BIOGRAPHY

The Attars were middle-class merchants from Coruscant. Business was booming, and the family was moving up in life. But they faced a barrier. The very same one that separated all those like them from the planet’s upper echelons. Lineage. That regardless of their achievements, they were fated to stand beneath the Aristocratic Core of the Galaxy simply because of the circumstances of their birth.

Their son Callum, was to head in the exact same direction until his fifth birthday: the moment he was found to be Force Sensitive. In that instant, the boy’s life was flipped upside down. Callum Veles Attar, was to be whisked away into the Republica’s embrace and held aloft, far above mere mortals; forged into a higher being: a 'true' Sith.

The boy was talented and eager to learn, but life among the darksiders was never simple. The Sith believed that - solely by virtue of existing - they stood above all other life forms. In their eyes, this was an established fact. And Callum, being a Pureblood, stood higher than most. But despite his newfound status, his future prospects were by no means limitless. For within the Republica’s Sith, there too existed a hierarchy. And there, sadly, his greatest obstacle was the very same one his parents faced in the outside world: a distinct lack of Aristocratic ancestry.

Callum’s prestigious race meant that the Republica could not consider him a lesser creature. Thus, he could not be restricted to lower Sith Society. But, devoid of a powerful Name and the backers that came with it, he was also unfit for its Upper Echelons. And so, having a foot in two worlds, sadly, the boy could never quite belong to either. It was in this strange limbo that he spent his formative years: forcefully distanced from some of his peers for being too great a specimen, and from others for not being great enough. But the one good thing they say about distance, is that at times, it can bring about perspective.

A life of solitude did not agree with the young Attar. The heart wants what the heart wants, and his craved interaction. And, if Sith are to be fuelled by emotion, why should he not deliver? So, unable to fully bridge the gap between him and his fellow darksiders, the young man saw no better way to sate his needs than to branch out.

His status as an Imperial allowed him to meet with Artists, Scientists and even Diplomats. And through these individuals the young man learned. Their stories and life experiences often clashed with and even cut through Sith doctrine, particularly when it came to matters of Aliens and Near-Humans. So, little by little, in the heart of the Republica, a progressive Sith was born. But his change of heart had presented a troubling situation: If equality was to become the norm and his status as a Pureblood thereby rendered useless, what would become of him? Would he be confined to a life of lower birth, just as his parents had been?

Juggling with conflicting ideals meant that the young man needed to change. The simple fact remained that without power, influence and a close circle of allies, what he had would be stripped away by those looking to use him as a stepping stone. But, in drawing attention to himself he'd risk stepping above his station and be pushed down all the same. From this impossible situation came a maxim: Nails that stick out get hammered. In the future, that sentence would both drive him onward and reel him in. His survival depended on it.

Today, at a mere twenty-six years young, this Acolyte has outlived two Emperors, a Dark Lord and an Imperial Palace. That, alongside the merging of the Republica with its 'cousins' from Korriban and the growing Mandalorian threat, have made the ground beneath Callum’s feet less and less stable, and his mantra more applicable than ever.

All in all, a herculean task stands before this Acolyte. But then, what is the alternative?

APPEARANCE

Callum remains - despite his progressive mindset - an individual raised in the ways of the Imperial Republica, evidenced by his proud, composed stance, movements filled with poise and grace, and dulcet baritone tinged by a Coruscant accent.

The man himself stands with a tall frame, coated in lean but not imposing muscle and a full head of shoulder-length hair in autumn tones of light and dark browns with the occasional hints of grey poking through. Fair skinned, with a strong jaw, pale lips and a set of hazel eyes that seem to shift towards shades of green or brown depending on how the light hits them, it seems that every aspect of this individual’s physique displays the ideals the Republica once stood on. That this is, without a shadow of a doubt, a Human Pureblood.

When not donning his armour, Callum can be found garbed in a variety of stylish but never ostentatious clothing that complements his features and figure, typically in Sith tones of black and grey, or some neutral blues and browns that hint to his conservative upbringing. After all, to someone who grew up surrounded by the politics and judgement of Coruscant’s Sith, cultivating appearance is of the utmost importance.

Across his left shoulder is a tattoo: His 'mark'. A would-be crest that one of his tutors had clamoured for him to create during his teenage years, so that it might one be day be his calling card.

x
PERSONALITY

In day to day life, Veles is a calm and polite individual, neither soft-spoken nor overbearing. Being more progressively inclined - especially when compared to many of his compatriots from the Republica - Attar tends to appear as a more cordial and moderate alternative, which affords him a rarely seen form of wisdom among Sith ranks. That said, his ultra-conservative upbringing can sometimes lead to the man being overly ceremonial and stiff in certain social settings, which has proven counterproductive in the past but, at the same time, might just humanise him further.

In spite of his composed, nonjudgemental (for the most part) attitude, the Acolyte does possess all the trademarks that the Empire instills into its higher ranks. Callousness, cruelty and self-serving calculation. It’s all there, in all its glory. What might separate him from the pack, is that this isn’t all that he is. Having chosen to follow a less extreme path, the individual shuns isolation and actively seeks out people he can depend on, and who can depend on him.

Furthermore, though by no means too cowardly to stand up for himself and his beliefs, Callum has no intention of becoming some rising star in Sith ranks, and is all too aware that his path to survival involves carefully considering his battles.

x
ABILITIES

Trained in the Republica and the Sith, Callum was taught the ways of the Arts, the Sciences, the Force, Leadership, Strategy and Diplomacy as well as trained in the Martial ways from a very young age. He has, as a result, attained a respectable level of skill in all of these areas. Furthermore, being of the belief that the Empire is unkind to the faint of heart and weak of mind and that even minor mistakes can prove fatal, the Acolyte keeps to a strict regiment of combat practice, and actively works to stay informed.

His supremacist upbringing has brought him advantages in his social standing, but has left no small amount of gaps in his skillset. His teachers largely believed paths like slicing, studying alien languages and at times even piloting to be beneath their - and consequently his - stations, making ti hard to progress. Fortunately, the Acolyte’s extracurricular activities have bore some fruits.

Attar has picked up a few things regarding alien cultures from his study of the arts, and his more practical outlook on life has led him to attain some level of proficiency over vehicles and blasters. That said, many of the skills agents of the Empire would describe as their bread and butter elude him still.

The Republica’s emphasis on Diplomacy and their own twisted traditions have made Callum’s lightsaber usage more focused on polished, efficient and even graceful moves, as opposed to the more brutal and pointed training those who learned under the the looming threat of Kaggaths may have experienced. Though the pureblood does not consider himself weak or inexperienced for his class, how well he’ll do when faced against the more barbaric, relentless assaults of certain combatants is anyone’s guess.
