I turned the thing on after nearly a year of not using it and its got 3 flashing red lights on it. After searching it on the net, one has discovered that it is a hardware issue and the console is fucked. I searched ways of fixing it and have tried the "Magic Towel" method. I wrapped the X360 in towels for 15 mins and let the thing cook, then I turned it off and let it cool down for a further 15 mins.

Behold! It started and it works... for about 2 mins, then it freezes right in the middle of the game, either that or it doesnt load at all.

LOL...

After around a year of not using my original XBOX, it stopped working as well. It probably just collected too much dust inside the disc drive. You have two options, attempt to contact Microsoft in hopes that they'll help you, or open the puppy up yourself and clean the drive.

That happened to mine. Repeatedly. It was only fixed when I sent it back to microsoft and they sent me a new one (just the console in a brown box, no Hard drive or controllers or anything fancy).

A quick warning. If you open it up and attempt to clean it out yourself before contacting microsoft they won't even touch it. Its voiding the warranty when you start to tamper with it.

I feel great that my 360 has never had a hitch. It was one of the infamous 'launch day' batch too.

I feel smug...:CNerd:

That normally takes a day or so.

Remember to take your hard drive off and all the acessories. Just send the bare bones console in.

They'll take your hard drive so fast it'll make your head spin. A friend had it happen to him.

I am going to give you an important batch of instructions that you should follow to the letter.

1. Take your hand and look at it, balling it up into a fist.

2. Position it in a punching position and aim for your own face.

3. Repeatedly punch yourself until bloody for suggesting a purchse of the ps3.

Enjoy.

I've played both 360 and PS3. Honestly, from what I could see, the PS3 is not as good.
Gameplay wasn't brilliant, and the graphics were honestly closer to a 2nd generation console than a 3rd one.

360 is better.

That's why I said two options. As if you try to open it up, you no longer have the option of calling Microsoft.

I hate fanboys...

Why? Because the 360 is an obviously superior machine?

The only game I'd consider buying the PS3 for is MGS4.

End of story for all the tech they dumped into the ps3 it is inferior.
