Kuat System, Galactic Technology Conference, or GTCon

Skuld, now Eva Stark, did not anticipate being requested from the powers that be, namely Tasha and Gil, to show a representation of Blackwell Technologies on their now-sponsored ship drives on Kuat. Particularly with such a multitude of other companies deeply invested in technology; all kinds of things that were in development, ships, armor functions, even simple cybernetic functions were all displayed with dizzying arrays in multiple languages, primarily Basic, in a riot of neon-like colors in holographic displays in the massive hangar-turned-geek congregation.

She scowled and tightened her arms further beneath her bust, gritting her teeth.

She stood a head taller than most of her own research team, primarily other fellow female ship engineers, and basic small-scale models of their pending approval ships, all of which of course ran and even had functioning lights and small-scale, harmless design of weaponry.

She hated it with an intense passion, the gawking stares and inane questions. And the fact she was without helm, and not visibly within her armor. She had dressed simply, in a dark grey tank and black leggings tucked into heavy boots with her standard utility belt. The outfit showed an impressive physique, scarred but still very much active... even her mechanical arm gleamed under the shifting lights. Black hair was firmly braided back in a demure style, showing sharp angles of a watchful face.

She knew she had been busy with several personal missions, but it was nice from a brief break of responsibility, so to speak. Saxon was off somewhere with their son, Leon, and Tyrren, who was no doubt as starry-eyed as a lad with his first ax and quietly asking a million questions. And though it was a bit of respite, she anticipated a break from prying eyes, or at least a conversation with someone who wasn't a total idiot.

Ah, to hope, eh?

Music played from the tiny Jawa's holoman as he practically danced around the convention eyes wide trying to take in as much as they possibly could. Funani was just having a blast from radical new ship designs, datapad prototypes that looked like they would be amazing for the first six-seven months until they became junk and you had to buy the newest model that replaced it. To Funani this was the holy grail of places to him. None of the many junkyards could match the sheer amount of stuff they had. To demonstrate a prosthetic arm strength he volunteered to be lifted from the scrap of his neck it was equal parts fun and painful. He saw new droid model armor functions and ship models, engine designs (Including a hyperdrive model that was a cutaway to show the insides of it).

Meanwhile toiling and awkwardly huddling behind the Funani was a droid that was easily twice his height and was like an iron giant in comparison to the carefree Jawa. It was a 2b droid that like being called thetos, who Funani had found in a junkyard Coruscant. That droid was the reason why Funani was let in as it help 'translate' the vile abusive Jawaese he had spout at front door guards. Though he may prove to be the reason why he would get kicked out.

"Master, Slow down I'm not gifted with such a mobile and revolting body like you are. If you abandon me then I will extrapolate my reven- hey master!"

The droid spat in a rather curious male voice. Funani was too entrenched in his music to giver a damn about any around him including his own droid. This was a nice change of pace from the Corellia incident.. or the tatooine incident... or coruscant... or the Alderaan incident. Wow did he have a lot moments in his past where someone wanted to brutally kill him and then use his head and glowing eyes for a sadistic game of football. He didn't even mind that Oddi wasn't here, she was busy with her Jedi training and while Funani knew that she would absolutely love being here, he didn't want to get in the way of that and wanted some desperately needed me time.

The Jawa though with time grew bored it was hard to put his finger on it, as he walked by all the nice shiny models and saw a demonstration augmented reality holo game until it hit him. Everything was too nice, too clean. None of this display models looked like they would every see a life outside of being on display. There were no opportunities to tear something down and see all the really nitty-gritty bits. Sure look at the display of the armor function working in some completely artificial ideal scenario, but you want to see how they actually did it in an engineering sense? We can't have that! sure look at that ship model that looks totally awesome in a 1/1000 scale but you want to see the how the engine compartment is situated and if you could easily work on it? No you can't, we're a tech convention we can't afford to show that what we have might be *gasp* not perfect.

Funani stopped near the BIT booth as he collected his thoughts and letting every hack journalist and film crew by so that they could compose their shallow promotional video that barely said a useful thing about what they were covering. In this moment he reverted back to one of his oldest habits: people watching. Soon his glowing eyes would fixate on one of the people working the Blackwell booth. A woman easily the tallest one amongst everyone working the booth. Her face as cold as the metallic cybernetic arm she had. Best way to describe the air she put off was "I hate you, I hate this place and I will karking punch you." Which immediately made her the most interesting person in the room. After she was working the Booth and judging by the way she was talking and how other people sometimes referred to her seemed to indicate that hey she knew her stuff. Funani paused his music, and was getting ready to set off.

"Master if your thinking about trying to eat that woman's face I have calculated abysmally low odds of your success." Chimed thetos who had been creepily staring at Funani for the past 3 minutes.

