The Tufted Deer is a small species of deer. The Tufted Deer lives in central China and Northeastern Myannmar. It is classified as Near Threatened on Endangered Species list due to overhunting and habitat loss.
It is closely related to the Muntjac, or barking deer. The Muntjac is nothing special, so why are the Tufted Deer being overhunted. Could it be the need for expansion? Could it be that they just taste amazing? Perhaps there's something special about the deer.
Their proportions are average. They stand at a height of 70 centimeters, and only weigh up to sixty six pounds. Perhaps, this is a significant weight for a deer? I don't claim to know the answer to that question.
The. Deer's colors change from black in the winter to brown in the summer. Nothing unique about that. In fact, I believed I may have just described 1,000 other animals and a Pokemon. So, here's a picture from wikipedia of a female Tufted Deer in the summer.
So, what makes these creatures worth talking about? The males of the species have fangs which make them look like Vampires! I know, that sounds like a ridiculous claim but I swear on Google it's true. The fangs are used by the deer like inverted antlers to prove dominance during mating season.
