I grew up on Dantooine. I'm 14 years old. There's not much more than that. I never knew my parents, and I live by stealing tablescraps. There's not alot of depth to my life, or noble achievements. But, that's how life is.. you take what you can get in this universe.

Fortunately or not, that changed. A few weeks ago I was taken into this grand place they call the Jedi Order by a very good man. He picked me up after a battle with 'Darksiders separated from the Empire,' as he called them. I journalled the battle as best as I could, considering it was a bit of a significant point in my life.

I was walking around on a hill one day, my favorite hill that I ran around on with my friends, and sat and ate apples with my friends, and sometimes looked up at the stars with my bare heels dug into the wet grass. Below the hill there was a large plain, with the sweetest pickings of berries that you can't never get anywhere else.

But there aren't very many berries left anymore, sadly..

I looked down the hill, and - I actually heard it before I saw it - there was a battle going on. It wasn't a skirmish or a shootout or anything like I had seen before in the slums of my town, but it was a real full-fledged battle. There were two sides to this battle. One was comprised of some strange looking men in white armor carrying massive laser shooters - I learned later that these were former Imperial Stormtroopers - led by a mean looking man with a red stick connected to a grip - I learned later, too, that that was what was called a light-saber.

The other side of the battle was comprised of some more men, and another man with a green stick on a grip, and he led his men which were wearing green battle armor with a gold logo on the shoulder. Later the man with the light-saber told me that these were the brave soldiers of the Galactic Alliance, the ones I had seen in numerous dreams, and I once dreamed of being one myself.. I had their armor, but I wasn't equipped with a laser-shooter like they had. I wasn't holding anything, but I was pushing my palms forward, and it looked like some invisible force was pushing my enemy back. Then I ran up to the man.. and punched him real good with a one-two, then sent him a flying kick, I think. But then I woke up.

To be more specific with the leaders, the man with the green light-saber had little horns on his head. They weren't very pretty, but they weren't ugly either - they kind of made him look distinguished. And brave. He looked very brave with the horns. He looked like a very, very brave, noble warrior.

The other.. the leader of the white-armored men, was really quite ugly.. even without horns on his head. His eyes were full of rage, and his strokes with his sword were vengeful. I could tell that he was the villain in this battle, and he led the villains' army. His stride was commanding and he displayed a battle yell every time he slashed or lunged with his light-saber. His head was covered with a long, black hood, that extended into a coat touching the earth. His skin was silverish and his eyes were a neon green.

The two factions clashed and many men fell at the first confrontration. The leaders cut through each other's men, one graceful like a dove and one vicious like a vornskr. There was no end to the constant smashing and kicking and punching and shooting and slashing and lunging and yelling and charging. I almost couldn't bare to watch, but I wanted to see how it turned out, because I always wanted to be a soldier myself.

And then the two leaders clashed. Their contrasting blades pulsing into each other lit up the whole battlefield - there were rainclouds overhead and it darkened the field significantly. One lunging for justice, the other slashing for conquest... it seemed like the two's blows never ended. The man with the horns cleaved and charged with his blade gracefully and danced around his enemy like a ball-room dancer, and the other man with the hood didn't have half the grace of a fly...

The troops on each side were equally tired, and it was now pouring down rain on the field. They paused from their brawling and blasting to stop and look at their leaders, who were fighting for dominance of the battle. The fight was evenly matched and both were not tiring at the least.

Then the horned one seemed to gain the upper hand. He was pushing the Sith(now I remember that the Zabrak - that's what the horned one said what he was after the battle - said the man with the hood was a Sith Lord, a very mean one indeed)further and further with his blows.

But the Sith soon regained his ground in the duel. He blasted back the Zabrak with his bare hands.. he had emitted some blue electricity from them that shocked the Zabrak even through his tough armor. Then, he shot another burst, but the horned man was ready, and returned it with his own invisible blast. The two attacks met in the middle of the battlefield and hit each other at full-strength. Their power fluctuating at the second - at one moment it looked like the lightning was winning, and at one moment it looked like the invisible blast was gaining ground.

The conflict exploded - literally. The blasts seemed to dissipate each other and they sent the combatants flying into their respective armys. The Sith landed on his feet, dusting off his own coat and brushing off his soldiers when they tried to help him up. The Zabrak, however, was flung into his crowd, landing straight on his back. It looked like he was pretty sore.

Then the Sith ran straight forward, jumped up, and pulled his light-saber behind his back, and with a battle yell, glided straight down onto the Zabrak like a hawk. He was ready to deliver the death blow. Now at this point I REALLY couldn't watch, and buried my head in my knees.

Master Solus(as I now call him) dove to the side and ignited his saber, and when the Sith plunged down to deliver his killing attack, drived his blade into the Sith's abdomen. After that the Zabrak led his men to subdue the Sith's remaining soldiers, I think it looked like most of them had just surrendered.

A couple minutes after the battle was finished, I ran down the hill and jogged over to Master Solus and offered him my water bottle. He was lying on the ground up against a crate, blotting his bloody head with a cloth. He took it gladly and smiled at me - but then he looked at me sort of funny. He was staring in my eyes, not the creepy sort of way but the.. deep.. sort of way.
"What is your name?" he asked.
"I don't really know, but I like to be called Cat, because my friends say I run fast." I replied.
He looked at me with that strange look again and asked me another question.
"Where are your parents?"
"I don't know, I never knew them."
Then he asked me to sit down. He took out a little machine and stabbed my finger with it. It didn't hurt like I thought it would, and it only made a little drop of blood, which Master Solus took in his machine.
"As I suspected.." he whispered to himself. I didn't really know what he ment at the time.

Later, the Zabrak told me to call him Master Solus, which I did happily, because it was better than calling him Horned Man, or Mr. Zabrak. He asked me if I wanted to go with him to Coruscant, and see the Jedi Temple. He said I had potential, and wanted to train me to be like he was.

I didn't know what to say at the time. It all happened so fast, but I decided to go with him. This Jedi Temple must be better than my current living arrangement, I thought... a cardboard box behind a cantina. So I went with him and his remaining soldiers inside of what he told me was a starship. It was a little cold, but the ride to Coruscant was short. I slept overnight in Master Solus' room. It was probably the best sleep I ever got.

When I arrived at this Jedi Temple, there were quite a many strange creatures to meet me. Alot of Humans, though, too, and some other species such as Nau-to-leens or Twy-leaks. They all welcomed me, and gave me my own room in the big temple.

As of now, I just got finished with going through some training with other Padawans, as they called us young persons here at the Temple. I got to practice with a light-saber for the first time. I didn't really like it. It seemed kind of bulky, and I'd much rather use my hands and feet than lug around that lightsaber. So they've let me use gloves instead of the sword.

All of this has happened in the past few days, and I must say, I kind of like this Jedi Knight thing.. and I hope that someday I can be a great master like Master Solus.
