A good chunk of Star Wars names Are Celtic Mythic figures, so there is a source, look up Celtic myth and draw from there, thats also how I picked Sith names, I looked at the character traits of that person, and chose a hero or farie/god that was alot like them:

some Celt names used in SW are:

Sith: male form of the sidhe
Mannan: one of the ocean gods
Tyranus: mythic hero
Bastilla: worrior queen of the sidhe
Korriban: basically a place of exile, equil to the first level of hell

well thats a few,, but you get the hint..also alot of alien species tend to get names that are more portugese in origin, sence they use alot of x, and z's in names, making them sound exotic

Personally, I have a horrible time coming up with names for my characters. I usually try to name my character after a word in a different language, or after some mythological god or creature, but I end up not liking the name afterward.

You all seem to have these awesome names for your characters, and i'm kind of wondering how you do it. Any special techniques (i.e. mashing buttons until it looks right) or tips or anything? I'm desperate here. :17:

Look up names in the databank at starwars.com. Check out the names and mix them in your head. Or if you have Star Wars Galaxies, go to character creation and press the "random name" button. Choose one they give you for the site. Use your imagination.

Well, so far, I'm just taking normal Names like "Bo" or "Bruce"...But "Aarma Madet" is my own creation.
Just take the first 3 letters of your 1st name and combine them with the first 2 letters of your last to make the first name.

Take the first 2 letters of your last name again and combine them with the first 3 letters of your home town to get the last name.
