[BETA] Star Wars Battlefront

So the BETA is out tomorrow (on all formats) so I'm wondering who'll be playing? This'll probably be obsorbing all my time as Metal Gear's been taking up all of mine currently.

I have it on PS4, but I'll also be playing on X1 from time to time.

I'm not sure if the forum rules allow us to share our gamer tags but until this gets taken down or closed or whatever: add me!

Played it on my PS4 and I love it! The graphics for the Beta are amazing, the sound is excellent. Like when someone throws a thermal bomb it sounds freaking awesome. Its simple as well.

My only wish tho was for them to add Galactic Conquest. I LOVED that game mode on the PS2.

It was alright, nothing terrible. Though hearing of a $50 season pass announced makes me question some things, then I remembered it's EA.

Still, I might get it for Xbox One if enough of my friends get it.

I actually enjoyed it a lot less than I thought I would. The whole thing felt really shallow mechanics wise and the environments were really forgettable. True, the beta offered online about a 1/4 of the content that will be in the final game, but if the beta is supposed to be representative of the final product then DICE flubbed this one.

The absence of classes really robbed the game of a sense of purpose. Instead of filling a role to help my team win I was instead just doing the same as every other player in the game.

The random on map pick ups for vehicles and explosives was a really confusing design choice as was the card based equipment system.

I will give credit where it is due. The game looks and sounds great and I particularly liked that you didn't have ammo for your blasters. I'd be more forgiving if the game was at a lower price point, but as a full priced game I really don't see the value.

Four 'expansion'-style DLCs in the next 12 months on top of that price point, as well. OR BUY OUR SEASON PASS WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE CONTENT WILL ENTAIL AND IT'LL PROBABLY JUST BE SHIT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE INITIAL RELEASE ANYWAY.

Save your money or get a refund while you still can. This piece of shit isn't worth it.

it makes me sad knowing this is the game i waited ten years for. I think it could have been so much better if they weren't trying to push it out before the movie and just added in the old features. Sadly, EA only thinks about money and i think DICE is heading in that direction as well. I'll stick to Battlefront 2, no way im wasting money on the new one.

Because that was an actual studio with vision rather than one that was told to make a tie-in game close to movie release.

T.T im so sick of the same copy and pasted games that get cranked out. i mean alll of the battlefield games are exactly the same, same with cod why do people pay money for this stuff? Its the same product with slightly better graphics

I'd argue there is at least minor changes (more for COD) that do punch things up ever so slightly on top of a system that is generally enjoyable for casual play and if you want to dip deeper there is something there for you too.

i just don't like having to dig the fun out of every game i play, why can't it just be fun to start with and everything else be extra? Thats why i don't understand when people just settle for less, look at Sims 4 for example, they took so much out of that game i can't believe people actually like it. but you know what they say, different people like different things.

I think Sims 4 is a wholly different example since that's been a thing with the last two iterations of that franchise where with each full game they try to sell you back content in DLC. Same as EA's sports titles beginning at the start of last generation of consoles.

And yeah, "fun from the start" is a largely subjective stance. To bring it back to the COD franchise my favorite games typically seem to be the ones people think are the worst.

you are correct there, however the Sims situation i was willing to put up with because the amount of entertainment i got from the dlc was worth it. Also I feel the same way, It baffles me that COD has books and conventions now, i still don't get what people love so much about it.

i think maybe because i have such a strong dislike for online games i don't play cod, thinking about it now i almost never play games because of how busy i am.
