Chester had recently left his first master, Vizza Mander, to finish his Jedi training. Though he had learned much from the kindly Zabrak Knight, Chester knew there was much he could learn elsewhere. Petitioning for a new master, Chester was informed that he would be taught by Javiik Valivin, another Jedi Knight of some renown.

Though the entire situation felt eerily familiar, this time Chester donned the Padawan robes of the Jedi Order and had his newly fashioned lightsaber attached to his sash. The rapier-like design of the hilt made it a unique weapon, though it felt natural in Chester's hands.

Approaching the vast gardens of the Ossus temple, where he had been told to wait, Chester took a seat on one of the many benches in the serene garden and waited for his master to arrive.

Javiik Valivin approached the gardens of the Ossus Jedi Temple. He'd been to the place many times before, but this time was for a different reason. Javiik was assigned to succeed Vizza Mander, a fellow Jedi Knight, in the training of a promising Padawan learner by the name of Chester Ducere.

Javiik was fully garbed in his Jedi robes, hooded as well. As he entered the area, he saw a figure sitting on a bench in the garden, and approached it, assuming it was his soon-to-be new Padawan.

"Padawan Ducere?" asked Javiik, standing behind the bench and the figure.

Chester would have been startled by his master's approach if he were still a fledgling Padawan with little or no knowledge of the Force. But now that he had been trained in the ways of the Jedi, he could sense his new master's approach, albeit very faintly.

"Yes, I am Chester Ducere. You must be Master Valivin. A pleasure to meet you, sir," Chester said. Turning around, Chester stood up from his seat and held out his hand in a friendly greeting.

"Likewise."

Javiik pulled his hood back, if only to display the simple courtesy of revealing his face to his apprentice.

"Well then, let's get started, shall we. Follow me to the training room, and we'll begin."

At that, Javiik made his way toward one of the Ossus Temple's many training rooms.

Though Javiik didn't appear as cordial as Chester's previous master, he didn't mind all that much. Either way, Chester didn't feel like nagging at his master for his history with the Jedi or his time as a Padawan. Regardless, Chester was just getting to know his new master; his assumptions could be wrong.

Walking in reverent silence, Chester tailed his master as he made his way to the training room, keeping a calm grip on his newly-constructed lightsaber the entire time.

As Javiik neared the training room, he decided to inquire about Chester's current skills gauge his abilities in the Force. He knew he had already received much of his Padawan training already, so he had to get a rough estimate of where to pick up on his instruction.

"Chester, can you tell me what Force powers you have a grasp of? From what I understand, you already have your lightsaber, so have you become a practitioner of a form as of yet?"

Chester paused for a moment, as though he entered deep thought. "I know the basics of telepathy and telekinesis and can put them into practice by moving objects and sensing other's presence. I also know how to use Force sight, which was the first skill I learned. Finally, I've some degree of knowledge with Force jump, which I've applied to Force-empowered sprinting."

Chester juggled his deactiavted lightsaber in his right arm. "I have not dedicated myself to a form, though I know the basics of Ataru," he said.

Javiik nodded his head as he heard Chester's description. He had a good amount of Force abilities for a beginner, but he had trained with another before Javiik himself, so it was expected.

"Alright then, here we are."

Javiik opened a large door that led to a training room. It was large, with great windows, but spacious as well. Javiik went to the middle of the floor and sat in the center, afterwhich, he motioned for Chester to sit in front of him.

"Come, let's get started."

Chester admired the room for a moment, soaking in its simplicity and spartan design. The large windows let a good deal of light illuminate the room, which provided a comfortable setting for their training.

Chester gave a quick nod to his master and silently approached him. Sitting before his master, he assumed a meditative stance and waited for his master's instruction.

"First, there is an ability in the Force that I believe most Jedi should know, at least in it's intermediate forms. It's called Breath Control. Use the Force to preserve the oxygen within your lungs, and halt the breathing process."

Using Breath Control himself, Javiik inhaled deeply.

"It is a basic power. You should have little trouble with utilizing it."

Chester listened intently to his master; though he had heard of this new skill, he had not put it into practice and hadn't bothered trying to learn it on his own. Nodding at his master's request for him to attempt at the ability, Chester calmed his nerves and focused internally.

Allowing the Force to flow freely through his body, Chester took a deep breath and held it in, not inhaling or exhaling. Concentrating totally on the Force, he allowed its mystical aura to sustain him, to keep him from fading into unconsciousness. After about two minutes, Chester released himself from the Force's grip and exhaled sharply and then began to breath regularly again, allowing his body to gain the benefit of collecting oxygen.

