Appearance

With a face of obvious youth, Cale clearly looks his age as opposed to looking younger or older than he actually is. Although at most times his countenance is commonly concealed under layers of oil and grease. Whether that makes him ruggedly handsome instead of boyishly so is up to the ladies to decide, but possessing a formidable build, he’s a catch for hard labor if nothing else.

Cale usually has his hair cut short and cropped, not being fond of having it get in the way of his work. His brown eyes are simply so: plain and unremarkable, but keeping within some depth of ulterior recognition. His lack of style preference is easily detected upon observing his general attire of blue coveralls when on the job, thus most of the time, or casual clothing like a simple shirt and pants.

Gear

Cale’s equipment consists of a toolbox containing the typical contents one would typically expect to find, in addition to a tool belt. Holstered on that belt is a wrench which he has in mind to use as a makeshift weapon when necessary, along with a simple hand blaster for more dangerous circumstances, not that he hopes to encounter any. His only accessories are that of a silver necklace with some kind of engraved locket and a metal watch worn on his left wrist.

Pets

One Mooka named Kizmo.

Personality

Cale usually keeps to himself in most matters of daily aspects, letting others initiate conversation first and not being one to voice his thoughts on the spot. However, he is not introverted to the point of being self-centered, and is instead capable of engaging in lengthy discussions or casual chitchat when he allows himself to be.

Perhaps the nature of his work in which he tends to operate alone could be attributed to his overall quietness, in the sense of keeping it going rather than being the cause, for he has pretty much been this way since the foundations of his childhood. Despite his preferences of present solitude, he is no way shy, and is especially forthcoming when it comes to situations that go against his sheer approval.

This leads to a sense of empathy toward most people he comes to encounter, amplified then only by the furthering of established relationships. On the other hand, any who could be considered his enemies are characteristically shunned, and even those whose hearts he may come to doubt are placed under severe scrutiny.

To analogize, he could be seen as a warm- if lion-hearted beast of both personal and physical territory; one wary of trespassers and often confrontational to invaders, whether such entities be encroaching upon his property or his relationships. Yet, toward the latter, sentiments and extensions of friendship are commonly conducted on his behalf.

Cale believes in the individualism of all beings, regardless of species, race or any other makeup. His belief is firm and foremost in the face of contrary circumstances, tying in with a sense of justice and freedom that is deserved to all creatures. An exception to this creed lies in the boundaries of the very ones seeking to strip away such rightful traits of existence; to Cale, those ones are the ‘universal enemy’ and may even end up as being undeserving of the very qualities of life than those who respect them for what they are.

A paradox in character, perhaps, and certainly a corruption in code, but all in all Cale believes in the exercising and upholding of individual rights based purely on life itself. In line with that thought, he however does not actively pursue any revolutionary goals and is in no way a political activist, preferring to steer well away of such things that he considers being “pointless”.

History

Cale was born in Coruscant to a blue-collar heritage. His father was an industrial miner and his mother worked the counter of a shop specializing in hardware. The shop was actually owned by his father’s brother. Given the lifestyle he was born into, Cale’s upbringing was befitting of such nature, one which his parents’ own upbringing most likely caused them to in turn impose their same levels of strict discipline and obedience upon Cale himself. However, this was done with the child’s best interests at heart—never was there any form of abuse. Simply put, he learned in various ways from both mother and father how to distinguish right from wrong and the necessity of working hard in order to support both his life and the lives of his possible offspring down the road.

His father, therefore, was not hesitant on raising up Cale to be what he called his “little man”. That is to say, making a man out of a boy since the day he was born. Of course, this was only subtly so, with Cale’s father realizing the futility of youth’s true awareness of adult circumstances. Still, at times, his mother would gently but firmly correct his father when he would more brazenly seek to influence Cale to an adult’s standards.

Regardless, the child was brought up with dignities and traits that made a man a man, and by his latter teenage years he began to feel himself distancing from some of his friends, regardless of their own classes, due to what he regarded as them being “immature”.

