DESCRIPTION
D1-series aerial battle droid, also known as the D-wing air support droid, D-wing security droid or simply the D-wing droid, saw use during the height of the Clone Wars. It was first developed and used by the Techno Union. Most notably the D1 saw use on Skako Minor but it could be seen on any world where the Techno Union operated as security details for VIPs.

Essentially a B1 battle droid, the D1 was branded as a security droid and thus rarely ever saw use in open combat during the Clone Wars. After the Clone Wars ended the D1 line never continued beyond a 'prototype line' of security droid. It was still produced but not as great numbers as the B1.

The D1 series was notably different from the B1 in a few ways. Firstly its appearance was the most immediately obvious as it appears thin but has a surprising height of over two meters or six feet and nine inches. The slim profile makes it conveniently a difficult target to hit from head on. A pair of medium blaster arms are the D1's primary means of defense and offense. They are rated to the equivalent of medium blaster pistols and so are not accurate at a range longer than fifty meters.

The flight system of the D1 primarily refers to the pair of wings the D1 aerial battle droid sports. It can allow the droid to fly, hover and move similar to that of a jetpack and jetboots. Prolonged use of the flight system and its blasters may decrease the power cell charge faster than normal but since the D1 is often use as bodyguard detail it rarely is far from a charging source. Its seventy two hour duration is often more than enough to patrol important bases and individuals without needing a recharge.

LEGALITY
Illegal. General airborne military droids such as the D1 are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. Many beings get around this restriction by reprogramming their 21s as personal attendants and bodyguards, or at least claiming to have done so.

INTENT
This is a droid from canon. It is essentially a B1 battle droid but with a jetpack and 2 medium blaster pistols. I want to maybe find these and use them as guards or have them be NPC enemies.