"I believe I have learned this skill, master. What's next?"

"You have a good general mastery of the Force for one of your rank. Though there is still much you can learn, I have found that learning through experience trains one better."

Javiik stood up and

"For now, there will be one last power I will guide you through. As Jedi, we are called upon to defend the Republic. In these desperate times, we encounter all sorts of situations, many involve investigation. Psychometry is an ability in the Force that allows you to view past events encountered by an inanimate object."

"Every object has a past. Often, much of it remains hidden to sentient eyes, but the Force can reveal all things. Physical remains can be removed by physical means, but all life leaves traces and impressions of information. Psychometry puts your conscious in the place of the person who interacted with the object, which allows one to view these events as if they were there."

"You also have access to one's feelings, so you can also determine one's mental and emotional state, even their feelings. Its use is so versatile, many Jedi that tend to work closely with the RSF exercise this power to the point of specialization."

Javiik pointed towards a long pole near the wall on the far side of the room.

"Go, and use the Force to try and receive the living impressions left by the Force."

((OOC: You can just make something up))

Chester listened to his master intently, willing to learn about this new ability that he could learn. Grasping at the pole, he let his consciousness slip into the streams of the Force; its energy overtook him as he struggled to see inside the object. After a few moments of silence, he stood up and released the object.

"Not too exciting of a history, I'm afraid. The object was once used in training exercises before Padawans could obtain their lightsabers. Eventually, a Jedi Padawan severely wounded his Master with it and it ended up here to collect rust."

Javiik smiled at Chester's revelation.

"Well done, padawan. For here on, I will no longer teach you Force techniques, but the door has been opened. You can always learn more in the Force."

"The time has now come for a sparring session. Earlier you told me that you'd started down the path of the fourth form. Do you wish to continue being a practitioner of Ataru?"

"Yes master, if you don't mind," Chester explained. "I'd prefer to use the Force than my lightsaber; the lightsaber is too violent, there's no way to avoid hostiles when you use one. Besides, my weapon was designed with Ataru in mind."

((OOC: Lol, I forgot all about this!! Sorry!!))

"As you wish. Only you can choose the path you will follow. As much as others may try to lead or guide you, the choice will ultimately be yours. The time has come for you to demonstrate your prowess and finesse with the lightsaber."

Javiik then telekinetically pulled his lightsaber into his left hand.

"The lightsaber is an invaluable tool, almost as symbolic of the Jedi Order as the Force itself, particularly in the eyes of non-Force sensitives. Because of this, knowning how to use it - and especially when to use it - becomes escential."

"By your words, I believe you have a proper understanding of this principal, as which you should, by this time. Now, come at me. Do not hold back."

Nodding, Chester ignited his azure-bladed lightsaber, a gentle hum traveled through the air while Chester adjusted the strength of the blade. Glancing at his master, he tried to remember which form Javiik excelled in, but it escaped him. Instead of performing a specialized attack based on the user's specialty, Chester performed one of the basic Ataru opening maneuvers he had learned.

Leaping toward his master, the Padawan planned to soar over his master's head and stab him in the right shoulder before landing behind him, where he could begin his offensive.

Javiik recognized Chester's attack as a basic Ataru maneuver. Still keeping his lightsaber deactivated, Javiik side stepped the downward lunge, moving towards the right. As Chester came down, Javiik switched his blade on. Gripping his lightsaber with both hands, he executed a sai tok on the descending Chester. If he truly dedicated himself towards Ataru, evasion would be second nature to him.

Chester hesitated slightly as his attack missed his intended target, although he continued in his rapid descent. As his master's lightsaber threatened to slice him in half, Chester reacted instinctively and - instead of deflecting the attack with his lightsaber - empowered his descent with a self-inflicted Force push, allowing him to land farther away and avoid the attack altogether.

Jumping to his feet, Chester prepared a defensive stance while waiting for his master to counter.

Javiik closely watched his Padawan's tendencies. He had agility, which was both good and expected, and evaded his initial attack. Instead of stopping his swing, Javiik completed it, deciding to make use of the gathered momentum.

Drawing his blade behind himself, Javiik sprinted towards Chester's location, using the Force to give him a burst of speed. As Javiik approached Chester, with his lightsaber trailing behind him, he simultaneously performed uppercut swing.
