"I can't make it to the meeting today," Lane said to the face he was staring at through the handheld holoprojector. The Senator of Svivren often wanted to hold meetings with him so that he could attempt to renegotiate the treaty to his favor instead of having it as a neutral peace treaty. It bothered Lane. They were mercenaries, and weren't going to become a biased military group.

"Why is this, Grand General?" The fat, ugly senator asked. He appeared as though sweat dripped down his forehead even though he hardly ever moved from his chair.

"Because I have other matters to attend. Luminado is growing, and we have work to do (believe it or now). I don't have time to constantly attend these pointless meetings. Good day," he said. The face disappeared and he put the projector away. Today was the day he was going to meet their newest recruit; Kaine. From what Lane had heard, Kaine had a massive potential. He hoped to see it in action.

The Grand General entered the training room, hoping to find his new apprentice waiting there for him. He would first test his pupil to understand his strengths and where he needed work. If he was to become a soldier, he would need to be strong all around; especially in the force and his lightsaber combat. They weren't pacifists like the Jedi, they were force-sensitive soldiers and needed to act as such. Lane kept his hands near his lightsabers, ready to engage the first test.

Kaine's eyes flared up while he sat on the cold floor, his legs crossed. He wasn't meditating. He lacked the patience to do so, he would often get just frustrated by sitting in the same exact spot for hours on end. In fact, he was the exact opposite of what a Jedi should be, teeming of fiery passion and ever restless. Long dreadlocks dangled down in front of his face as footsteps, grewing nearer with every step, could be heard down the hallway.

A crooked grin adorned his face as he hastily rose towards the full five feet eleven inches of his height, steadily standing on his feet. His eyes darted around the brightly lit rectangular room, the walls, ceiling and floor coated in durasteel, seemingly build for 'rough' training sessions like this one would probably be. He despised waiting, and he had been for the past hour or so, and as the footsteps seemed near enough but before he could even see his supposed master walk into the room, fairly confident in his own abilities, he scowled; ''You took your sweet time,'' he spoke loudly, a hint of agitation hearable in his voice as the sound collided with the metal plating of the room and bounced off whirling in various directions, the echoes dying out after a few seconds.

"You will learn why politics consists of stupidity and annoyances one day," Lane said. His padawan was a little arrogant and confident, but that was fine. Confidence was better than nothing. And he would soon learn to be the best. Lane was sure of this.

"Rise, Kaine, so I can test your skills and see what your training will consist of," Lane said.

(OOC: I was already standing, if that was what you meant. :P)

''Go ahead.'' He allowed a slight chuckle to escape his mouth while speaking, as he walked up to his master, so excessively bold that the confidence was almost radiating off of him. He shifted his head to the right and back, the cracking of bones hearable as he put his neck into place. Lightsaber clipped to his belt, fists balled in anticipation, he examined his master carefully as he awaited his move, the same grin still adorning his face.

(Oops. lol Forgot that part.)

Without warning, expecting Kaine to react as skillfully as his boasting confidence diplayed, he threw two of the many lightsabers at his belt, one green and one yellow, and drew a red and an orange one. He moved with such blinding speed that it would take a skilled force user to react in time to block his moves. His options were to react quickly, or spend a day in a kolto tank until the next day. Lane would not be disappointed if Kaine was not fast enough tho. He was his padawan, and here to be trained.

With the two lightsabers in Lane's hands, he swung at Kaine. The red saber went for the neck, and the orange for the waist. He wasn't going to kill him, but he would incapacitate him and render him unconscious if his blades did hit him.

Kaine reacted quickly. Almost as soon as he could hear the ignition of the two lightsabers, he dived forward head-first, his body rolling end over end as he did a somersault in his master's direction, the two lightsabers passing him with only mere inches inbetween. He reached for his own lightsaber in the overturn, grasping it tightly with his right hand. As he quickly rose in front of his Master, a green lightsaber flickering brightly in his hands, he tried to focus but already a red lightsaber was being swung at him. He leaned backwards, bringing his lightsaber up towards a collision course with the red one. He succesfully blocked it, but it went with such force that his own lightsaber was violently knocked out of his hand, the deactived saber's hilt clashing against the metal wall with a metallic ring. The attack was quickly followed by another one, hitting him in the waist with a crippling force. He moaned loudly as he cringed, and fell to his knees, one hand resting on the cold durasteel floor, the other in front of his waist. He gargled, and spit on the floor. ''Your fast.''he said while gnawing on his on teeth. He was enjoying this, the pains of battle. He sat there, in agony, but still he could see the fun in all of it.