Such instances were the focal points of his personality becoming more and more closed to the outside merely in normality. However, certain friendships were maintained along with on-and-off intimacies with girls, as such relationships were never considered to be anywhere near serious, or at least to him they weren’t.

As a teenager, he was quickly put to official work by his uncle. Initially, Cale had wanted to work alongside his father, but although his father instructed him in the theory of the work he performed since Cale was a growing boy, he was pointed out that the job of an industrial miner was for the moment too much for a young man not yet even out of his mid-teens.

So, instead, Cale’s uncle took him under his wing, putting the lessons that Cale learned from fixing his father’s vehicles, doing work around the house and school Shop projects to the test via letting him work in both his hardware store (learning from his mother) and in his adjacent garage shop. Cale took no time to make a friend out of his uncle, who often served as a second father to him when his real one wasn’t around in the day.

Time went on, and Cale began to make a small living of working with his uncle, taking repair contracts from the hardware store and fixing vehicles in the garage. Footballs and gamepads were gradually being replaced by devotion to the hammer and wrench and the slick feel of oil on the skin began to feel more pleasant than the touch of a female face. Such distinctions of character did not go unnoticed by any three of his guardians, who in their own ways delivered their pride, amusement or inward concern.

One day, an accident occurred within the garage shop of Cale’s uncle. Cale had been working under a vehicle that was thought to be properly suspended when its support buckled under the weight and came crashing down upon Cale. He had moved in time to avoid the bulk of the vehicle itself, but part of what he had been repairing had come loose in the fall and was heavy enough to break his right hip.

After undergoing a repair of his own afterward, finding out that his hip was overall okay but would likely give him problems every now and then in the future, he instead placed his worry away from his own body and upon the bloodthirsty visage of his father. However, while in previous occasions that face’s eyes would be planted on Cale’s own, this time he knew their different direction, and he knew that his father had it in for his uncle.

Cale was of course unable to be blamed; after all, it wasn’t his fault that the vehicle’s jack wasn’t properly stable. That equipment was under the sole ownership of his uncle. Needless to say, a confrontation of verbal bombardment erupted between both men, and all Cale could do was gulp and bow his head while watching from the sidelines. Eventually, and to his greatest anger and disappointment, Cale was cast out of service to his uncle by his father.

He understood why his father insisted on this demand, but at the same time, he just couldn’t understand. The outcome was typical of a confused and frustrated teenager: Cale left home and assumed himself to be smart and old enough to seek business elsewhere, rarely and barely maintaining ties with his family, though more so with his uncle.

To this day in Coruscant, Cale hasn’t found a permanent home or a job for that matter to stick with in order to support himself, finding that he travels more than he situates, despite work being rather easy for him to find. There’s no single doubt that he’s good at what he does, but perhaps his almost nomadic lifestyle is a key indication of his mind not being made up in the slightest of what he wants to be, even if he has yet to recognize that wake-up call.

Alright Shize, I'm going to say you are breathing a bit of fresh air into the realms of profiles here on SWRP.

You've done a great job of writting out his history. It certainly touched on the basis for his personality (Which oddly sounds like me). Although your character sounds like the average joe, he has potential to become a key piece in other character's stories. Reason I say this is because if you do know quite a bit about being a mechanic, you could potentially sign up with the Republic and start working on some of their ships. Hell, Cale might just end up meeting a bounty hunter and potentially might become a hunter himself.

That's what I really like this about this character. He has potential to become whatever he wants with the proper contact with other characters.

And what I don't know, I can learn. ; )

Yes, and as it stands, I happen to be a believer in turning a Winston Smith into a Chuck Norris. Well, maybe just Jack Bauer. Well...

All kidding aside, thank you very much for the input. It's appreciated.

Intended or not, I shall take your last line as my cue to get out there and roleplay!
