PERSONALITY
At a first glance, Veronika would probably appear to you as a trailblazer, someone who tries out new things before anyone else. Often called the cautious risk-taker, she is one that plans out her every move, yet goes beyond the typical person to achieve her goals. She is very persistent with her goals, and is one to stick to her beliefs.
Despite her seemingly rebellious attitude, she is also is known to be quite responsible for others. Veronika is seemingly courageous, however this is simply because she simply puts others before herself at nearly all times. Some may call that the definition of courage, but she doesn't consider it so. While this may seem like a good trait, Veronika often doesn't factor herself into the equation and is susceptible of putting herself in danger when there was truly no need.
While Veronika is a capable witch in many areas, her primary skill lies in Transfiguration. She is able to precisely transform things, creating a very realistic object out of another. She is known for her quickness with this ability, able to perform skilled works without much time needed.
Veronika also knows and remembers a wide variety of spells, able to recall most just off of memory. This makes her a good on-the-spot dueler, although her actual power with these spells is not very great.
BACKGROUND
Veronika was born to Jaecar and Alessa Voelker in the capital of Germany, Berlin. Both her parents were Purebloods, although some of the less arrogant ones around. They had both been in the house Ravenclaw, however they wanted Veronika to choose her own path, not simply be a shadow of her parents like many other Pureblood children.
Veronika's childhood was one filled with mischief and traveling. Her mother and father are Aurors for the Ministry of Magic despite living in Germany. Due to this she often travelled to the UK and stayed there for decently long periods.
When Veronika was 10 years old she was diagnosed with tactile hyposensitivity. This was discovered when her parents noticed she sometimes didn't register she was hurt with a scratch or other minor wound. She would often, and still does, retrace her fingers across surfaces multiple times, otherwise she wouldn't truly tell what it felt like. Her parents were worried that she might get seriously injured or touch something dangerous and not know it, so they got her a guide dog just in case any of that were to happen. He was trained from birth until he was 1. Veronika had the chance to see his training and name him since her need for a dog wasn't great. She named him Leo, which was ironic considering the house she would eventually be sorted into.
The summer she turned 11, Veronika received her letter to go to Hogwarts. Her parents took her to Diagon Alley where she got all of her school supplies. At Ollivander's, she was fitted with an ebony and phoenix feather wand. It had a rather curious handle design, one that was defined enough that Veronika could feel it clearly.
Veronika had special permission to bring Leo to Hogwarts because of her disability. Because of this, she didn't get a pet like an owl or cat. After getting her things, Veronika said goodbye to her parents and boarded the Hogwarts train.
When the Sorting came around, the hat had a hard decision of where to place Veronika. She had traits of many of the houses, especially both Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. Eventually she was placed into the House of the Lion, which was a bit ironic for Leo. After only a few weeks of school, Veronika quickly discovered her talent in Transfiguration, and did extra work to get ahead of the class. However, she did make friends with many in her house, although she had the bad reputation of being a goody two shoes and sticking her nose in other students' business.
When she reached her 5th year, however, the professors looked at this while picking prefects for Gryffindor. Veronika was sought out to do the job almost immediately, and she accepted it in a heartbeat. And although many Gryffindors tended to look down on the prefects simply because it was their job to keep the house in line, she tended to even get along with the troublemakers, sometimes letting things they did slide.
This year, Veronika hopes to start training as an Animagus. She has asked Professor McGonagall to help her with this, in which the professor, somewhat reluctantly, agreed, although not to an extent where it would hinder her schoolwork. Whatever that meant.
Veronika's wand is ebony with a phoenix feather core. It is 13" long and very stiff.
Due to her tactile hyposensitivity, Veronika has a guide dog that follows her around in Hogwarts and helps her distinguish different surfaces. His name is Leo, and technically speaking Veronika only needs him while traveling to new and dangerous places. He is permitted at Hogwarts anyways, due to the fact that most of the professors and students don't mind dogs and that he's very well behaved.
Veronika's had Leo since she was 10 when she was first diagnosed. She had been able to watch his training as a guide dog, although he actually didn't start serving her until he was 1. Leo's been through many things with Veronika, and she knows that she can always count on him to lend a hand. Or paw.
Leo is now 7 years old. He's a long haired German Shepard with a brown and black coat and brown eyes. His color is black and has and embroidered tag saying his name and that he's a guide dog, but besides that he doesn't wear anything else or go on a leash. He understands Veronika and others pretty well however, able to tell if they are in pain and basic commands.
