This will be the OOC thread for the upcoming Boot Camp: Class 001 Thread. Don't let the title scare you away if you aren't part of the NCO Corps, this class is open to all Alliance Members and Jedi. Remember, you can only sign up one character per Thread, so you can't have all of your characters in the same class, this will allow other users to participate and develop their characters properly and see how each character will interact in combat, garrison, and secret missions. In order to teach this class and have the class flow smoothly, so for later classes I will need a few instructors to keep up the teacher:student ratio. The most effective ratio is 1 instructor to 5 students, so for the first class there will only be one course instructor, Corporal Steven Cantrell. Even though Trellheim pointed out that a Corporal would only lead at most 4 men into combat, this course is not necessarily "combat". It will take place in the Combat Simulator in order for our character's skills and roles will be effectively graded to improve performance.

The Training simulator is a long used tool in the training of Alliance forces. The system allows for fighter pilots, command staff, and even ground ops to hone their skills in carefully designed scenarios designed to test them, and allow them to further develop their understanding and ability to function in live combat simulations without any risk to the user. It is often used by senior officers to study those serving under them. With information gathered from performance Senior officers are better able to place new recruits, and even offer promotions based on skill, and tactical knowledge.

As most military personnel that are on this site will agree to a certain point, NCOs teach the majority of military training (if not all), and it is layed out in the Galactic Alliance Thread,

Spoiler: The Responsibilities of a Corporal

Corporals are the second lowest rank in the Military's hierarchy due to their inexperience in military combat. They serve as junior non-commissioned officers in a platoon or on a ship. Corporals are also mentors to recruits of the military.

I am just fulfilling my duties as an NCO. As Radzkie pointed out, making classes mandatory takes the fun out of everything, so I have cleared the roster of names and I would like everyone to sign up if the want to. To entice players to attend the class, I ask for Radzkie to allow each student to receive 100 credits for completing the class. In summary, these courses are designed to ensure the Alliance is better prepared for war against all enemies and to ensure that each player has a chance to participate on the site; after all, we're here to have fun!

If this was authorized by Radz that's all good and well, but as a Corporal you can't make anything mandatory for Privates or 'pull rank'. You'd lead, at most, four men in a combat situation.
