JEAN "BLIND XIAHOU" FORTIER

PART 1: WITH YOUR FEET ON THE AIR
This is not a tale about good and evil, not a tale about Jedi and Sith. This is a tale painted out of the very shades of grey that build our reality. A tale about people who sought to have a common life, but couldn't run from the phantoms of the past. This is the tale of a man whose only craving slowly became war. This is the tale of Jean Fortier, born Thomas Basilius Chrysanthos Jean-Baptiste Fortier.

It all began with his father, Ernesto Erlendwas. A fallen Miraluka Jedi who spent most of his life in social reclusion. The man, once a Jedi admired by many, would end neglecting the very doctrine he spent his life enforcing.

Ernesto could not qualm his wishes, nor could he hold back any longer. Inspired by his connections with the people of the wide galaxy and their vastly diverging ideals, he found great joy in reinterpreting these connections, reinventing and experimenting with both himself and new perspectives. Confused and tired, he ended up leaving the order. In 989 ABY, he went to a small planet called Giaca. His intent in this planet, located in the Unknown Regions, was to recharge his batteries and rethink about his role in the wide galaxy.

Giaca was a lush and wild planet, but it was not the homeworld of any species, nor a colony for any particular species. The only ones living in Giaca, besides the numerous wild creatures that lived in its dense forests and massive volcanic causeways, it also hosted a few scattered outposts belonging to survey teams and a couple of criminal hideouts.

It was in one of those surveying outposts that Eva Aleksandra, an Echani xenobiologist, would end meeting with her future husband. She came to the planet in 993 ABY looking for empiric proof to one of her most recent theories. Her defining characteristics of integrity, practical logic and tireless dedication to duty made her the vital core that Ernesto lacked on his life. Eva enjoyed taking responsibility for her actions, and took pride in the work she did - when working towards a goal, Eva held back none of her time and energy completing each relevant task with accuracy and patience.

Ernesto and Eva meet during one of her field expeditions, and they, of course, fought. They fought for hours on end, until Eva managed to beat Ernesto who, in line with the rules of the Echani art, wasn't using neither his lightsaber or the force. Both of them were startled for finding another friendly sentient planetside, but they were, nonetheless, happy to have found someone they could chat while they pursued their individuals goals. The friendly talking eventually grew into a romantic relationship. When time came for Eva to leave the planet, Ernesto decided to ultimately abandon all of his life behind. All in the name of love.

PART 2: AND YOUR HEAD ON THE GROUND
Eva and Ernesto went to Aargau and lived a life of moderate happiness there. She pursued her goals and managed to prove her thesis true, while he did his best to not be identified as the runaway Jedi he was. It was in this very planet that that Jean was born, in the dawn of a rainy day in the year of 1,001 ABY. Eva was surprised when the boy came into this world in possession of both of his eyes, for a moment she thought that Jean might be capable of sight, but she was soon proven wrong: the boy was just as blind as his mother. Jean was an unusual hybrid between a Miraluka and an Echani, a boy whose educated in both cultures, and a bearer of the races most prominent "features": the Echani's martial arts and the Miraluka's force sight.

The family lived happily in Aargau, but this would soon change. When the catastrophic event that was the Fall of Coruscant happened. Their hopes were slowly dried as they were lead into a series of unfortunate events, provoked by the Sith's genocide. Ernesto saw that the balance of power was unstable and, due to his deep belief that the Sith were power-hungry devils, he decided that Aargau was no longer safe. The three left Aargau, seeking exile in Eshan, Eva's home planet.

Ernesto began to worry about his son's future, as he feared that his son would end up as a drone to the Sith Empire. He ultimately decided that he would begin to teach seven-years old Jean the way of the force. A desperate attempt to prevent his son from falling into the Dark One's rank.

Meanwhile, the boy began to grow stronger. He began to excel in the Echani art, and he did so not for his sheer combat prowess, which was just above average for his age, but for his deep empathy with others and with himself. For the Echani, fighting was a way of self-expression, a means of communication, and Jean easily accepted that as truth. He began to look for the answers of many questions that haunted him amidst this art. He would comfort himself, as he looked for his place in the wide galaxy. The boy was far from the best of warriors, but he was surely a impeccable artist.

Jean became a hardened warrior, displaying a calm and collected demeanor, rarely showing any signs of fear in extreme circumstances. He buried his emotions deep inside himself, only exposing them when practicing the Art, causing some to see him as cold and uncaring. However, when using of the Art, he showed a more human side, expressing great concern for allies' well being, and even demonstrating compassion towards fallen enemies.

PART 3:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iC0YXspJRM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iC0YXspJRMWHERE IS MY MIND? (click me!)
It wasn't long before Eshan fell into the hands of the Sith Empire. Eva, Ernesto and Jean found themselves forced into hiding by the oppressive government, scraping by without even a prospect of hope. The family barely survived the years that came after... and one of them didn't.

