Clan Skirata

30nkjms.png

Formerly a part of the unified Mandalorians, Clan Skirata is one of many that has declared their autonomy, and has sought to pursue a purpose higher than just fighting for territory amongst one another. Under the leadership of Aliit'alor Lyon Skirata, the men and women of Clan Skirata seek to aid the Jedi and reunite honor with the Mandalorian people. Putting their skills as warriors to work, Clan Skirata seeks to redeem the Mandalorian culture and fight with honor alongside the Jedi to bring down the Sith, and put an end to the fighting in Mandalorian Space.

Early records of Clan Skirata have been lost to time, but the clan was around back before the Clone Wars, over a thousand years ago. Skirata has always been a small, close-knit Clan, once based around the region of Kyrimorut on Mandalore. While not as numerous as some other Clans, Skirata never the less did theur duties as Mandalorians, and served and fought like everyone else, and they have been frequent mercenaries of great note and skill.

In the waning days of the Clone Wars, and what is now called the Rise of the Empire, Skirata saw a sudden boom in numbers, as their ranks swelled with Fett clone deserters. And with the Clones rapid aging issues cured, Skirata would become instrumental in restoring Mandalore from Imperial rule. These highly trained Clone Troopers passed on their skills to the rest of the clan, and as many of them settled down and married, helping to swell the Clan's numbers yet further.

Suddenly Skirata was a true force to be reckoned with, with highly skilled and commandos almost comparable to Vencu's infamous Supercommandos. But having learned from the case of Fi Skirata, the Clone with serious brain damage, Skirata devoted themselves to having a standing corps of trained combat medics as well. And learning from their experience in the Clone Wars and the following years, Skirata began devoting themselves to armoured warfare, and set about mastering such vehicles such as the Canderous tank, and various Walkers.

When the Third Galactic Civil War came about, Clan Skirata fought alongside the unified Mandalorian Clans on the side of the Sith and Chiss, and eventually aided to bring down the Jedi and the Alliance. While it seemed a victory at the time of the Battle of Coruscant, it all went downhill from there. After Mand'alor Corden Vencu's death, a new Mandalorian took his place, one who is now known as Mandalore the Foolish. For five years he drove the Mandalorians further into the ground, and eventually, the people were driven to another violent Civil War.

Mandalore had been killed, Clans were seperating, and warlords were fighting over territory. On Mandalore, the heart of the sector, Clan Skirata definitely felt the effects of this new Mandalorian Civil War, and their leader, Lyon Skirata, decided it was time to leave Mandalorian Space before this got out of hand. The entirety of Clan Skirata packed up everything and left Mandalorian Space, and just in time to. Not long after Lyon and his Clan left the sector, the Sith Empress' war machine made its way into the conflict and blockaded the region.

Now without a home, Clan Skirata sent several scouts throughout the galaxy, searching for a possible location for a new home. They found that location on Alzoc III, and settled in an abandoned military base built into the snow. Setting up a ranch several miles from the base, while manning restoration on their new home, Lyon met everyone in his Clan and told them of his plans. He had long held spite for the Sith, for using the Mandalorians as attack dogs to do their bidding in a war they shouldn't have been in the first place, and now that Clan Skirata was free of their grasp, he declared that he was no friend of the Sith.

Lyon had held a respect for the Jedi, considering them brave and honorable, similar to the Mandalorians, and had longed for an alliance with them and his people. So, he decided, it was time to learn his comrade's feelings about the conflict. As it so happened, the majority of people in Clan Skirata had also shared Lyon's feelings, but had suppressed them out of respect for Mand'alor Vencu. It was decided that Clan Skirata was a friend to the Jedi, and they declared their own war with the Sith.

After more than a decade of leading the warriors of Clan Skirata, Lyon stepped down as Aliit'alor of the clan and handed the reins to his closest friend and second in command, Dex Skirata. The two of them had fought together in countless battles for 10 years and so the choice was unanimous among the warriors that Dex was a fitting choice to replace Lyon who left in the middle of the night with parting words that he would return to his clan.

-Skirata Base on Alzoc III-

Clan Skirata is based in an abandoned military base, dating back to the First Galactic Civil War, on Alzoc III. Similar to the historic Echo Base on Hoth, the Skirata Settlement is dug into the ground and covered by snow, masking it from thermal scans, with a large hangar bay acting as the primary entrance and various other exits leading to caves, foxholes, and others. Though a thousand years old, the base had managed to stay in a half-decent shape, with only a portion of the base collapsed in, though all the electronics were no longer functioning.

For the past year or so, Clan Skirata has been working on restoring the base to functionality, so far being able to set up several proximity sensors, communication boosters, and the hangar blast doors. To make the place livable until they get permanent fixtures, they have also brought in power generators, heaters, cooking ovens, and flood lights. To provide them food, there is also a small ranch built in the base of a valley several miles out, populated by Shaaks.

I would like to inform all clan members of Skirata that Fenix is a wee bit swamped right now. He'll post as soon as he can, however. Until then, vode, stay loyal and stay badass. :CScool

I intend to post in that tomorrow. Sorry about the long wait, guys. Things got pretty hectic on my end. It's good now though.

Good to hear things are going better.

Also: how are we going to react on the wiping/chasing out of (all?) Mando's in Mandalorian space? Maybe now is a good time to hook up with the Jedi?

My thoughts exactly. If you two are in favor of it, i'll start contacting the jedi and rebel FL's about joining their cause. Tactical retreat to like minded allies. Though we won't know about the glassing for a bit. The Sith jammed all communication.

We cannot make contact with Mando space, but they [thread=55207]have made a broadcast[/thread] about what they are doing. Not that it matters much, since we would have found out about what happened eventually.

Fenix, yours and mine need to hook up also. We can punch out any details over Skype, though.

We'll want to wait until the dust settles, but if you want to join up with the Rebels then (since I'm technically the FL now) we can talk once things are a little less crazy.

Roger that, Brandon. Thanks for that. Would a week be suitable amount of time?

I think that sounds fair, or even sooner if it seems like the dust is settling. I just don't want to make commitments in the heat of multiple attacks or anything.

Hey lads. Sorry for the double post. But I need a volunteer for a mission thread on Terminus. Going to be making contact with the Rebellion and I need a second. Any takers?