"Soon, you'll be just as fast," Lane said. He withdrew his lightsabers and caught the other two, withdrawing them as well. "Before we continue our duel, I'm going to teach you a technique in the force which you can heal wounds like the one I gave you," he said as he sat down with his legs crossed. The move wasn't diffecult, but it would be hard to completely heal the wound he gave Kaine without the assistance of a kolto tank. That would be a weakness in battle.

"I want you to place your hand over the wound and let the force flow to it. Don't let impatience could your thinking, that could worsen it. Try to heal it completely, and then I'll return your lightsaber," Lane said as he pulled his lightsaber to him using the force. He stood and watched, waiting for Kaine to heal himself. Once he saw that he had done as much as he could, he would finish it off. He wanted him to learn, however. It was important not to let petty wounds of pain agonize one in combat. It showed weakness, which so many Jedi of the order had. Kaine was strong, though. Lane could sense it. His strength simply needed to be released and refined.

Kaine spat on the floor again, before nodding towards his master in acknowledgement. He pushed his hand through his hair to make sure his dreads wouldn't be the way while he got up. He stood, though impaired due to his wound. The wound was internal, as it wasn't bleeding, he felt like he broke a rib, or two, so he wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. Luckily, he was briefly instructed in this power while he was still a Jedi, though he couldn't recall exactly how to do it. Probably because he didn't receive the full instructions.

He pressed his hand against the wound, firmly, and could feel his ribs stinging. This caused him to wince a little and made him lose his focus. ''Damn,''he said under his breath, eyes briefly glancing at Lane, hoping that he somehow didn't see the mistake. But of course he did.

He tried again, this time holding his hand several inches from the wound. He focused, finding that little spot in his mind that was completely empty. Utmost concentration was necessary. That's what the Jedi told him, anyway. He looked down, towards the ground, then closed his eyelids, subconsciously tightening them as he was concentrating on guiding the living Force towards his wound. As he did, he could feel some of the aching, stinging pain fade. There was still some left, but it wasn't as severe as it was before. ''I think I did it.'' He said, eyes darting between the palm of his hand and you. Suprise could be seen in his expression and heared in his voice. That he was rather suprised at the feat, even though he didn't fully heal himself, was rather obvious.

"You have. There is very little damage left from your wound. After today is done, train yourself in this power. Focus it, and refine it, so that you may fully heal yourself with ease. Allow no distraction to enter you mind when performing tasks such as this, and," he said as he stood and tossed Kaine's lighsaber to him, "also during combat. Both Jedi and Bogan are arrogant in their skill. One who removes this arrogance and humbles himself will achieve a power beyond comprehension, and master it."

Lane drew his orange and red lightsaber once more, assuming a Juyo initiation stance. Both blades pointed directly at Kaine. "This next lesson will teach you speed. Allow the force to boost the agility of your movements. It will be hard at first, but with time it will be second nature. Focus, and charge at me at the same speed I attacked you. We will repeat this until you have successfully struck me," he said. He was calm and controlled, the same way he expected Kaine to be. He knew it wouldn't take long for Kaine, but this lesson would also teach him patience. "Begin." He said.

Kaine merely nodded. He had nothing to say, as his master explained things perfectly. He already liked being here much more than being with the Jedi. Results, but without the bullshit surrounding it.

Kaine expertly catched his lightsaber when it was thrown at him, immediately flicking it a threehundred-and-sixty degrees, activating it in the turn, followed by entering the basic Shii-Cho stance. Power beyond comprehension. He'd like that. A grin touched his mouth while the thought crossed his mind.

As Lane explained the next lesson, he eagerly nodded. Lane used the magic word 'power', and his mind was solely fixed on achieving said power. Kaine's eyes narrowed. Force Speed, he knew how to use it in it's most basic form, he just had to amplify it, somehow. His eyes closed as he focused on allowing the Force to flow through his body, in an attempt to enhance his speed. As soon as his eyes opened, he dashed towards Lane in a blink of an eye, clearly using the Force to enhance his speed. As he neared, he reared his body, two hands grasping his saber, allowing himself to put maximum impact behind the blow that he was going to deliver to his masters gut. He lunged forward slightly, and put all the power he could reach within the force behind that one blow, providing it with maximum strength and speed.

Lane blocked the attack just barely, but was still knocked backwards. Kaine had done what he had asked, and used the force to its fullest potential. Lane thought that there was nothing he couldn't do.