By the end of 1,018 ABY, Eva fell victim to a virus that had plagued her in the last years. This marked the end of Ernesto's mental sanity, whose rage had grown uncontrollable. He, alongside his son, now a eighteen year old man, built a militia whose sole objective was to remove the Sith from Eshan... by means of blood. Together they managed to build a strong revolutionary cell in the course of the months following Eva's death. They began to apply guerrilla tactics against the Empire, and the cover provided by Eshan's jungles guaranteed that the Empire was always on the losing side. Ernesto was satisfied with his men's results, and was confident in their capacity of defeating the men stationed on Eshan. The confidence of the man of the Empire was shaken by the ongoing defeats, and got even worse when their heard their enemies were lead by a Jedi.

Everything changed when they were betrayed. For someone revealed where Ernesto's guerrilla meet. A place called "The Bar", where the members of the revolution meet there to receive their order, was raided by Stormtroopers, accompanied by one Sith Lord whose sole purpose was to lure the rumored Jedi out of his hiding... and Ernesto fell for it. He could not hold himself back, the frustration of seeing his revolution crumbling around him, he could not take it. Enraged, he leaped into the fray and meet his end in the hands of the Sith Lord.

Jean could not hold the tide alone. He would be soon dead if he did not retreat, and thus he ordered his men to drop their arms and run. Jean began to run to the nearest spaceship,
but was caught in an explosion that blew his right eye with shrapnel and tore his left arm off. Jean kissed death in the lips that day, but he somehow survived it. With his last breaths, he dragged himself inside the ship and plotted a course into the distant galaxy, just to collapse right after.

He woke up knowing he had lost it all... home and family. There was nowhere to return, for he had lost all he knew. It felt weird, but Jean knew he could no longer run away from what he had became: a warrior. He had found his calling on the battlefield, having spent most of his life there, and he realized it was the only place where he felt truly alive. Jean decided to plot a course to the Unknown Regions, for he had decided to survive doing the only thing he truly knew how to do. Using an eyepatch to cover the mess that his right eye had become
and a bionic arm to replace the one he lost. Jean adopted the nickname "Blind Xiahou" and began to take jobs all around the galaxy.

He was what he was: a soldier with no nation, no philosophy, no ideology. He goes where he is needed, fighting not for government, but for himself. He need no reason to fight. He fight because he is needed. His purpose defined by the era he lives in.

I'M NUCLEAR
(PERSONALITY)

Jean has an innate desire for conflict and a natural thirst for knowledge, mostly because that was the only thing he truly knew, having been exposed to combat at a fairly young age.He often perceives subjects from a military perspective such as using environmental landmarks to set traps,and identifying with aspects of other species, by their military prowess and capabilities in combat.He greatly enjoys his broad and deep body of knowledge, confident in his mastery of his chosen subjects. He uses his creativity and imagination not so much for artistry, but for planning contingencies and courses of actions for all possible scenarios (which makes him a good Echani artist);

He radiates self-confidence and an aura of mystery, and his insightful observations, original ideas and formidable logic enables him to push change through with sheer willpower and force of personality, possessing no qualms in utilizing unorthodox tactis in the field. This isn't to be misunderstood as impulsiveness - he will strive to remain rational no matter how attractive the end goal may be, and every idea, whether generated internally or soaked in from the outside world, must pass the ruthless and ever-presente "Is this going to work?" filter.

Jean is defined by his tendency to move through life as though it was a giant chess board, pieces constantly shifting with consideration, and intelligence, always assessing new tactics, strategies and contingency plans, constantly outmaneuvering their peers in order to maintain control of a situation while maximizing their freedom to move about, this isn't meant to suggest that he acts without conscience, for he is also compassionate and forgiving towards his enemies, to the point of even attempting to save them if they were in need, but to many, his distaste for acting on emotion can make it seem that way. He trusts his rationalism above all else, so when he comes to a conclusion, he has no reason to doubt his findings.

He also opposes killing people who were unable to defend themselves. In addition, he disagrees with mercy killings, feeling that there is always another reason to live.

I'M WILD
(ARMOR)

Jean tends to live with what he finds in the field, possessing only a couple of blasters and vibroknifes. Truly, his only noteworthy equipment is his armor: a reward given to him by one his clients, this armor has followed Jean in his path, and he has developed some attachment to it. This armor is composed of a layer of high-strength armorweave, with a layer of rubber-like material covering some of the vital parts of the body. The armor was then inserted and fitted with various plastoid plates to act as combat gear and coated with reflec polymer. The armor also comes equipped with sound dampening boots.

The helmet consists of a four-layer construction. The outer layer is made of plastoid composite armor, the next layer an anti-blaster mesh, followed by magnetic shielding and finally an inner insulator. Cellular padding helps to prevent head injury. The helmet also has a internal HUD software, that displays crucial information regarding the mission: it has access to a wide database of relevant paramilitary info.

Jean also uses an airtight thermoguard body glove under the suit.

In its whole, the suit provides average-level protection against blasters and low-level protection against vibroweapons, not being able to withstand the first attack from heavier weaponry or a lightsaber. Despite this, this suit greatly enhances the user stealth capabilities.

I'M BREAKING UP INSIDE
________________________________________________________________

Just to clear some things out: this character is not trained in the force. He possesses Force Sight and Force Sense to some extent, but he cannot use any other powers. His father taught him how not to crumble into the Dark Side, and that is about it. I intend for him to organically join a faction as my roleplay develops, but for now he will remain a mercenary.

thy, any feedback is appreciated.
