Dain was visibly nervous as he wound his way through the halls. Even after close to ten years here, he still got lost sometimes within the winding halls of the temple. And today, of all days, was not a day to get lost.

After a brief exchange with a Togruta youngling, he figured out where he was and backtracked through several corridors, finally arriving outside the designated room. He had never been in this part of the Temple before. It was less inundated with fauna than some other parts, which struck Dain as odd.

Today was quite a busy day, for everyone. He had only heard news of the Temple on Coruscant's destruction that morning, and it weighed heavily on his mind. He had friends there....were they alright? What had happened? Who had done it?

And who was his new master? He had only been told that he had been chosen by one, not who it was.

Pushing such thoughts aside as best he could, he straightened his tunic and knocked on the door, waiting for a moment before stepping through.

((Closed thread. XD))

Glancing around the training room again, Knight Haloburner Lamb pondered on something and someone very near and dear to her. She was adorned in her usual green pants, cream colored top, matching vest and brown Jedi robe. Dangling under her robe were her two lightsabers. The female knight paced back and forth in the room reading about the latest developments on her datapad. Minutes later, the female Knight heard a knock…

Prior to the meeting day, Knight Lamb spent time reading and studying the Miralan’s file. From what Knight Lamb gathered, Padawan Dain Graf is not only sociable, but also very studios one who spends much time in developing his combat skills.

Seconds after the knock, in came her newest Padawan- a rather tall Miralan. The image on the file she was sent looked just like the young man. She placed her datapad back in her brown Jedi robe then spoke while walking closer to Graf, “Padawan Dain Graf, come in.”

Dain bowed respectfully to his new Master. "Master Lamb, it is an honor."

He had seen her several times over the years, though the two had never spoken. Of course, with the temple being the close knit community that it was, he knew most people that resided here, by name if not by face. Dain took in the pair of lightsabers at her belt with a glance, and more than passing interest. He had always been interested in the dual saber Niman form, though he hadn't had much chance to attempt the style in classes.

"I find myself glad that I have been chosen by a Knight such as yourself."

A reciprocal bow ensued from Knight Lamb. “Thank you Graf. I hope your time here with me will be rewarding one.” Lamb usually likes to take her Padawans through the Jedi Code, but seeing as Dain is quite an experienced young man in the Order Haloburner will simply skip that step.

“Before we begin I’d like to know a little bit about you. Your story, and most importantly your goals. Where do you see yourself five years from now Padawan Dain?”

The blonde thoroughly read the young Miralan’s file, however it is always interesting to hear the story first hand. Padawan Dain Graf appears to be an ambitious man, hopefully the story behind that will be forthcoming….

Dain smiled,"Much of my story is unknown even to me Master. I know that I was born on Mirala, and brought to the Temple here when I was young. I...."

He trailed off, thinking for a moment. Yes, he should tell her, there was no reason not to. And he knew that within the Order, secrets were frowned upon at the least. This wasn't like some places, where his admissions would see him made a fool of or considered weak. "I don't know why the Jedi that found me was there, all I remember is....fire. So much fire...."

He covered his mouth and coughed a few times. He was often fighting some minor illness or another, and this time he had a touch of the cold. "My goal...my goal is to become the best Jedi that I can be. Not for myself, but for those I can help, to restore peace. Five years from now...I see myself as a Knight, though i'm not sure what I will be doing."

As the young Padawan old the Knight his story, Lamb couldn't help but notice the change in his demeanor. Perhaps when the right moment presents itself, Lamb will get to the bottom of it.

"Thank you for shearing your story. Now, remember you just said as far as your goals are concerned. There will be challenges, but as long as you have a plan and remember your future plans you should be fine." Pausing to take a breath and allow her Padawan to respond, Haloburner moved closer to the center of the room.

"Have you learned telekinesis yet?" she finally added.

Dain nodded slowly. He certainly would remember his ideals, his goals. They guided him, drove him.

"telekinesis? Well...I can push-" he held up one hand, and pushed a small box nearby several feet across the floor, pausing to take a breath and pull it back to it's original position,"-and pull, is that what you mean Master? I'm reasonably proficient with that, though larger objects give me a bit of trouble."

Looking over at her male Padawan, Halo watched intently as he demonstrated his skill. "Very good, Dain" she said with a slight grin. "Now I want you to manipulate the biggest weight above us down to your hands" added Lamb as she pointed to the open room ahead with several suspended weights in all shapes and seizes.

"Take your time. I am in no hurry." As the Knight waited for Dain to move she carefully watched his every move. The weight he had been asked to manipulate will take much concentration and focus, unlike the box that Dain just manipulated....

Dain followed his Master's hand up to the ceiling, spotting the largest of the weights attached to the it. Nodding, he stepped back, ensuring that neither of them were beneath the weight, should he drop it.

Extending both arms up in the air, fingers pointing towards the weight, he closed his eyes and focused intently, seeing the tendrils of Force energy in his mind's eye. No, he corrected himself, feeling, not seeing.

Wrapping the tendrils that stretched from his fingers around the weight, he slowly detached it from it's mounting on the ceiling and started lowering it to the ground. A bead of sweat broke out on his forehead, streaking down the right side of his green tinged skin as he slowly rotated the weight around, turning it upside down before lowering it slowly once more.

