Cavalas is a troubled man whose sanity is barely kept together through the sheer drive of his crusade against the Exiles. His zeal seems random, for he has not known personal betrayal by the Exiles and while the events on Ilum certainly left its marks on him, they don't seem the driving factor. Perhaps Cavalas hopes to prolongue the war as long as possible so he doesn't have to remind himself of the fact that he has nowhere to return to. During his time on Dantooine, searching for Councilor Shivaaga, Cavalas was observed to be grumpy, paranoid and full of regret. It seems as if the killing of fallen jedi that he once knew weighs heavier on his soul than he'd like to admit and he is quick to believe a particular jedi's fall to the Dark Side is inevitable. Naturally that conviction only led to his own dalliance with the Dark Side in the final day of his search for Councilor Shivaaga.
Having lost before the faith in Shivaaga's crusade and the conviction of his personal mission, Cavalas became desillusioned with the Jedi Order and disappeared from their temples for five years. He managed to shield himself away from the Force during this time and through meditation and patience managed to keep the lure of the Dark Side at bay. Still his zeal hasn't lessened and recent events only made it stronger, urging him to return to Tython. -
Holo-log entry #1 'Prologue'
I was born into Serenno nobility and groomed to take up my first duty as an officer in its military body. That is, until I was unable to hide my Force sensitivity to my fellow officer cadets any longer. I regret having to make the choice between becoming a blue-blooded house servant or serve in another's army. Now, twelve years later I'm still unsure whether choosing to join the Jedi Order was the right choice to make. Especially..
Especially after Ilum. Don't ask me what I thought of Syresh Lapar or the Fallen Jedi that I have killed there and elsewhere for the Order. I don't even know what the Jedi Order once was, what it stood for, all I know is the war I've fought in its name. The Crusade I am going to continue in the name of the brethren I lost to the fallen.
The Force is my affliction, my curse, for I have no interest in its powers or potential. If I had it my way I'd be on Serenno right now serving Count Dex as the captain of his guard. My people, however, dislike those of my affliction and after witnessing Ilum I understand that dislike all too well. We are not alive to heal and mend, we cannot control ourselves enough to rule and we are too naive to think we can accrue wisdom. As the Force wills it we are here to fight a war..
and as the Force wills it I will do all in my power to end it
Holo-log entry #2 'Darkness of Dantooine'
I think I've misunderstood the Jedi values and code this entire time. Despite all their pretense they value only one thing and that is personal power. Here I was sacrificing my sleep, my sense of honor and the balance of what was right and wrong for the Order, so that it could thrive without the horrors that I witnessed, and what did I get in return for my tireless work? Disdain. Those that allowed dissidents to grow and protected them until they were a blight on the galaxy were respected, revered and loved. All I did was fixing their mistakes, but no one cared to try and stop the inevitable outcome. Jedi fell to the Dark Side, powerful ones at that, achieving much more power as a result.
The Darkness of Dantooine showed my that it wasn't the Dark Side or the droid army that was said 'Darkness' on Dantooine, but it were the jedi knights and masters. I have lost my conviction and my drive. It is time for me to distance myself from those that destroy the galaxy and return to my homeworld in order to protect it from those that would seek to claim it.
Holo-log entry #3 'The Imperial Deluge'
I shouldn't be angry over this. My responsibilities lie with the young soldiers in my unit and their survival. Yet.. why did the Jedi Order fall so far? They should've risen up after Jedha, yet they cowered on Tython and only few were seen going out in the galaxy and even those brave few never dared to seek out an exile. The Exiles are still united and ruled over by Alais, Evalyn's pride pupil. I shouldn't linger and speak ill of the dead, but what in the Force was she thinking attacking the Exile temple on Prakith with so few? And why hadn't the Jedi gone to Ryloth and taken back all the lightsabers we've lost to those vile Hutts?
As is the zeal was left behind on Dantooine. Too many masters fell to the Dark Side -just like I predicted- and those that were left hid in fear of coming closer to that they feared most. No, not Andraste or the Dark Lord of the Sith or The Eternal. They fear the Dark Side itself. As they should.
The Republic cannot take a stand against the Dark Side, for they don't understand the power it holds. This war with the Hutt Cartel is folly. I should live out my last years of being able to run by running ahead of a group of Jedi knights who all have great zeal to attack the Sith Order. They should fear the Jedi crusaders as they once did. Yes. It's time for me to return.