"Very good. You learn fast and well." He said. "I believe you've already caught on to that ability. Now, remember what you have learned with this power, and apply it to all of your powers; new and old. As long as you don't hold back, you won't have any limits." He explained. "Alright, since you've learned to heal, and mastered your speed, I want you to come at me without holding back, using those powers to your advantage." Lane was going to strike him with his lightsaber, that much was obvious. He simply wanted Kaine to not be distracted by the pain and immediately heal himself like he was taught. Once he had shown he could do it, they would finish and his next lesson would continue tomorrow.

Kaine was pleased to see that he did well this time. He even managed to disturb his master's defences. But he didn't want to disturb them, he wanted to subvert them.

Kaine was breathing heavily as he took a few steps back from his master, increasing the gap in between them. His green lightsaber still radiated brightly while Kaine's thoughts were backgrounded by it's humming. He enjoyed it. He enjoyed the sound of a lightsaber, even more so the sound of two clashing. A slight frown was visible on his face as he nodded again, as his master spoke. Hold back. No way that he was going to do that.

Kaine rolled his shoulder, and stretched his body, his former wound still feeling rather sensitive. But he ignored it. This would be a fight he'd revel in.

A high squeek was heard from his shoes as he propelled himself forward to his master, the Force still augmenting his speed. Though he appeared to be going straight for Lane, he jumped nearly fifteen feet into the air in the middle of his dash, followed by a reversed salto mortale, leaving him directly above his masters exposed back. Using gravity to enhance the power of his well executed attack, his green lightsaber would rain down on Lane like a great flaring hammer of green fire.

Lane quickly turned and blocked the blade as it almost came down on his back. Once the blades made contact, he made a speedy side roll until he faced Kaine's side and swung at it. The swing wouldn't kill him, obviously, but would wound him if it did make contact. He pulled out a second lightsaber to block any counter attacks.

As soon as Kaine landed on his feet, he swiftly flinged his saber to his side and repelled Lane's attack by doing so. Seeing his master grab a second saber, he quickly slashed his saber brutally upwards, across his opponents face. He wanted to be victorious; or at least put up a good fight, if only to satisfy himself and maybe his master in the process.

Lane leaned backwards to avoid the attack to his face and slashed with his own sabers downwards in an x pattern. They would strike him across his chest. If they hit, Lane wouldn't hold back. Meaning Kaine had better heal himself or he would lose the duel

As soon as he saw that his attack failed, he took a step back. He held the hilt of his blade to his side, holding his saber in front of him vertically, Lane's sabers clashing into his. He went into a struggle, and attempted to push his blade up as far as he could, hopefully enabling him to diminish Lane's guard and attack him while there was an opening.

Lane pushed down hard, but didn't move much. Kaine was strong, and he could tell he took these lessons to heart. Lane kept his gaurd up though. Once Kaine struck him, he would have proven that he is a powerful soldier.

Bright-yellow sparks founted from the colliding sabers as Kaine pushed harder, allowing the force to aid him in achieving new levels of strength. He had never been this determined in a fight before, nor has he been this enjoyed. He found himself tapping into his anger, recalling past events, in this way empowering him even more. As he did this, he could literally feel the force flowing through every vein in his body, forcing his masters lightsabers upwards, hopefully enough to succeed in bringing his guard down this time. A loud, guttural yell escaped his mouth as the climax of the struggle seemed to be near, this encouraging him to try even harder. If he succeeded in this second attempt, he would bring his saber down immediately, striking diagonally into Lane's neck. Nothing is impossible.

Lane could feel Kaine's anger rising. He couldn't help but let a half smile creep across his face. He was becoming more powerful, enough to repel Lane's advance. It got to the point where Lane even began to struggle. Then, what Lane didn't expect to happen did happen. Kaine pushed him back, leaving Lane's chest open for an attack. Kaine had successfully gotten around his defenses, though Lane was holding back for the sake of Kaine's training, and made an openning for himself. Lane was defeated.

"Well done, Kaine," Lane said. "You defeated me, all without a single scratch. On your first day of training. I am very proud," Lane said as he withdrew his lightsabers. "What do you have to say in light of your victory?"

Kaine sighed as he deactivated his lightsaber, having mixed feelings about winning the sparring session. He was proud, obviously, but didn't want to show it. ''I think you held back,'' he spoke softly, his voice lowered and gravelly, tilting his head momentarily in gesture. ''But I'm glad.'' He couldn't supress a faint grin showing on his face while his pride got the better of him again.
