the Northernmost end of the planet. At it's base lives the infamous clan Vohari. The mountain itself, is home to the Skotcarp, a mysterious beast shrouded in myth and legend. Few Barabel have seen one. Fewer still have lived to tell the tale.

Vohari Cave Settlement:
Home to the infamous Vohari Clan. Standing about 6,000 strong, those within Clan Vohari forego the Barabel tradition of worshipping Jedi. For reasons lost to their predecessors, the Force Sensitive members undertake training from their shaman to use their Force Sensitivity as Shock and Awe tactics against neighboring clans. One Grik Vohari, last living son of the chieftain was the leader of this band of marauders before unleashing himself on the Galaxy.

Jedi Neutral Zone:
The Jedi Neutral Zone was a cave in the Southern wilds of Barab I, that acted as a court and debating hall, for which the Jedis would mediate the arguments. One some special occasions, duels, squad on squad combat, and hunting games were hosted here. War was still more often than not the answer to troubles between tribes. Only when the Jedi pay a visit, do the Barabel attempt to unify.

Hey there, your fella Breeso here to look at planets. And as I look at this one, I see no problems... except one. You intend to use the Barab Ore as a crystal, but crystals do not do any "stat boosts", so i will have to ask you to remove that. Besides, the only crystal capable of producing a lightsaber blade is a Kyber Crystal, and the colour of the blade is at least partially determined by one's connection to the Force and the crystal.