When the box was perhaps two feet from the ground, between himself and Knight Lamb, he suddenly coughed, instinctively bringing his hand up to cover his mouth. As he did so, he lost his connection letting the heavy weight fall the last few feet to the ground with a heavy *clunk.*

Sighing, he looked up to his Master. "Uhh...sorry Master."

Like a proud parent (though clearly Graf was not Lamb's child), the female Knight watched- with bated breath- while Dan followed the instruction he was given. He almost had the task completed, merely seconds before he coughed. The coughed diverted his attention and focus which ultimately led him to do the inevitable- drop the weight.

"Good job...and no need to apologize, Padawan Graf. I saw your efforts, besides your body had to eventually let out that cough." Turning to look straight at the male Padawan, Lamb continued with a slight smile "I wont make you try again, but you can if you'd like to."

Dain nodded and raised his arms again, reaching out with the force once more to embrace the weight. His eyes closed once more, and he resolved to ignore everything else while he was doing this.

He raised the weight to midway between the floor and cieling, held it for a moment before turning it upside down again, and lowering it to the floor. This time, it landed between the two of them gently.

"How's that?"

Just as she did the first time, Knight Lamb watched her Padawan’s every move with hope. He looked very much in control of the task at hand. About a minute later, he successfully moved the weight to it’s original position- this time with much ease.

“Excellent,” said Lamb as she walked behind the mahogany desk on the other side of the room. She pulled out a blue lightsaber and threw it mid air. “Here, Graf. Let’s go outside. Tràkata combat form- you and me.”

With that, the female Knight headed out the door….

Dain practically glowed with the praise. He knew that he probably shouldn't. But being told that he had done a good job by his master was just too much for him not to be happy.

He almost missed catching the lightsaber thrown at him. Grasping with his fingers, he managed to keep a hold on the hilt, which was not unlike his training saber.

He practically jumped over the desk in his eagerness however, and followed Lamb outside eagerly. "Tràkata?" he asked, being unfamiliar with the word.

“Yes, Dain, Tràkata. You may be unfamiliar with this combat form because the Jedi usually don’t use this form; the Sith does. BUT!, we will have to know their ways if we as the Jedi plan on ever taking the upper hand in the Galaxy.” Lamb paused to think about the recent loss of council members on C. ‘Twas a sad day when the news got to the Knight. While she does not know the details of the bombing, she can do her part, as a Knight to prepare herself and her Padwans.

“So, as I was saying, fundamentally, the said combat form, Tràkata, relies on deception, rather than single minded determination or endless patience,” added the female Knight- quoting from something she recently read.

As the pair reached the shaded area Lamb stopped and removed her two lightsaber on her hip clip. She turned it to the lowest level possible, and asked Padwan Graf to do the same….

Dain wasn't sure how he felt about learning a Sith art. He remembered a lesson some months previously where he had been told that knowledge of the Sith arts were not in themselves paths to the Dark Side. And what Lamb had said was true...

Besides which, he was certainly curious. And deception in itself was not Dark in nature. If it was, the Jedi would never use mind tricks, would they?

Unclipping the other saber, he turned the power dials down to their lowest settings and smiled,"Ready."

((Which hand is Graf’s dominant hand? Please don’t tell me he is Ambidextrous))

A smile crossed Halo’s face at the sound of ‘ready’ coming from her Padawan. Before commencing the spar, she quickly removed her brown robe and set it on the grass. Flexibility was needed in the pending spar…

Now ready to spar, she took hold of both purple and pink weapons- checking again to make sure the sabers were on training level.

Graf, on the other hand, appeared to be ready position, waiting. Now with a stoic look on her face Knight Lamb moved into position, turned her dominate hand lightsaber on and made her first move.

Moving straight towards the Miralan, the Knight chopped mid air (towards Graf’s blade). Halo’s blade will cross Graf’s blade- at which point she will deactivate her saber, bypassing his block. If her Padawan fails to block before the Knight activates her left hand weapon- her blade will ignite into his left collarbone. Simple Tràkata maneuver, but one that can be lethal if the blade touches his collarbone.

Dain had perhaps a quarter of a second to realise what was happening, what Lamb's plan was, and realise that he had no real way to deflect it with his own blade. Which meant that his only real option was to simply be elsewhere.

Using just a bit of help from the Force, he dropped perhaps a foot, his knees bending. Halo's blade, intended for his collarbone, instead sliced through the air where it had been a fraction of a second before. Dain brought his right hand blade around, slashing for his Master's legs.

((Right hand would be dominant))

Graf easily dodged Lamb’s attack, leaving her purple weapon slashing the thin air. The male Padawan was no on his knees attempting to slash at the knight’s legs. ‘Oh no, you wont,’ thought Lamb as she quickly levitated off the ground. Simultaneously levitating, Lamb aimed her saber downward towards Graf’s torso- nothing that Halo won’t be able to repair IF Dan takes the hit.

Dain brought his rightmost saber up horizontally to block Lamb's downward cut. The idea was that her blade would slip to his left.

Taking a quick step up and back, he would drop into a ready position once more.

Graf again managed to block Lamb’s attack with a downward cut. As he proceeded to get into ready stance, Haloburner levitated back down on the ground and got in ready stance as well. She then proceeded to make X formation, above her, with her weapon all the while feeling/reaching for her second saber on her left side.