"Duly noted and ignored Thetos." Funani said as he decided he was going to talk to this woman. Worse case scenario he gets thrown out best case... well he had no idea where that might take him. The small creature skirted his way around the mass of people. Deftly wading through it all until he finally graced the front of the both... or rather till he was face with the edge of the booth as he was barely taller than it.

"You don't look like you want to be here. Where would you rather be?" The Jawa had spent a few good seconds trying to actually think of something clever to say but his brain was drawing a complete blank, so he decided to just be blunt with woman. Truth be told socializing like this wasn't really his forte, ask him to disassemble and service a sublight turbine engine and he would be be halfway done by nightfall. Put him on the otherside of the booth and he would be much answering questions like it was no one's business. Talking was much more difficult unless he could get it to focus on a particular subject.

Eva Stark was bored. There was no other way to put it honestly. Though there were hoards of young tech minds buzzing with intelligence and unique ideas, they were all immediately of loss of interest when their extreme enthusiasm pressed down on her, making her want to retreat faster from the booth and possibly take a shower to scrub off the oily feeling their eyes gave her. It didn't help that there were questions about her arm, and any other functions it could possess, which made her resent being in the public eye all the more.

Answers were given in brisk, quick, clipped tones as cold as a Hothian bath, and all readouts given with the warmth of an Andobian frigate in a snowstorm. Asking anything remotely sociable from her didn't help with the crush. So when a being much smaller than the usual humanoid crush came in her direction, the woman didn't seem to notice at first. Her mind was elsewhere, cast off in a totally different direction than this convention had.

If she weren't so overwhelmed, she would have delighted in seeing so much tech, but being pestered and peppered with young, fresh faces and inane minds made her want to grab her ax and find the nearest hunk of useless metal. And as a representative of BIT, that wouldn't do.

As a leader of her people, however, it would have been perfectly fine. But she wasn't with her people, so she would have to adjust to being here for now. At least one more hour.

It was after a brief lull in topics, did she realize someone addressed her directly. Slowly, icy eyes surveyed the much smaller being, the expression not shifting in the most remote bit. A Jawa. She had heard of such beings before, but never beyond a dusty planet that she had the mistake of visiting once... and never again, for more reasons than one.

Hadn't her daughter mentioned meeting a Jawa before? Eyes narrowed slightly, and she shifted, arms crossing beneath her bust as head tilted to the side slightly. She highly doubted it was the same being, and she was not familiar enough with Jawas to bother with identifying gender.

"Not here," she replied simply, lips twitching slightly. "Someplace colder, and less..." her eyes fixated with an absentminded scowl at a youthful Mirialan who almost touched a scale model. The girl turned several shades paler and scurried away, before Eva fixated her gaze once again. "...Populated."

While she may have only said a few words they said a lot. Introverted, really hated the people right now and would likely hate Tatooine nearly as much as he did. She seemed a lot more blunt which was actually welcomed by Funani. The last thing he wanted was to meet another seemingly sweet and naive woman that would later turn out to be a complete psychopath. His eyes briefly drifted towards the arm but decided not to ask any questions. So many people ask what he really looked like under the robes so who was he to judge. As long as her eyes didn't turn green and she started levitating she would be fine.

Now though his mind started to grind away at the woman's words. He could invite her over to his ship and potentially show her his ideas for the droid to help Sakadi but that might be a little too much. That and well judging by the way she stared down one of the people about the touch the shiny model might not be desired. How do you take a place full of people who want to see awesome tech and get them the hell out of here? Funani's mind toiled with this thought and then realized that he might have something that could do the trick.

"Back at my Mynock I got a custom droid project I'm working on for a mute friend of mine." Funani then started to rifle through his many pouches before taking out a tablet like device of some sorts. Well it was a port scanner and chances are this grumpy tech lady would figure that out just from his query.
"Or, if you would kindly point out where this building has it's Hvac and power controls I can make this place much colder and less populated."

Not going to lie Funani was giddy at either thought he would love to find more technically minded people to talk droid and blasters with him, but he also felt consumed by the air of mischief that could come from crashing a tech conference. Things were getting a little stale and maybe introducing a little anarchy would spruce things up besides maybe if they did that he could roam free without any people or annoying busybodies to get in the way from this cornucopia of tech. Heck maybe hack into some of the rival booths and have it break stuff. The little troublemaker inside the Jawa was starting to let loose and well... as long as no one got hurt. Yet at the sametime this person could be really helpful even if it was to be a glorified figurine for him to work out the making something wrist sized that could scuttle about.

Sigh. Anarchy or tech? Anarchy or tech? Wait a minute where the kark is Thetos?

Funani quickly looked around only to see Thetos conversing with an odd looking droid roughly the same size as Funani. Followed by some Cybot Galactica people frantically running over trying to take the small droid away... unsuccessfully as it kept running off and about like kid. Now Funani could feel a bit of frustration build in himself with this place.

He really hoped the woman he was talking to liked a bit of fun anarchy.
